Hi Billy, nice comparison of the Mini 3 to Mini 4, thank you. One advantage of the Mini 3 is that there are SDKs for the Mini 3 and Mini 3 Pro. That lets those drones do mapping applications using third party apps like Map Pilot Pro. An advantage of the DJI RC2 compared to the RC1 is that the RC2 has the ability to output HDMI using a USB-C to HDMI cable.
In the UK, the upgraded transmission on the Mini4pro has made no difference to the distance I can fly, in fact it is still the same as the Air, Air 2 and the S. Also the mini 3pro, none will out do the reach of one over the other. I know that it is down the CE transmission and the interference. Was hoping the 4pro could work its magic, but no joy. Best Dave
I made the jump from The mini 3 pro to mini 4. I really like seeing the homepoint on the screen. And a ? For ya. Mini 4 pro or mavic 3 classic if you had to pick only one?
On 3:33 the camera specs looks similar, but according to website, Mini 3 Pro is only able shot 1080p until 60FPS, Mini Pro 4 reaches 200. Also Mini 4 Pro reaches 100 FPS on 4K
Video Idea: I'd like to see these drones race both horizontal & vertical. I think you could just choose race markers side-by-side the footage of each drone to see if the acceleration speeds are noticeable, obviously the Mini 4 drops faster but maybe it gets to point-A to point-B faster too. The 4 is more round so it might be able to climb slightly quicker too. I need to do the math but for total air-time not-waisted... I wonder about the fun difference in a Mini 4 Pro Plus kit vs just getting an AIR 3. With the wild speed of an AIR 3 I imagine I'd be twice as likely to need the Flyaway/damage coverage which is basically like-the-cost of having a Mini with no coverage..
I have and like the Mini 3Pro, but ... BUT ... it's sooooo dissapointing that it doesn't have Waypoints!!!! Had I know that the Mini 4 Pro would be coming out when it did I would have waited for it (just like you Mavic 3 folks ... same dissapointment you have). Thanks Billy for your (always) great reviews. Cheers, Chuck (Jacksonville, FL)
I might have upgraded to the 4pro if it didn't change the filter mount for no reason. Also, from every tech company, can't stand software given to new models that can be on older models. Otherwise, just waiting for a future generation with at least 120fps 4k rather than 100. Hopefully a higher bitrate with 422 color, 1 inch sensor, and improved omnidirectional sensors.
just wanted to say a big thanks for this informative video. I have the original mavic mini and dont use it too much due to its limitations. I was considering a used Mavic 3, but after watching this, it makes sense to get the 4.
Willing to bet an attachment was added on the drone weighing it down a little more. That is an error that occurs when I put some payload on it occasionally.
What will get better in future minis? I think that chip technology will continue to improve giving us more processing power for higher framerates and more advanced computational photography/videography. Just as with the trend in smartphones, AI will continue to improve the quality we get from the same camera hardware. Additionally, sensor technology can improve without increasing weight. Arguably, battery technology can also improve. I don't predict the ability to have multiple cameras because of that weight budget, I think this will continue to be a feature of bigger drones. The ability to shoot vertical photos is a really nice trade-off though, maybe this will eventually get implemented into the bigger drones.
Oh Billy, this video from you is not helpful at all! LOL. Let me explain. I am trying desperately to hold on until the Mini5P only because I'm tired of chasing all upgrades from Apple and DJI. So when I watch videos like these, I get very tempted to just do it. You made the point asking, what more could they pack into a M5P? I've been asking myself the same question, which is basically now a crumbling of my resolve to hold off. Do you sense that I am talking myself into just taking the leap? And then I can kick myself in a year after I see what it is they can pack into the M5P. Thank you for all this great work you do. //Tom
Great video, but no one can answer my question I've been debating with these other drones guys.... My Skydio 2+ is down, should I pay for repairs knowing their current position or should I just move on to this DJI Mini 4 pro? Can you give me your honest opinion?
I can answer that... If your primary purpose for owning a drone is self tracking, repair the Skydio 2. If not, upgrade to the Mini 4. In my honest opinion, the only thing the S2 is good for is tracking. In every other way, the M4 is superior.
I really wanted the mini 3 pro but with the newer rc2 controller. But all I can find on Amazon and else where is the mini 3 pro with the original rc controller, bummer. I thought about buying the mini 3 pro and then buying the rc2 separate, but then it's almost the same price as the mini 4 pro with the rc2...
A lot different, especially the obstacle avoidance and the range. The mini 3 is not a significant update from mini 2, and I feel like it is set to be obsoleted very soon, you can tell from the battery compatible. But if DJI release mini 4 (no pro), it might be worth to upgrade.
The DJI MIni 4 Pro is best Mini drone yet. But I agree it's not a must upgrade if you already have the Mini 3 Pro. Unless you can't live without Waypoints and Omni-directional OA. Great review, and thanks for sharing Billy.
I don't believe the Oculus will work with these drones, if you really wanted the immersive FPV feel, i THINK you might be able to use DJI Goggles v2, DJI goggles 2, or DJI Goggles Integra - look into those options :)
I didn't see it but I believe you didn't mention the significance difference in the zoom feature in the Mp4 . In MP3 you could only double your zoom and clicking the screen. On the MP4 you can move the knob and have a variable zoom in and out
So a friend and I are splitting a gift for a relative who is a teenager and a budding photo/video enthusiast (uses an old Sony camera for video now) - one of us grabbed a Mini 3 pro when there was a deal at Best Buy for 699 with the RC2 vs the other grabbing the Mini 4 pro which is about 300 more. This is an extreme beginner getting this.. Is the min pro 4 with the waypoints and other advantages in your video an easier to learn system with more predictability? I have been arguing saying the avoidance system for since such a new flier is what will help most.. ( Mind you both of us have zero drone experience hence my search of You Tube videos for comparison.) We just want something that he can grow into and enjoy but not be so overwhelming he will quit. Any help would be appreciated. Just subscribed so I can check out other videos. Thanks.
There will be no difference as far as ease of use learning to fly the Mini 3 vs Mini 4. The features offered in the Mini 4 pro just gives more refinements (like Billy said). I think the consensus is if you don't already own Mini 3 Pro you should buy Mini 4 Pro, but its personal decision if the upgrading from 3 to 4 is worth it to you.
@@riskybusiness5 thanks for the response. We have to return 1 (He is getting one as Christmas gift). Kind of like the gift of the Magi story- we didnt talk and one of us bought the mini pro 3 and the other bought the mini pro 4. He is going to be brand new to the hobby, and never flown a drone. We got him the classes at local college. But I get the gist of your comment, thanks.
My mini 3 pro is hard to beat. It has been a great unit for over a year. Maybe when they make a mini 5 I will jump over. But until then. I will stay where I am.
Mavic 4 comes out as big surprise soon (Xmas secret, but I have kontaks heh heh 😊).. Flys at 200km/h in ultra sport mode and has mini jet pack system as well as 90 minute battery flight time....
All these review videos, and not one you tuber has reviewed the collision avoidance system on the mini 4 pro! A big mention at the beginning of this video, explaining that the mini 4 pro has a better collision avoidance system and sensors, yet no testing of this feature by this reviewer! This is bad reviewing when such you tubers seem more concerned with plugging 1minute ad slots in their uploads than actually doing proper reviews!
My sister started flying with my old mini 1 and I sent her your video on the mini 1 Thanks for all your hard work
That’s awesome! I love the Mini 1
I just got the mini 4 pro recently, and I'm loving it.
Cool. It's an awesome drone.
Do they have the same propellers or different ones? Which drone makes the most noise, please test it?
Hi Billy, nice comparison of the Mini 3 to Mini 4, thank you. One advantage of the Mini 3 is that there are SDKs for the Mini 3 and Mini 3 Pro. Good points, thanks for leaving this comment!
I thought the RC1 for Mini 3 Pro did not allow third party apps....
But the Mini 3 Pro can use the RC Pro while the Mini 4 Pro cannot.
I watched a couple of comparison videos between these 2 drones, this one was the best.
Thanks 😎

Can't fault DJI for a government issue.
Billy Kyle makes UA-cam videos? Who knew?
Lmfao
Are the Batteries the same for both.. If I upgrade can I use the batteries I already have?
Yes
Yes, it's the same battery for both drone

Per usual. Love the review Billy. Thank you!! Still on the fence of jumping from my Mini 3 Pro to the 4
Thanks Bob! I know you are on the fence... I think you should just do it 😎

I know! Same! And now I can't return mine because I crashed it lol... Gonna have to find a local buyer.
but does the mini 4 pro make a good cup of tea?

You’d think they would make it the same so people would be more likely to upgrade
Stacked cmos sensor may be better than 1 inch older tech
I’m looking for my first drone for my travel this spring. Is it worth getting 3pro or just bite the bullet and get min4pro? Ty.
@Conrad1978 it’s been seven months. Which one did you purchase?
Do you speed up the talking portion a touch?
Which drone would you recommend for real estate photography? With the possible DJI ban, I'm nervous buying a DJI with a possible ban

What was that weird battery overcurrent error at 6:56? Does it draw more juice than the battery can provide or something?
Willing to bet an attachment was added on the drone weighing it down a little more. That is an error that occurs when I put some payload on it occasionally.

0:38 mini 3 pro doesn’t have an auxiliary led only mini 4 pro does for now that’s a mistake!
You probably should have made the video then since you know so much
@@billykyle Wow. Someone points out a mistake and that's how you answer? Guess I'll find another channel.

Does the Mini 4 Pro still suffer from heat issues, which I know happened with the 3 Pro

Get it fixed and buy the Mini 4 Pro , best of both worlds , there will never be another consumer Skydio so you might as well have it repaired.
Does the mini 3 pro have asteroid mode
I am happy with my upgrade from Mini 2 to Mini 4 Pro ))
That’s a great upgrade
Do you speed up the content a touch when you edit these videos ?
Has the mini 3 got waypoints now ?
Btw d cinelike on mini3pro 10bit aswell if shot in h265 i think
well done, thanks for your efforts

More to go wrong with M4P. Returned it and got the can't- go- wrong- proven Mini 3.
Im saved… I was wondering where you’ve been dude lol
Went on a small hiatus
@@billykyletotally fine! (:
The only place to go now is quieter/smaller/more wind-resistant drones.
Will my mini pro 3 remote work with the mini pro 4?
I got the mini 2 and wanna upgrade. Based on this the mini 4 is not a massive upgrade like from the 2 to the mini 3 pro. I think I'll get the 3 pro
You can probably save some money getting the Mini 3 Pro too. Good option
Only $100-$150 difference between the 3pro and 4pro.
Where
What was that internal storage warning?
I just had my storage filled up. Haha
Waypoints are all that matters
I didn't see it but I believe you didn't mention the significance difference in the zoom feature in the Mp4 . In MP3 you could only double your zoom and clicking the screen. On the MP4 you can move the knob and have a variable zoom in and out
Incorrect.
Don't spread misinformation
next step would be change from heavy plastics to lighter stronger materials :)
