Well done! 👍👏👏👏 it’s a battle of the mind as well as the physical challenge. Did it 1.5yrs ago.. 10.5hrs. The worst part for me was my feet, ached so much.. I went through the same questions as you
@@lonecyclist I had a set plan.. 52-55 mins per ascent. Eat, nature calls, and change of any clothes that were too sweaty. Recorded the whole thing on UA-cam.. lol. Only cos I don’t know how to edited. Had planned to try and beat that time but do it for charity.. Parkinson’s disease because my mum has been diagnosed last year with it.
That's sounds great, however I'm afraid it won't be recognised by the everesting.cc. According to their rules you must use one hill only and no loops are allowed. Obviously you can still ride it, but if you want to see your name in the Hall of Fame, double check the rules.
@@lonecyclist oh yes I understand that. This is my 3-4 times doing this. Trying to do Distance and elevation. Actually the goal is 500Km x 10,000 Mt. I only been back riding for a month now due to the nature of my job in Europe anf Africa. But next year will do the Everest CC attempt. Keep up the good work brother
I did mine middle of this year, after a few laps I started taking recovery at the top of the hill without rolling down, then I would get back on the bike and roll down while soft pedaling. I wasn't helping my time I'd bet, but I felt better starting each climb with warm legs.
Hi! I'm sure you'll smash it! I'd suggest stay in your Z2 / endurance range. It's a long effort, pace yourself carefully. That time for me it was ~200-220W but it varies depends on your weight and performance. Good luck!
@@Evower1 Unfortunately it's just ignorance of yours doing this calculation. The average power counts descending at 0W. If you checked the activity a bit more diligently, you'd find out that on laps 1-5 I kept consistent average power of 212W, 180W on lap 6, 200W on lap 7, 190W on lap 8 and +220W on lap 9. I think I was 78-79 kg that time, so on my first laps the power was 2.7 W/kg. I hope that helps.
Hi Todd! Actually that's the thing I should do better. I did not have any plan for nutrition during the challenge. I usually had 2 or 3 gels on the way up and then something more solid during the break (banana, porridge oats, pizza). I definitely should have planned for this.
@@lonecyclist Thanks for the response. Why did you choose gels (mostly sucrose)? Were you looking for fast recovery, which is what sugar does. Just wondering, that's all. I'd add some type of salt to your eating as well to replace what you lost (like gatorade).
@@toddtonis Sorry for the late reply. I find gels pretty convenient. I'm sure could have done better on this. I burnt 850 kcal per lap. I certainly did not cover this with the intake. But as I mentioned, I haven't planned the meals at all.
Well done, Mate! Was there ever a worry that the iPAD would run out of juice even if you kept it plugged in? And was there ever a worry that you may lose your connection during the attempt?
Oh yeah, Zwift’s draining the battery faster than it can be charged, but luckily it was enough for this ride. I didn’t have any connectivity issues this time. I think I ever expected it one time a few years ago, and never since then. 👍🏻
Hi men, congrats for the Everesting, do you have any connection problem during the ride? What happen if i have a sensor desconnection, i lose the data?
Thanks! I didn't experience any issues that time but I know it happens sometimes. You can have two types of issues: sensor connectivity - you just need to try to reconnect the sensor and continue the ride (without ending / closing the app) or Internet connection issues - when Zwift lost connection to the server - ofter this issue is intermittent and Zwift can recover from it (reconnect) while you continue the ride. The worst case scenario is when it cannot reconnect - you can continue the ride, but it won't be saved on you Zwift account (and you won't be granted the Zwift badge), however you can always get the original fit file (it will contain your full ride) and then upload it to Strava.
Lycra helps you deal with aerodynamics on a bike to take the unpredictable winds you will be fighting on the road. what is it doing for you on a stationary bike?
Well, I don’t like do cycling naked, I guess. It also transfers sweat out from your skin (at least for a while). It also protects from the fan wind (I don’t like the blow directly to the wet skin to not get cold).
@@TheKillerman3333 Try to cycle indoors in a baggy shorts - I don't think that works well. Also a normal, cotton t-shirt keeps much more water than lycra. Personally I don't find lycra uncomfortable, I'd rather say I like my cycling clothes. There is absolutely no point for me to change to "more comfy" ones.
Well, it depends which test I take. According to the standard test it’s ~280W (but I really doubt I could keep it for an hour), but the Wahoo SYSTM 4D profile says ~250W what would be closer to the reality.

Stepping off the bike for a break while the avatar freewheels down seems a bit wrong too. Sorry, not knocking your effort but I think this is completely overhauled and made out as something that it's not. It probably doesn't even equal a real world half-everest but that's just my opinion.
