      You are supposed to rev it at full throttle for 3 sec to make sure the brake is fully functional :) says so in the instructions of my stil

    When you tighten your chain, set the saw upright and pick up or prop up the tip of the bar, then tighten till you see 2-3 drivers when you pull on the chain.

    I would turn the oil screw that's underneath all the way open for full oil especially on that saw and the way you cut 👍🏽

    Dude, you need some sawyer chaps and decent cut proof boots with a saw like that. Former professional logger in NZ for what it’s worth… loved my MS 660. Be safe man! 🤙🏻

      660 was plenty big for me. And I think way more powerful than the current 881ms. I haven't used one yet but I see a bunch of pro loggers going back to the older saws

    881 using a 3/8 chain is an absolute beast. But also capable of a using bigger sprocket to handle a 404 chain and any bar over 48 inches.

      @@secretguyoz2 Yup years ago my one and only error with a chainsaw. Slipped right towards my knee and missed it by a couple centimeters. Crazy lucky, otherwise who knows how deep it would cut.

    12:44 chain is quite dry. Also you can see brownish color which indicates that bar got too hot. Check oil and oil settings(screw underneath)

    In watching a video of these made here in the states in Virginia Beach, they do test run each motor, which would explain the discoloration on the muffler.

    There was an 88 but they stopped making them. Good for milling. Used to use the 66 every day

      088, 880, 881 just different revisions of the same model. I actually prefer the 088, 066, 026 over the later models

    Biggest Stihl I ever ran was an 090 with a 48 in bar n chain. Circa yr 94/95

      We used to run 088s,090s and 3120s with 5 or 6 foot bars ripping big logs that were too heavy to fly with the helicopters. Hello from British Columbia 🇨🇦

      Stihl 070 with 42" bar is the most common chainsaw we are using in the Philippines. For ripping bigger logs we use extended bar 65" or over.

    GUZOLINE ! You need this horsepower ? Even on east coast of Australia where everything is big dence hardwood this is overkill. MS661 is quite heavy compared to MS500i which is 1kg lighter but with nearly as much power. I just got a 500i very happy so far

    You might need to get a new chain man just saying because it looks like you went in the dirt, and I do agree with getting your hands on some safety gear other than gloves, I get it you want to play with your new toy but thing can take your leg off. Also to prevent chain in the dirt think about mounting logs or a log roller simple and easy to use. Stay safe man!
