Been getting estimates lately with tree services about a couple of large red cedars in my backyard. They are starting to rot out and one service said that if they fall on neighbor's property and we knew they were dead/dying, that insurance wouldn't cover it. So we kinda need em gone, watching all your videos makes me want to do it myself, but I know I'm NOWHERE near being even capable of THINKING about it!!!! Lol. Much respect to you and what you do, and like I said in my last comment, super proud to see a fellow ex-con doing his part to better himself and surroundings. The system doesn't make it easy, but well done brother! Keep up the great content!
If your tree falls on your neighbor's property then it's an act of God. Your neighbor has no recourse on you or your insurance company. It is incumbent on them to inform you via certified letter that they suspect that your tree is hazardous. If they have expressed their concerns in this verifiable way then you may be liable for damages. Hope this helps.

With a tree like that is there a benefit to putting a 2" DOT strap around the trunk of the tree and tightening it down with a racket before working on a tree like that or would that not make a difference? Have you noticed the newer 562XP AT leaking bar oil under the muffler, where the two clamshell halves join? Mine has since day one. I have no doubt the dealer will fix it under warranty, but wtf? I thought they dealt with, and solved, that issue years ago.

Just a note: Purchase high quality SD cards - ie: Lexan - Class 10 - 1000 X speed - (64 Gig) for high quality video. B+H Photo - or Google search for a better price. Your existing SD cards can not keep up to your camera output (I surmise). Class 10 is the important number here. Keep up the great videos!
Sweetgums are worthless. We had one cut down a few months ago that was growing right next to my garage and my neighbors house on the property line, and once they started cutting it was rotting from the inside out. We're in a hurricane zone and glad it's gone. At least it didn't look nearly as bad as that one did.
The only thing I've found good about sweet gum trees is they are great to use a climbing tree stand in to hunt. The trunks are really straight and the bark gives a good bite to the stand. Other than that they are awful to cut, impossible to split without a hyd. splitter and burn like crap once they've dried out.
Starting to work at a family friends tree service company on Monday. Going to be working 40 hours a week 8 hours a day. I get paid lunch and weekends off. I’ve watched about 80 videos of yours the past 2 days and they are oddly entertaining. I’m not too sure what to expect from the job if I’m going to come home feeling dead, or if I’m going to love it. I’m excited to get on my feet and start making some money but a little nervous on the labor I’m gonna have to do. I’m an outdoors guy and I have went to the gym regularly for about 4 years but I’m still just 15. Any tips or things I should know/need before I start? Thanks keep up the great work

Its terrible in South Western and Central Ontario Canada right now ,literally millions of all Ash species dead and dying , many people trying to get their land logged but with all the Ash being put on the market its driven the price way down . I _hate_ Gum trees. I've never had to fell any trees, myself, but I've done plenty of clean-up. Though, I was wondering if you had any pointers for sawing on felled logs? I know some basic stuff, but I still end up pinching my bar, every once in a while.

Got a question for you, Have you tried the 550xp? I made the mistake of going to my Stihl/Husky dealer since I had a rain day this morning and was drooling over the 562 & 550xp's. I have run the 550xp before when I was working with the local county parks & recreation tree care department last for Emerald Ash Borer control & removal. I think the 550 is similar in size to the Stihl 261 or 241 but I'm not 100% sure. I liked the 550xp in particular because once it was warmed up the acceleration was spot on an instant from idle to full throttle, the parks head arborist says it's a mini Ferrari lol Anyways if you do get yourself a 550 please do let me know what you think of it.
The 550 is the new 346 NE, great little screamers ! I love my 346. Now I'm coveting a 576.... I think those two would be a good match... I was considering a 562 but I'm thinking it's too close to a 550 to make much difference?

Any time you see black coffee like that in the tree....its usually from grubbs....grubbs turn into black beetles eventually but ive seen where a dozen grubbs can make wheelbarrows full of poop
I wonder if they can make a camera that has redundant sd cards so if one fails you still got the footage. And if you don’t want that feature it’s will just be extra memory.
There are some high end cameras that take 2 SD cards so that when one is full its swaps to the other but I'm not sure about redundancy. Then again I'm just speaking from experience. I've only ever had one nice video camera ($850) and that was a few years back. No idea what you can get now.
Yeah pro level DSLRs have redundant memory cards but you're talking about pretty expensive hardware and they definitely know they've got you over a barrel as a professional who can't afford to lose data due to bad cards. You pay for it through the nose.
Next time use two lanyards or tight bull rope around split at bottom and then half way before forks and it be safe to climb or to come along the tops one ag time .. God job tho but can save a lot money in equipment the old school way

if you do it make sure you have a guide line and the notch is good with the back cut.

Find which side is compression, and which is tension, don't cut compression side.

In my area, $3K but seeing as it was storm damage $4K / $5K it is always more dangerous doing them after they fail.
