    He can lead the race but he needs to be like Mo Farrah where he takes over with 2 laps to go then turns up the heat.

    Jakob felt overly confident after running 3.26 a few days earlier he was trying to run 3.25 but after opening in mid 54 he crashed at 3 mins and an Elephant fell on he's head. He would have had a better chance of he stayed back and pushed hard from 2 mins but the 3 guy's should thank Jakob for the Olympic record and great times. Hope Jakobs redeems himself in the 5000m get's the record he deserves and most importantly acts nice towards he's competitors

    His problem is he doesn't have much of a kick. That suggests he needs a coach with some experience with kicking/ sprint drills, weight training, etc. A little bit of a kick at his endurance strength, and he'd be great. If that race were 2 seconds slower, say if he tried to sit and kick with his current abilities, he'd have come in last instead of 4th. Kicking is something that needs to be trained for.

      @@JakeCoulterr If he's not a natural kicker but he's a record breaker with a pace maker, surely a solution for him might be to become better at pace making himself? I know the pace maker helps but he doesn't need a WR to win a championship...he screwed up with his pacing, he may still not have won but it would have been a damn site closer.

      You guys who are telling that Jacob has no kick,are totally wrong,and I will tell you why.In this 1500 m final Hocker won with a last lap of 53,3 where he ran for his life.and Kerr who was in front of Hocker until the end must have had an even slower lat lap than that. 4:46 After running this and after meeting the wall,becauce he opened the first lap,may be 2 second too fast.Next Day afteer just 16 hour after this hard 1500 m Jacob ran a trial at the 5 k,which he won,3 days later the final of the 5 k in Paris was won by Jacob after a final mile at 3,53 and with a final lap unpressed at 53,27,and that tell me that he has at least the kick of Hocker and especially Kerr.Therefore I think had he not opened the first lap two second too fast,and if he had not speeded up again when he got a couple of meters,and got a bit eager,I sincerly mean he would has won the 1500 final.

    Jacob is going to be ok, it’s a race,not life..I do believe he will be the one to break the world record in 1500, why, no one else will take a blistering lead like him..Jacob reminds me of Prefontaine, always took the lead until he runs out of gas..Jacob gave it his all, no shame, without him no one would have went under 3.30..I like the way Yared runs from the front, like Jacob..If u look at their times the both of them have more sub 3.30 times..A kicker won’t break the WR, u need someone who will take the lead and push themselves to the max..Jacob is a much better all around runner, and he is not afraid to lead from the front to go after those records, a kicker is never going to do that..I would take a runner like Jacob over a wait and kick any day, like I said Jacob reminds me of Pre, who was such an exciting runner to watch..Jacob will be breaking more WR in his career, than Josh..I do beleive Jacob has learned a lesson of keeping his mouth shut and just let his times speak for him..Watch out for this has really set him on fire I beleive..Jacob is a better 5000 runner it’s fits his style of running..U will never see Josh run a super fast 5000, can’t handle the sustain killer pace..I liked Cole taking on the 5000 this year and break sun 13, 5000, running a 12.58..Cole understand that what u need to be great..Anyway the middle distance runs are so exciting today, and the runners need to hold heads high..How about that young stud Hobbs, 3.29, 1500 meter, he going to be tough in the 800 meters..So everyone lay off Jacob, because he will be bringing us more exciting races for u to enjoy..Guys like him gives up world records..oh well time to enjoy another exciting race..

  • @JohnByler7
    @JohnByler7 Місяць тому +3

    100% this is the problem. Everyone runs much faster with someone in front of them, he needs to wait longer to take the lead. To get technical, when you have someone in front of you, they break the wind and block some of the air resistance giving you a slight energy relief (~4% maximum at his speed). Usually, it’s less than that because it’s difficult to stay exactly behind the person and close enough to them. If he waits 700m and takes the lead though, he 100% wins.

    I agree with the excuses thing - but in Paris post 1500m final was the first time he didn’t make any , he kinda just owned it and said he tried and went out maybe a bit too hard, exact words “100m too far today”, interesting he didn’t make an excuse for once, maybe he knew he physically just couldn’t have won that race, alongside this hocker could have won by more had Jakob not have cut him off with 100m to go before then drifting wide worrying about Kerr and allowing Cole to slip through for the W

    I don't see any way he wins this race. He goes out fast and he lost but if he goes out slower he still gets out kicked and loses. He could win if he had a pacer pulling him to 3:26 but that won't happen in an Olympic final. This race was faster than Tokyo where Tim C. helped lead the race.

    This race pained me a a fan of Jacob for years. Im glad America won but still wanted to see jacob win. Jacob probably has too much raw talent to get anything less than 2nd if he runs a well paced race and is probably the only one of all those runner that could potentially break or get closest to the WR 1500..but in order for him to do that Jacob kinda needs someone to pace him and make him use his energy most efficiently and he can’t use up everything in the first 3 laps… he probably has the most efficient anaerobic engine and raw talent compared to the other 1500m runners but just doesn’t have the closing power like a lot of them… he wouldn’t need closing speed if he ran a perfect efficient race but thats not an easy thing to do unless you have a good pacer. I know Jacob is a better runner overall and has more talent that the other 1500m runners because you see a lot of them are not in the 5000m… what does that tell you. He’s probably the only one who could break el gerruj WR but he has to pace it perfectly… sad for him. It makes you wonder what would have happened if he paced the race perfectly instead of going too fast early.. I think he would have won and maybe been closest to a new wr… sadly ppl are going to use this race as an argument he’s not good or overrated but I think ppl are just mad about things he’s said and not understanding the nuance of a distance race.. you could be the best runner and still lose like Jacob did if you don’t pace your race properly. You could be the best runner and lose because someone else had a day where they just felt unstoppable and you didn’t feel great.. it would be interesting to see what would happen if you could re run this race with different pace.

    • @JakeCoulterr
      @JakeCoulterr  Місяць тому

      Ya he will definitely have more championship success in the 5000 over his carreer just because he needs that pacer. I can see him getting the WR if the race is paved right just not another Olympic gold in the 1500 but 5000 for sure

      I dont know which nationsøity you are.A couple of hour after the race Jacob was interviewed in norwegian TV,and of course he was dissapointed,and as he said,he is his own grestest enemy.The problem at the race was,that he felt to great,and therefore he was shocked when he saw the opening pace that was one second faster than the world record,then he tried to slow down,but the result was nearly the same pace,then he got a couple of meters,and got too eager,and therefore run too fast,so later when he should kick,he run out of gas,so his conclusion was that his opening in the first 400m was a couple of second too fast.So there you have it he felt so fine that he opened too fast.He said that the other thst outkicked him was great sthleyrs do he had to run fast,but not so fast as he did this time.May be it can hsve domething to say that he just come back after being injured for 8 months,udually he use to run the indoor season,but this time being injured,he lost a lot of training,and lost a lot of competition in the wintertime,so he lost the feeling of how fast the race was going at,and may be it was therefore that he himselfes got schocked when seing the pace fore the first 400m.

  • @Charles-gm2ig

    He can only run one way. Unfortunately for him, Josh Kerr and now Cole Hopkins have caught up. All three are now capable of 3:26 to 3:27. The difference is that at the moment, Joss and Cole have a kick. The advantage for Jakob is that he's only 23 (as is Cole), so the best is ahead of him (and Cole). Joss is 26.

    Jakob HAS to assur a fast pace because he doesn't have a kick, he has to to take it out of the Hockers and Kerrs before 1300. Jakob needs to move up, drop the 1500 and take up the 10 keep winning the 5.

      @@frankjohansen9364 Jakob doesn't have the speed and certainly doesn't train for speed. He of all people should know, he only wins the Olympics because Cheruiyot paced HIM. Jakob isn't so good that he can run away from the rest of the world. He can run sub 3:30 all season long but in a single race, he can't out run the rest of the world, the Olympics just reinforced what we saw at the last two Worlds. He needs to focus on the 5-10k. He has no problem winning the 5k.

    But if he doesn’t lead the race he then doesn’t have a kick to finish them off down the stretch… if he got out - kicked by Kerr and Hocker in a 3:27 race then he’d get out-kicked even worse in a slower race…

    Jakob has said he’s an *aerobic runner and the 1500m is his worst event compared to longer distances. He doesn’t have the closing speed to win a tactical race vs these guys. How he won gold in 2020 was that Cheruiyot helped him keep the race honest by leading over half the race.

      What you are saying here doesn't make sense. If Jakob is an anaerobic runner then his closing speed should not be the problem, his ability to run longer at a fast pace would be, Jakob is more aerobic than anaerobic and his closing speed is the problem he has to work on his Alactic energy system which I doubt he hasn't even touched in a while, although Jakob posses excellent speed endurance which relates to his anaerobic capacity abilities, he falters to produce power in a short amount of time like Cole Hocker, El G and Lagat.

      @@JakeCoulterr A journalist asked Olav Aleksander Bu (researcher and trainer for the triathlete Kristian Blummenfelt) about the effort Ingebrigtsen used by being infront entire race
      He calculated the average speed of the race (3:28.24.)
      average speed is then 25.92 km/hour. that is 7.2 meters per second.
      air resistance amounts to 15.4 Newtons, or 1.6 kilograms of force. In that case, speed variation or position is not taken into account.
      to make it easier for the common man to understand how much air resistance is at that speed, Bu uses the watt term, which is commonly used in bicycles.
      The air resistance of 26 km/h thus amounts to more than 110 watts, explains Bu.
      The calculations by Bu and the triathlon gang also gave an answer to how much it pays to lie behind a pacer.
      - You reduce air resistance by 70-80 percent by lying behind a pacer for 1,500 metres. Or in this case the air resistance will have been reduced from about 110 to just over 40 Watts. That is significant, says the researcher.
      Bu has also calculated how much faster Ingebrigtsen could have run if he had done the same race, and used the same amount of power - with a pacer infront of him.
      It is a bit difficult to assess as we do not have an exact model of Jakob, but it is about two seconds in the 1500 metres.
      - In other words, would Jakob Ingebrigtsen have been very close to the world record of 3:26.00?
      - Yes, you can say that.
      So i would not say overrated, just chosed the wrong tactic
