just to clarify something, absolute virtue in FF11 wasn't supposed to take that long to kill. it's mechanics were just poorly explained. when the devs finally showcased how to do the fight properly I think it took like an hour or something.
Adamantoise became a damage per second optimization benchmark for the players, who would speed kill it in a few minutes. But yeah,i feel many of FF16 design goals are to do correctly things FF15 fumble at, though it didnt even seem to attempt to do what FF15 was great at. Leading to my statement that there is no such thing as a best FF game, because every FF try to do something diferent and are better on some aspects and worst on others, and is what make the franchise really interesting to me.
They really could've made this fight less tedious than it already is. Imagine the empire joining in the fight, similar to the Titan or Leviathan fights in the story, or even have the npcs like Cor, the crownsguard or even Aranea pitch in even if it's during a small portion of the fight. Heck, even all of the summons could've joined in, alternating between each one of them, helping stun the Adamantoise so you can immediately attack its head. Nah, they decided to take the most tedious approach and have the boss die in such a boring way. Apparently they made this boss for marketing purposes - the fight that would take days to beat. Once they realized that they had to actually design the actually fight they didn't really know what to do with it, which is such a shame.
The moment I died landing the Regalia after beating the game and unlocking flying was the last time I ever played FF15. I couldn’t believe they’d punish the player like that! Imagine how hard I laughed at all the FF14 memes back in Stormblood when players realized the Regalia in 14 handled better than in 15 😂 Also, I just killed Adamantoise with the ring. Ain’t nobody got time!
Its a good thing we have a ring that can one shot it or, if you do fight it, an item that limit breaks damage that is greatly paired with Founders King Sigil + Scientia-Style Sushi that makes this fight like 2 minutes or so. Great EXP and Gil farm, great item for beating it, but the camera is, for me personally, the ONLY thing i hated about this lol but the camera was bad with most giant boss battles edit: Btw what i mean by gil farm is if you get the adamantite instead of the adamantoise meat you can sell it for 50k. You can use the ring to basically farm the mountain and if you stack 3 moogle charms, lasagna al forno(or whatever its called for 100% XP increase) then you not only get the 10k for the hunt, another 50k from selling the adamantite, but depending on how fast you can land the one shot with the ring you can get up to 200k XP in under a minute( or up to like 5 or 6 if your rng aint hittin quite right). Redo the quest and thats almost 2mill in around 30 minutes or less. One of the Best XP farms in the game right there
Can we appreciate for a moment that the horrible boss that was used for marketing and deceptive claims of "3 days to beat" was used as the thumbnail of the video, complete with the deceptive claim of "3 days to beat".
Wow... to tell you about how much I forgot about the later part of this game... I remember the turtle boss but didn't remember one aspect of the fight. Dang they just dropped the ball on the last ¼ of the game.
The hunts for the dungeon bosses don't actually show up until after you finish the dungeon once. It's an incentive to go back into the dungeon for further farming
Did he not get the summon for this fight? In my case Titan showed up and smacked the turtle around. The fight may be as horrible as it is, but that scene was great.
A little bit of backseat information but there is a secret dungeon which is only accessible via the flying card which isn’t explained or hinted at at all and will only ever be found through exploration. That’s all I’m going to say
If you want the easiest way to beat that damn turtle: elixir + the instant death spam from the ring + pray to rng for it to just proc = win. (Plz do the omega fight!)
"Im not going to use the flying car because we have fast travel an more efficient an we are gamers so...we dont do anything for cool points"....as a gamer, Ill always go for cool points.
to be fair, the most efficient way is not one button spam. Best method is swapping between a longsword and dual daggers in the air, letting you do an infinite air combo. With the right gear and setup, you can melt its health in 30 seconds. horrible fight without an optimized setup tho, just wanna make that clear
As the person who sent that TTS backseating message, I'd like to clarify by saying that 1. The available information I had about the game led me to believe he would need multiple hours to defeat the boss, and he started it late in the afternoon; 2. I was concerned Mike might have a meeting planned after his stream that would not allow him to finish the boss today. Looking back both of these were not really relevant and I should not have sent that message.
I had crap internet for the last eight months and haven't been able to follow Mike until about a week ago, meaning I've missed nearly all of his FF runs. But did he just say FF12 post game was the best in the franchise to him so far? Is he smoking rocks? Literally the only thing to do in that game is hunts, and several of them are annoying by either not telling you how to spawn stuff, requiring a maze like Omega, or being hp sinks like hell wyrm and yiazamat. That game didn't even have mini games. That is baffling. FF7 had hidden lore like the hidden waterfall, chocobo breeding, hidden materia finding, and tons of minigames. FF8 had tons of optional areas and GFs, plus TT. FFX had probably the best in game in my opinion with all the crap required to get ultimate weapons, plus the battle arena, plus hidden places like where Omega is at.

I really like this Diary Format. I hope you continue to do this for FF7 Rebirth once you get there :)

Mike getting TTS spammed even in an edited video. Looking forward to the office rats.

Think of all the fun that you'll have at the Happy Turtle
Hey Preach, these video diaries are great. Thanks for making them

thank god you can kill the turtle with the insta kill ring, even if it's a low hit chance
Wow... to tell you about how much I forgot about the later part of this game... I remember the turtle boss but didn't remember one aspect of the fight. Dang they just dropped the ball on the last ¼ of the game.

That’s all I’m going to say
There is one hint and that is overhearing a rumor in Lestallum at night
Amazing dungeon… But not even I would wish that on my worst enemy😭
Can you imagine a mountain sized turtle just rotting and stinking after killing it? Like, that alone would probably turn that area to a wasteland
I recommend the Terra Battle Collab Quest!
He did it before he left for Altissia.
8:14 Whoa, when did he learn about the dash? Would love to see the reaction to that lol.
i wanna see preach play FF13, that would have entertaining reactions, he'd probably go bald again
Based on what he said on stream, he'll start it on monday after he finished FF2
I remember adamantoise being for me a boss that was only available after the game ended bec you could use the ring of lucis to just one-shot it
If you want the easiest way to beat that damn turtle: elixir + the instant death spam from the ring + pray to rng for it to just proc = win. (Plz do the omega fight!)
post-omega you can kill it even easier with normal weapons. You can kill it in under a minute with no rng shenanagins.
I hope he goes into Comrades, its rough but so SO glossed over by almost everyone
He didnt btw
This boss was made for the achievement hunters since ps3/360/ps4 was the height of gamers no life-ing achievement lists.
"Im not going to use the flying car because we have fast travel an more efficient an we are gamers so...we dont do anything for cool points"....as a gamer, Ill always go for cool points.
You need to see Max0r's "Final Fantasy 15 "Review" | BTS Adventures™"
You know it's bad when a one button spam is the most efficient way to kill it
It's been years since i played the game but i remember the ring being able to 1 shot it on a really low %

horrible fight without an optimized setup tho, just wanna make that clear
Just use the ring and it will be an instant kill
@fredriklind6727 you can also use the drain ability and make the Adamantoise look really weird and spindley.
Is it really a spam if you can jist hold the button? 😅
THERE ARE 4 PANELS!
My friend killed that thing and told me how long it took him. I did not attempt it.
16:07 ... this fkn cap...
at some point you can only scratch your head wtf happened.
Was he not turtley enough for you?
Definitely not up to Turtle club standards 🐢
Knows it's a waste of time, wastes his time, complains about wasting his time. 10/10 instructions unclear.
theres an attack you can use that insta kills it lol

Pitioss
Vaan isn't the protagonist though. He's the audience surrogate. The protagonist role is split between Ashe and Basch.
Cope.
First ! What a bore fest ^"fight"

God forbid for having an opinion
I personally liked ff12's end game quite a lot, but i do agree with some of your points, its all opinions at the end of the day.
