- Hello everyone and welcome back! Today's video features the first runs of Southern 4501 in 2023, at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. I got the chance to ride in the cab of the 112 year old steam locomotive, and it was a great experience! If you enjoy this video as much as I did making it, leave a like down below!

The legend is back (again) in 2023!
Great video. I rode in the 4501 cab engine today, and it was a ride of a lifetime! When they opened the firebox on five occasions, you could see and feel the dragon breathing, a raging inferno in there, and some big respect for this greatly preserved locomotive.
TVRM is on my bucket list
A very nice video highlighting the opening of steam season. The only thing to note, at 6:34; the bridge constructed across Tunnel Boulevard gave access to Jersey from Whiteside Tunnel, rather than the other way around. During the 1960s and 1970s trains ran from “Emma Street”, today East Chattanooga, out towards Tunnel Boulevard, and then simply shoved back. The bridge was completed in 1977, track reached Jersey in 1978, and work began to construct Grand Junction there in 1981/2 after the completion of the East Chattanooga station, turntable installation, and at that time shop facility. With that completed by 1982, work turned to Grand Junction, a loose replica of the Tuscumbia Station. Eventually this shifted to the “front of house” operations entity, with East Chattanooga becoming a mainly closed perimeter operation generally only accessible on the tour to passengers. I hope that helps clear a few things up.
I sure hope to visit Tvrm myself one day, not sure when I will but when I do it be great to see 630 in action as she only has 3 more years of flue time before she's due for a rebuild.
A Certified Southern Railway moment
Great coverage and smooth transitions. A joy to watch and listen to!
I've ridden the TVRM a number of times, even getting a cab ride once in #610 (seen briefly in your video). On my last trip I rode (finally!) behind #4501 and got to watch it turned on the turntable. Their dinner train and autumn-leaf excursions are also very worthwhile, and they are occasionally visited by Thomas the Tank Engine!
Excellent coverage! (Jenny)
Great video! I can’t help myself by saying that I really like your voice for narration. The next Pentrex maybe? 🙂

3:04 sorry to inform you, that is not travis, that is Mr. Langley (Louie) and he isn’t the conductor. He is training the other guy in the cab , Joseph or vice versa lol
lol my mistake.
Nice video! Did you by chance ask the crew if you could blow the whistle when you were in the cab?🔥
I did. They said no unfortunately.

Would 4501 be steamed in a green boiler.
She has before but the museum wants to be accurate, she would have been black in working life so they keep her black
