On your second time using it the timer will not reset automatically and the turner will not operate if it is reading 0 days. Push and hold both menu and - for 5 seconds. It will reset the timer back to 21 days.

Fill until the well appears to be about 2/3 full. Just keep an eye on it so it never dries up completely.
