For me is about a man trapped in purgatory, dealing with his own death, finally making it, ascending, while leaving his personal goods and mundane problems. While going trhu the steps of dealing with trauma. as i imagine, death would be a traumatic event for a man.
what? No it doesn't. Kafkaesque refers to bloated, unnavigable bureaucracies. The dude (Kafka) literally wrote a book about a guy being unable to navigate a huge bureaucracy, ending in his demise.
there used to be talk about what this song really represented. i always thought it was what we would perceive in the afterlife. the long road, the unfinished work in the garage, and of course the surprise that your dead in the first place. the tree representing your final judgment. of course that's only in a biblical sense.
Given the context of the song, I think it's even worse than that. It's not simple a Carpe Diem thing. The screamed "no future no past" line looks like someone in despair by having made nothing special/meaningful in life (no past) and having no hope of getting something like that (no future).
i agree. I was comparing that scene as a silhouette, the face and the ground, terrain, or what have you. I usually look down, for a point of direction (bad habit), but if configured to a person, as seen above, the past is clearly personified by the individual's physiognomy which expresses old age.
why the fuck is this the first single. it should be wasted days with a abridged bridge. but what the fuck do i know. thanks pitchfork btw. i loveface you.
I remember the first time I heard this back in freshman year of high school. Man how time flys

Absolutely incredible song. Cannot hear it with maximum loudness again and again.

This video is so haunting in a way..
Definitely one of the best song/video from Cloud Nothings! This video needs more than 12k views!
Also one of the best song ever made
Is 84k enough?

Looks like that scene from Big Lebowski...
If anyone doesn't understand the word "kafkaesque" - This video describes it very accurately.
what? No it doesn't. Kafkaesque refers to bloated, unnavigable bureaucracies. The dude (Kafka) literally wrote a book about a guy being unable to navigate a huge bureaucracy, ending in his demise.
what??? Kafka was an existentialist, how did you even manage to turn his philosophy into Fight Club?@@edwinamirsaleh15
this video is awesome
Leaving your comfort zone

I don't get this video if there is something to get...
I love the song and it makes sense, but I don't understand the video.
. . . No Future. . . . No Past. . . .
will someone help me understand

it could be about Alzheimer
what #kurtcobain tried to say
That's funny that you say that. I was thinking that his screams on the "No future, no past" sound like Kurt when he would scream.

Reminds me of Slint
Eh I'd say they have more of a Pixies vibe than a Nirvana vibe. I like it though regardless.
