Love that the metro makes it so accessible and you have the combination of a busy high street, lovely park and beach all together. And some great architecture/houses in places as well.
Thanks to this video we've decided to stay in South Shields this year on my visit back home. We live in.Valencia, Spain and are looking forward to some cool even rainy weather this week and next I the North. Your channels is great and I'm discovering all sorts about the area. Muchisimas gracias
You make South Shields seem a wonderful place. When we went it was a very different story. It was snowing horizontally, it was so cold, despite this I saw a man in shorts and trainers walking through the snow, my fingers/toes were frozen. There was hardly anyone about so we retreated to a pub. The people there were friendly, we were a novelty, Londoners. Loved the North, Newcastle, Whitley Bay. Will go back to South Shields on your recommendation, though not in the autumn PS we as asked for Pan Hagerty and Singin Hinnies but few knew what we were talking about. Keep up the good work. A softy southerner
You’re describing the weather, not the town 😃 Glad you enjoyed the visit and the video Dave. You should definitely visit when it’s hot and sunny. The beach is amazing! All the best 👍🏻
I live in North Tyneside and i am ashamed at the state of the coast here. North Tyneside council should take a ferryboat ride across the Tyne to see how it should be done , well done South Tyneside , it's always a pleasure to visit South Shields.
Thanks Eddie another amazing video. Brings back memories of me as a nipper visiting my grandparents back in the 70s. A trip to Minchellas for a knickerbocker glory or to the Marsden Grotto for a glass of pop and a back of crisps where two memorable highlights. Cheers mate and keep the videos coming!
I have studied for a year in Newcastle University from Sept 2020 to Sept 28th 2021, and even I have left Newcastle back to China in Nov 2021, I miss the view of South Shelds and the Tyne side area, and I am looking forward to going back to South Shelds for a trip in the future!
My hometown I'm about a 15mjn walk from where you were.. you take it for granted a little when you've had that all your life, nice to see through someone else's eyes. I would love to see some history on the grotto.. I'd imagine it'll be quite dark.. in my lifetime alone (41) I've known many people who have took their lives at that spot and a few killed.. I've heard it has an interesting story behind it
Couldn't agree more. I'm from next door in Jarrow and I'm very familiar with the whole beach area, having spent a lot of time down there as a youngster. I moved away years ago, but was home visiting family a couple of years back, and was just astounded how amazing Shields beach is. It was a beautiful sunny day and the sand was so yellow, the sea so blue. I truly was blown away. So nice to see it being given the credit it deserves on video and on YT. Thank you.
@@TynesideLife you’re welcome. Dogs are the best worst day of my life thus far when I lost my Boxer. The fact you are a dog lover means you have my respect even more. Great channel. Interesting Geordie nuggets you educate us with which as a 56 year old Geordie had no idea of. You’re doing Newcastle a real service! 👏👍🙌
Great stuff mate! You forget how nice it is down the coast etc. I work away from home (South shields) ... but I love coming back!! I've seen some right shitholes on my travels. But like they say HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS.
That's where I will be retiring in a few years I have had it planned for yrs . A little basement flat facing the park at the end of ocean rd will do me lol 🙂
Thank you for show casing my home town Eddie.. Feeling very home sick after that.. Could hammer a Minchella's 99 cone . Check out the Harbour lights, pub . At the top of Lawe Rd. Great views of the North and South piers ,And North Shields fish quay.. Good pint and food.. HWTL..
me and my friend Maurice used to cycle from Chester-Le-St to South Shields every weekend we loved it there this was in the early 70s it's changed a lot since then for the better
we lived in Sunderland back in the 80s and a day trip for 10p on the bus was the thing to do on a Saturday. last year my brother and I went back and its changed so much, shields is a really lovely town, the people are just lovely and the beaches and coastline and things to see and do are absolutely stunning. loved it so much we are going back this week.need to find a dog friendly beach this time!
@@TynesideLife oh thank you I think I wanna go to shields first, we are staying in whitley bay. I hope the weather's kind but we shall see, of the dogs happy im happy 😊 🌞 ☀️ ⛱️ 🌧 🌦 ⛱️ 😃 😊
@@TynesideLife theyre lovely dogs and so lucky to have that at their feet, I can't wait to show river my greyhound those amazing sandy and endless pale sandy beaches.
Good one you could do the local hero's in & around a lot of the walks you do but south sheild was one of the best palaces to visit for day out or night out
One of my favourite walks is along the cliffs. It’s really impressive along the front now too with all the activities on offer and food venues. Coleman’s restaurant is the finishing touch.
Shame that the council have to pick up litter. I’ve noticed the lack of respect folk have for their environment and discard litter that was heavier to carry in than when discarded. Tyneside and Northumberland are great locations. Thanks for sharing 🎉
Did you know that the Lees was and is a refuse dumping area and was covered over. My wife's grand farther drove a earth moving huge tractor and flattened the whole area. I live here and on ocean Road....its the best place in the world!!
Hello sir we have opened an indian restaurant in south shields . We would greatly benefit if you advertise some of our dishes. Can we get some time with you
I used to play my under 12's Football for South Tyneside just at Gypsies Green or however the fcuk you spell It...Just next to the new Coleman's Fish and Chip shop...Well...A Temple of Fish and Chips...

Great place to walk your dog but watch out for the dog wardens, no dogs allowed on the big beach in the summer and you need to have your dogs on a lead in South Marine park, probably because of all the wild life in there.
Eddie love your video about south shields years since I have been there it has changed it's really lovely 😊😊😊
