Thanks for this without your walk-through modified by Joshua, I'm not sure I'd have even known where to look - I was looking for a merchant to sell me a spirit stone too and since there is always a resplendent chest on the 2nd level the time taken was not too bad!
I found this dungeon today 10/24/12 at southern highlands while on the quest Trailing the Coven along the west / left side of the map. Been running northern highlands for a week now trying to spawn "The Watch Tower" to no avail. I ran through southern map during the quest once and found it. Did not find Vendal for the Lore "Scabbard of talic the defender". Was disconnected shorly leaving the dungeon and was lucky enough to spawn on the merchant cart for a 2nd try at the tower. Finaly got it!!!
Awwww I'm sorry that you are so unlucky.. and sadly there are several designs he can show up in. When I was exploring the fields over and over again for this guide I always checked for the tower. I didn't had a quest spawn for several days. And believe me, I have been in the tower a loooot of times now. Only had the quest spawn 2 times. I hope you will get it soon, good luck! xox XXinda
I likewise found it in the Southern Highlands. No spawn in the Northern Highlands after 30 tries and noticed your post was after patch 1.5 so thought maybe they have moved it! Less than an hour later and 14 tries (seven with the Tower) and the quest appears. Helps that I used my super speedy Demon hunter with 120% movement bonus when using the smoke screen - really speeds up these achievement hunts as don't need to bother with the enemy too much...
Hey there Robinson. Thanks for your alert. But it spawns in the Southern Fields since path 1.5 as I have put in the anotation at the start of the video.
hiya Carlols, it should not matter if or on what quest you are on. Did you read that somewhere? The Scabbard is just a rare spawn and can take a lot of runs. Maybe there are coincidences, but it spawns totaly random in every difficulty.

yo, no problem. I couldn't find a hit on youtube for the scabbard, so I figured I make one. I'm working on making a map with all the spawnpoints of the journals in the Old ruins and old tristram road. stay tuned :P
Hey there :P As far as I know the questgiver always stands at the start of lvl 2. But that's only my experience. So I'm not a 100% shure. If I were you I would just run the 2nd lvl aswell. There are always Elites or Champions there. xox Xxinda
Did 10 runs on normal, nothing.. then i swapped to Nightmare and he came first go ! Runs are extremly fast.. even 30 runs will take a max of 1 hour. Movement speed is key
hey there. Nope, the difficulty does not matter. That folks got it spawn in a higher difficulty after doing a lot on lower is just a coincidence. If you are very unlucky it will take you 50+ runs. It took me about 30 runs. xox Xxinda
Hey there, have you heard about "D3 MaxOut Turbo" (search on Google for it)? On their website you can watch a great free video demonstrating the right way to speed run Diablo 3. This made it possible for Pete to speed level in Diablo 3 and thus max out his character very quickly. I hope it will help you as well...
Hey there, have you tried "D3Max Out Turbo" (just search on Google for it ...)? There you can watch a nice free video explaining how you can speed run Diablo 3. It made it easier for Danny to speed level through Diablo 3 and then max out his character very fast. It may work for you too.

i have run through this dungeon like 30 times on the newest patch (PS3) and i still cant get the guy to spawn on level 2. can anyone confirm that he still spawns there?
hiya Brick. I double checked diablowiki for you, it is updated for this patch so it should still spawn in the tower lvl 2. additional info: The chances of these two spawning are quite different. The Tower itself spawns about 50% of the time, although some players have had to attempt 100+ runs, and always in the same place. Vendel, however, is more like 2-5% . It's not unlikely to try this 20+ times before you get it (some have reported having tried 100+ attempts). So yeah.. good luck :P

You can also buy a spirit stone (random) from Wandering Tinker in Fields of Misery (little nook area with some stairs north most). Nice video!

Thanks for the video, the site I was looking at said the quest giver was on the first level. I probably did 40 runs for nothing.

They apparently changed it in the last update. I personally haven't had luck with either.

Just ran this probably 50+ times, no luck. Just to be sure, IF the guy spawns, he always spawns at the entrance of Level 2?

Stephanie Crocker its rare as hell but it happened for me after i spawned it like 40-50 times. takes like 100+ reloads
