Vegan for 11 years, am 65, and it has been the best ethical and spiritual decision I have ever made. I love my vegan life-style. I can lie on my death bed (when the time comes), and feel good about having done something positive in my life.
i quite literally saved my life with veganism ( plant based eating ). Solved my auto immune disorder which almost made me end my life on multiple occasions by simply avoiding dairy :).
@@gardenbliss6638 I had a DNA mutated version of rheumatism from birth, quit dairy at 23/24 after hearing of other people solving their rheumatism that way and no more than 3 months later my battle with rheumatism came to an end :). Been pain free since then ( almost 4 years ) Edit: forgot to say, I mostly consumed milk, butter and cheese but sometimes on occasion Id have icecream, milk chocolate etc.
Iv been vegan now for nearly ten years and i`m more healthy and energetic at nearly sixty seven than i was previously on a rubbish meat dairy egg processed bad diet when my immune system was weaker, and had numerous colds and viruses/infections over the years. The mild cold i can remember having since being vegan was years ago. Plus the IBS and Asthma i`d had for over thirty years cleared up within weeks of going vegan. Vegan processed foods though should only be taken in small amounts and in moderation. I now have a good well balanced plant based diet with added b12 i get from yeast flakes and yeast extract and i couldn`t be happier and healthier.
I too had IBS for years while being a vegetarian still consuming dairy and eggs, now have become vegan plant-based eating and the IBS is gone. If I had only known this years ago I would have been so much happier. But glad I finally know now.
Re bone fractures for underweight vegans. I'm surprised you didn't bring up exercise with resistance and weights. It's just as important. I am both vegan and low bmi.I work out 3 times a week. My bone density is perfect.
Similar story as yours; I'm 40, stronger than half the guys half my age. I was doing pull-ups at the track after I finished running a mile. These teen-aged guys were walking by and one guy said he couldn't even do ONE pull-up.
This August, my husband and I will celebrate our 25th Veganniversary. ❤️ And this year marks our 5th year eating a WFPB (& vegan) diet. I wish we would have known about WFPB eating earlier, but we ate a pretty good vegan diet the whole time before that, at least. Now we eat more variety than we ever ate before we were vegan or even since going vegan. We love Dr Greger's Daily Dozen and all his info, especially. 💗 Vegan for the animals. ❤️ WFPB Vegan diet for my health. ❤️
Im 63 under 5ft weigh 46k, my 52 kilo bullmastiff has knocked me down many times running into me while playing with friends. Eventually my ribs broke - all healed now - didnt stop me walking my dog everyday. My non vegan friend's 40 kilo dog knocked her down - her dog also knocked me down. Im older than her. She drinks cows milk daily for her bones. She ended up having a hip replacement op. I jumped up and was completely fine. Another non vegan friend had her 50kilo dog rip her arm - she ended up in hospital and couldnt work for 5 months. Shes 12 yrs younger than me. My 52k mastiff took me for a flying lesson across my lawn. I jumped up and continued my day. Bf going Vegan I was very sick - I am grateful Im a compassionate person bc going Vegan saved my life
I have been eating plant-based for 5 years and people still don't get all these myths, it is food! I even know nutrition teachers and doctors (I worked for) that still tell people to eat dairy and meat, it amazes me.
I have a friend that all she eats is animal protein when to the doctor for a physical the doctor told her that she was anemic and that she needed a B12 supplement so I told her I thought you said we need animal protein to be healthy
Lowest safe BMI is 18.5. And new guideline for Asian normal BMI, the maximum BMI should be lower than 23, while hitting BMI 23 is considered as 'overweight' already. BMI calculation is based on: Weight (kilogram) ÷ Height (meter) ÷ Height (meter) All the best ;)
It's not really a myth, is it, that older vegans are more likely to have hip fractures than omnivores? You say that it's only the slightly underweight ones who are at risk, but from what I've seen, that means most of them.
See my image? I’m 67 right now and still strong 💪 most days I lift the 79lb engineers vice in and out of our metal machining mills. I’ve been veggy for nigh on 49 years now and vegan since 2018. Weak bones! Hahahahahahahaha! What a stupid attempt to keep people eating dead animals!
so basically plant based ladies need to lift weights! my mom is plant based (15+ years) and at 63 she has only cracked 1 rib when she fell 6 feet from a hammock 😬 she has always lifted weights 3x a week and gotten sun or taken vitamin D. i follow her rules and it is paying off ✌🏼 i also have celiac disease which predisposes me to less absorption of b12 and fat soluble vitamins. i get my blood done each year and it all looks good

we need to re-address the 'whole food plant based eating’ against 'vegan eating', The two can be very different. WFPB, is far healthier than being a VEGAN, ie, just sustituting meat n dairy with processed alternatives.
It's very simple. Set up some mma fights: vegan vs keto vs carnivore. I'm sure the elite vegan fighters with their superior muscle mass, endurance and bone density should have no problems.

You can still have cheeseburgers as vegan. Impossible burgers taste better than most cow flesh burgers and there are great vegan cheeses from several great companies like daiya and Miyoko kitehill etc. No reason to pay for unwatchable animal abuse for taste habit

I've been vegan / plant based for over 30 years, never broken a bone 🤷♂️
