He's always had his own style. his songwriting has always been very simple and touching and vulnerable. Always have loved his music and he deserves more credit than simply being his father's son.
I understand he is regarded very highly in his genre without Bob overshadowing him. I saw him live up close and personal in Boston and he was amazing !
I keep coming back to Jakob Dylan. The Wallflowers and solo, he got no favors, and he's got his own thing, completely. I hope to hear that he's making a new album of any kind, soon.
Something very comforting and natural about Jakob's vocals and style. Good god...the Jackson Browne influence is there, the voice is a gift, but it's all his own; he can hold his own in any room.
Read the description.. immediately noticed all the people reflected in Jakobs glasses. So talented in so many ways. Truly blessed with that voice. Saw the band live on the Bringing Down the Horse album.. Evansville indiana, 1995. I can still remember when Jakob walked back out for the encore. Now he was wearing his brimmed hat and crooned out "I Wish I Felt Nothing" ..beyond amazing
Jakob has been amazing to me from Wallflowers to all his solo stuff, like his father he is a consummate artist with a real skill for word smithing, but as much as he is his father's son he is his own man. His style and song shaping are COMPLETELY different than his father's and I so rarely hear that said. He truely is amazing.
Discoved and fell in love with Jakob's music without knowing he's Bob's son. After making some research found out about famillarity and saw some resemblance...both are beautiful artists who move my heart and soul...love em separately so very much, forever!
I have returned to this page more times than I can count, just to hear people sing about God in a way that makes me happy - Would love to see a secularly-driven old fashioned revival with Jakob as lead Reverend.
Jakob paints these gorgeous landscapes with his lyrics....I mean, Bob's cool and iconic, but I really really like Jakob's music better! Just being honest! :)
Bob Dylan is a million universes beyond 'cool and iconic'. Go deep into every element of American roots music and then put alllll of it together - and that is just the *language* , the paint, Bob Dylan uses in his works and performances
@@brianmurphy5313 I ever thought about Jakob: Nice guy who is with little success trying to live up to the too big heritage of his old man. This vid is the first time I recognize him as a genuine musician....I was wrong.
Neko and Jacob. damn. What kind of guitar is Jacob playing? Neko doesn't give a fuck. I saw her in the late 90's in Calgary at a place called the Night Gallery for the first time. A buddy said I had to see her. When she took the stage she was in her pajamas and could barely speak from a horrible flu. She apologized that she could only do a few songs and that her voice was done. Well she just fucking wailed on the 5 songs she did. Parted my hair I think. Unreal. Worth every penny and more to get in. She couldn't speak when she was done. What a performer.
I just love Jakob Dylan and The Wallflowers. I always have. He is so talented and his voice makes my soul soar. We just saw him in Newport, and have tickets to see him again in NH in a couple weeks. I cannot wait. He is just awesome, and so engaging with the audience.
I don't see why people constantly try to compare his song writing with Dylan. He is his own person folks. Bet you wouldn't even make such criticisms if you didn't know who he was.
When I first heard the Wallflowers years ago I thought...what a cheesy Bob Dylan imitation by the singer, come on! Then the forehead slap when I found out later who it was.
Really good material there. He has found his own style and sound, for sure. The interesting thing is, though, if you close your eyes and imagine it was Jackson Browne....well, it could be. And that would be just fine, because Jackson Browne is about as good as it gets. Jakob Dylan is another gift Bob Dylan inadvertently has given to the world. I'll have to see if I can get his new record.
He's very distinct from his father in his songwriting, but it's truly surreal to see him perform in the hat and sunglasses like that. It's like you brought a modern camera to a 60s Greenwich village apartment where bob dylan played a few tunes.
What great news!! didn't know a new album had been released, sounds really good!!!! Just discovered as well bout Tiny Desk Concerts, what a fantastic thing to do!!! Will surely look for the CD here in Barcelona, hope to find it!!!
yes, he is still an under appreciated artist! His music is timeless and I suppose he just has good genes for that (the only implication I have ever made about his father)!.. I have been a major fan for twenty years. Through all the different paths he has taken I have been an adoring fan!!! He is major man-festival to look upon. I am Cyndi
This is brilliant, shame when someone has genuine talent like this and they are constantly compared with their famous parent. Great songs well done what's not to like. Also comments about him being a rich boy don't effect his talent and I doubt Dylan bringing him up any different than any other kid, Dylan isn't really a materialistic guy is he.
It's a shame we don't hear anything of Jakob these days..still sounds as beautiful as ever & better than some that are raking in the dough today. He really has a better voice than his Dad but probably not the talent?? (song writing ability) I loved his Dad in the '60s and early '70s...saw him many times, and 4 times in 1 yr when he and The Band did their concert tour. Wow, how Awesome that was!!!
Put harmonica around his neck and the image is complete. The sound might be a little more John Prine than Father Bob, but I wouldn't put it to a $500 taste test. Doesn't matter. The looks, the similarities, the pedigree do not matter. Yes, I'm watching a recording, but musical performance is an ephemeral, magic thing. It takes talent and love, love for the art and craft. He could be anyone's son, look as ugly as a Chinese Crested, but these fourteen minutes are a gift we can all enjoy, and they came from Jakob and his bandmates.
to me he already has, I grew up with the Wallflowers and still listen to them today, I think Jakob Dylan is a majorly underestimated talent
He's always had his own style. his songwriting has always been very simple and touching and vulnerable. Always have loved his music and he deserves more credit than simply being his father's son.
@@dupondm235 Simple is the understatement..
I understand he is regarded very highly in his genre without Bob overshadowing him. I saw him live up close and personal in Boston and he was amazing !
But he is definitely his Father's son
I keep coming back to Jakob Dylan. The Wallflowers and solo, he got no favors, and he's got his own thing, completely. I hope to hear that he's making a new album of any kind, soon.
It comes out in July
I just bought it last week. Exit Wounds is one of his best.
Something very comforting and natural about Jakob's vocals and style.
Good god...the Jackson Browne influence is there, the voice is a gift, but it's all his own; he can hold his own in any room.
Never thought about Jackson Browne, but it makes sense.
U r a good person
Listening to this after seeing Echo in the Canyon. I need to catch up... I love these beautiful songs. Thanks!
Jakob Dylan is a fantastic songwriter and performer. I really love the guy.

Have watched this clip a zillion times. It’s still magic. Love it … every second.
I'm just so overwhelmed by how many of my favorite artists have done concerts for this channel...

If he inherited anything, it's his father's gift for being enigmatic. He'll be around for a long time.
Loving the accompanying singers, gives me goosebumps with the perfect harmonies.
One of my top Tiny Desk concerts. Jakob Dylan is fantastic.
Beautiful meaningful songs and beautiful back up voices...
Discoved and fell in love with Jakob's music without knowing he's Bob's son. After making some research found out about famillarity and saw some resemblance...both are beautiful artists who move my heart and soul...love em separately so very much, forever!
I love how Neko Case is there, no outward mention, just providing backup vocals for another talented guy. That is so money.
That's who she is. Speaks well of him.
The Apple hasn't fallen far from the tree ,Jakob has the cool attitude just like Bob
Neko Case Kelly Hogan
Absolutely Beautiful Harmonies.
I love the songs and the sound of this small-scale venue.
Extremely talented and handsome young man. Love his music, makes you smile.
I have returned to this page more times than I can count, just to hear people sing about God in a way that makes me happy - Would love to see a secularly-driven old fashioned revival with Jakob as lead Reverend.
Love his voice! Amazing songwriter! Thank u for this!
no wonder the offices were crowded for this one. The harmonies are beautiful.
helps to have Hogan and Case as your backup singers, those to are monsters in their own right.

Could listen to this song everyday...love jakob and their voices together...
Oh how I miss good, heartfelt, straightforward folk music !!
good stuff, haven't listened to him in over 10 years. love the two ladies voices as well
Definitely the BOMB! Great harmony and music style!
about my favorite current songsmith!....hope to catch jake live sometime.
I'm glad NPR stepped their video quality up since this

Pure magic Jakob!!!! Very relaxing too.. I needed that 😊

This warmed my heart. It's beautiful and touching.
Bobby: one of a kind; Jacob: one of the kind.
That’s Neko Case backup vocals. A star in her own right.
Just found this wow love his voice hints of his dad but definitely his own style 👏👏
Oliver JH shut up. Since when u do like ur own father
Great voice
This is beautiful!

Jakob Dylan's voice is absolutely mesmerizing.
very beautiful!
This is such an amazing cut of all three songs. So awesome.
beautiful
When I first heard the Wallflowers years ago I thought...what a cheesy Bob Dylan imitation by the singer, come on! Then the forehead slap when I found out later who it was.
Hee! I kinda thought so, too, at the time. Funny.
I absolutely love this authentic and beautiful songs! Deeply moving and sweet provocation! Thanks! Jakob is a phenomenal artist! 🤍
Four "Bravo"s! Thanks, everyone, for the writing, singing, and playing.
What Bob Dylan does for an encore. Encore should be the kid's nickname.
Liked it all -- the 2nd tune has a great sound, especially capo-ing the guitar up and with shaker for the rhythm.
Mi play list, de estos dias de invierno! Saludos desde Lima-Peru.
stumbled across this because of a missed spelled search. Am so glad for the mistake! This is amazing
13 minutes of peace ~~
Wallflowers are one of the best ever. Love is a country is an amazing song.
Happy 50th Birthday Jakob Dylan
what a treat, this is the first time I heard Jakob.... you have made my day .Hope to see you on a tour Vancouver BC

Just beautiful. Good job, Jake! Very, very good!
Such a Beautiful Song so Gently Sung❤❤❤
More John Prine than Bob Dylan, here.
Cool song.
Or Jackson Browne
Was thinking this was very John Prine as well.
He's very distinct from his father in his songwriting, but it's truly surreal to see him perform in the hat and sunglasses like that. It's like you brought a modern camera to a 60s Greenwich village apartment where bob dylan played a few tunes.
Great lead guitar player - he perfected the it. Paul Rigby is the man
Great songs and video Elna! Enjoyed very much.. thank you for posting.♥♫♥
so good, he has his own style.
Brilliant !!!
An excellent piece of musical love - but I guess that he'd a pretty good teacher, well done Jacob & band...😉
Jakob Dylan is an amazing singer. Loving it Bob Dylan is a legion, he would be proud
What great news!! didn't know a new album had been released, sounds really good!!!! Just discovered as well bout Tiny Desk Concerts, what a fantastic thing to do!!!

Beautiful voice.
Amazing job!
Very nice, thank you!
Oh man this should be revamp what a quality concert
Love his music & his dads, obviously 🖤

rather 2 than 1
Wonderful .......Thank-you ❤️
I hope Jakob can make a name for himself like his dad did. Great vocals and rythem. Even looks like Bob up the playing from a far.
Absolutely gorgeous. Lifted my heart. Nothing by the Whole Wide World for us.
Freestanding, Fine Artist with an apparent lifetime or two of great art ahead him and, thankfully, us.
I would love to hear him sing with his dad
Absolutely Beautiful ❤❤❤
Why doesn't this have a million views?
Jakob is a real natural and lovely with it!❤❤❤
So good!
He is great
@tinpantry
Hell yeah, if you see any of his interviews there are flashes of some of Bob's mannerisms, too.
Beautiful ❤

Great songwriter. Realistic outlook on life
its voice from dylan house love it
Love Jakob ... very talented young man. Has he & his father worked together ? Would love to hear that 💙
same with me
