My spouse and son love drinking Crystal Light sugar-free lemonade in the summer (the only diet beverage they'll both tolerate). The empty containers are just the right size to store crochet hooks! I have been saving the lids to the containers as well (for storage in project bags), but what I plan to do with the lot of them is to cover them with fancy duct tape (or Contact paper) and stickers, and use them without lids for hook storage in my craft room (pencil-cup style).

I keep an old case from my glasses in each whip bag. I keep a small scissors, a needle and stitch markers in the cases. The cases I use are hard cases that are spring loaded to open and close with a snap.

My tip is to buy a nice souvenir bag from your vacation or a Broadway show, etc and use them as project bags. I have wonderful bags from Disneyland, Hawaii, the musical Aladdin and when I use them, I remember the good time I had there. Right now, I have about half a dozen wips that I rotate and work on. I'm finishing up end of the school year teacher gifts.

Many of us happy hookers don’t like the weaving in the ends part that much. So what I do is every time I have to put down my work (to get something or because life happens), when I come back the first thing I do is weave in the ends that appeared so far and then go on with the fun part. So I don’t have to interrupt my crochet flow because I just picked the work up again and it helps me to not be overwhelmed by all the yarn tails when the project is finished. 🤗 ~ Kat

Hey Krista, I love getting mail as well. I like keeping my projects in a project bag with all that I need for them, which includes the hook or needles. This helps me keep my whips down and get the projected done before I start something new. I only have so many hooks or needles in each size I like to work with. I have a little toothpick hold the shape of an owl that holds my sewing in needles next to my chair. I keep my best pair of snips their as well. I have a red flower pot that is shaped like an owl that holds all my hooks and some of my needles. I have got straight needles, double pointed needles and circular needles in mason jars next to my bed. I have my yarn in totes to keep bugs out and puppy. She will eat my yarn if she feels that it has got more love then her for the day. I have only been knitting for about 8 months but I started loom knitting 9 years ago. Then I learned to crochet but hurt my right arm and can't crochet right know. So knitting will I watch you and get caught up. We moved last month and it took a week to pack up, 2 days to load, 2.5 days to drive because of the weather, 2 weeks to unload and set up house. I have only had the internet for a week or so. We moved from Illinois to Louisiana and all the yarn shops are an hour away from me. Can you ask if anyone lives in Louisiana to say hi so maybe I can find crochet, knitting group to join? Thanks!! Oh, I would like to know something your oldest boy is into. I have something for your little boys and your daughter but not sure for him. I also have something for you as well. I'm sorry so long. love ya, Tina

I keep needles in cosmetic bags or old wallets in project bags. I do have a larger plastic case for general needle keeping. I have a great many needles as I have a few of my mother and grandmother’s. Also, I like the needle color to match the yarn. Having small hands, I like the aluminum hooks. Love your wrap per inch trick. Never heard that - Thx!!! Number of WIP’s.... Well, some of my older ones I am keeping to frog. Current ones include a prayer shawl, one hexagon cardigan, and one infant set - a baby afghan and mom shawl set for a local outreach mission group. My biggest WIP is my craft room. Wish me luck!

You are doing great pronouncing my name! It took me a while to get used to saying it (I am not hispanic and it is an unusual name for a Latin American...my husband is special! Only family on the island with that name!). The best way I can tell you how to say it is this way: de = day
Espacio: e-spa-sea-O (short e at the beginning, long O at the end).

Hi Christa, Sonja Rudman from South Africa (Johannesburg). My favourite hack that I use is.... a toilet roll holder to hold my thin crochet thread (Elle No 5 lurex). It keeps the thread from tangling and it rolls down easy while crocheting. I just love it and it makes my life very easy. Thank you for your videos and for everything you share with us. Love the sack 😊. I have four WIPs at the moment. I can’t seem to stick to one thing 😏.
One tip that I swear by is to place a stitch marker in the first and last stitch of every row - moving them up as you work. It’s such a godsend for straight edges and making sure you don’t miss a stitch.

Hi Crista, thank you for answering my questions :)
Wips: just finished one crochet project - a bathmat, and technically have 3 on the hook/needles, (but actually will be 6, as can only do 1 at a time)...making school beanies for 4 grandsons, and socks for daughter's boyfriend/partner, 'cause it's getting a bit chilly here, (a southerly buster came up through The Bight about 3 days ago and dumped snow in some areas and just plain cold everywhere else!) and a bed cover I started for mum 3 years ago, but still haven't finished and she won't ever see completed, as we lost her 2 years ago...I can be a bit slow sometimes, but maybe one day it'll get done :/

I usually try to finish a project before I start another one but I do have a couple that have been in time out for a very long time!! Enjoyed the podcast as always, you are a “hoot”!!

Caught you live in the middle of the night on Sunday. You were at the post office and I had insomnia. Haha. I loved it. Dont know that I'd be joing you every time but wouldn't mind if you did more.

I use Qtip plastic containers (small ones) for yarn needles and safety pin markers. Also standup paper towel holders for the hair scrunchies I make 😁 Love your shawl too

Oh my GOODNESS Christa....when you said that you wanted to be a teacher.....Our son is 17 yrs old and has Cerebral Palsy. He cannot walk, talk, sit up, feed himself, is blind, etc.....and is our life, our happiness, our EVERYTHING!!!!! You Christa would have been an AMAZING SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER!!!!!!!!
I know that you didn't say what type of teacher you wanted to be but oh my, you would have been a blessing to our special children. Your energy is beautiful!

My husband has been helping me design a "leg sack" for our son who is in a wheelchair. We live in Minnesota 🥶🥶🥶🥶 his legs are always cold. We wrap with a blanket but not very effective. So im going to be starting a leg sack like yours except open down the middle with velcro to close it.

I have 7 WIPS I think, no finished objects yet & so many projects in the dreaming up stage & 3 on my list of things to do...LOL! I love how you're filling up your shelves but I still see some empty spaces...LOL! Thank you for all you do, you are awesome!
QOTW - My tips or tricks would be first, great way to use up yarn scraps or ends, instead of throwing them out, collect them and if you are making a tighter stitch project that requires stuffing use the scraps as stuffing. Second, if you're using a pattern that has multi rows that you need to keep track of put your pattern down in a plastic sheet protector and use a dry erase marker to mark off rows on the plastic. Use a binder clip to make sure the pattern is secure enough not to move a row up or down from your marks.
I have a multi part question for you Christa...Kenya's currency is the Kenyan Shilling. I'm curious to know if the same currency is used in other parts of Africa and if US dollars are widely accepted or even accepted at all? Also, what other currency (if any) could an international traveler use there. Are credit cards used without issue and are ATM's available in most areas?

I'm in California right now & we're getting loaded to head back to Texas. Working on my projects as we go but somehow I seem quite slow. LOVE LOVE LOVE all your projects.

My tip is make an extra copy of your pattern and keep it in a UFO folder with all your other unfinished projects. That way if you misplace the instructions you will always have a copy at hand.
