@@miguel7888 And the thing is, even if egg ran out of time it would still be a draw because the opponent doesn't have enough pieces on the board to mate as you can't do it with only a king
Most definitely. I'm enjoying this series immensely no matter how he plays so imo he should just play whatever kind of chess he wants to without worrying about what we think. Can't please all of the people all of the time and this series seems very popular anyway
Computer: "You want to trade a queen for a queen and a knight?! Inaccuracy!" I feel like the engine sometimes suggest stuff that only makes sense if you can see 20 moves ahead, and makes no freaking sense on the face of it.
If you want the best analysis of your games you should use a bot that you can alter how many moves in the future it's scanning for. A low level player like me barely can see 5 moves ahead, so a computer looking 20+ moves ahead is too much to really help me
Just wanted to say that if you get weird with it and that's what you enjoy I'm all for it, At the end of the day I think you having fun will be the most fun to watch
Something I'd like to point out, at 23:47 after your opponents knight move in the analysis, the reason why rook to f4 is recommended by the engine is because it effectively forks the black knight and mate in one. If your opponent rescued their knight by taking your c pawn for example, rook to h4 is checkmate because of your knight and your opponents rook blocking their king's escape. It's a pretty cool tactic.
YOOOOOO ok so I'm usually here for the isaac vids and I occasionally watch the chess vids BUT THIS had such a strong start. I really gotta watch more of your chess stuff, it has a much different feel than your isaac stuff and I like it. the pogs don't stop
So I think you might want to know this for endgames with real low time - you can premove multiple moves, so in some situations you can premove a check mate even if you only have like 1 second so that the opponent can't run out the clock.
So, I don't know if it's my favorite series of yours, but it is definitely one I've been watching pretty consistently. It's just kinda nice. Ya'know? And not even in a sleep aide kinda way.
The fact that in the first match there was only 1 point where NL was down by a significant margin is actually incredible considering how tense it was! The gambits really do add a nice spice to the video, can't wait to see what NL pulls off in the future.
From the past week we thought the egg was scrambled... But it appears that he was only being whisked into perfection, a perfection that is slowly, yet surely being attained...
That first game was super fun to watch. The second one is best summed up by "Why am I a 1300 in 5 minute and a 1550 in 10? the world may never know" while hanging the knight for no reason lmao
Pretty sure the fork with the knight at 10:40 loses the game, he can take your pawn on G2 with check, if you take with the rook, you get mated by the queen, if you move your king he takes your rook with discovered check and then just mates you anyway
I understand not wanting to analyze games you made obvious blunders in, but I feel like often you also avoid analyzing games where you didn't even recognize where you missed wins or strong advantages. Either way, been loving the chess series NL!
4:32 What do you mean your white bishop sucks? It is like 2 moves away from being a beast. Get that queen on the dark square and bishop to a2 or b3 and it is a headache for that king all day
the five seconds left on the clock win was pogicity. would have been awesome even if you drew or lost though, you're right - it's not all about winning!
Between 8:15-10:30 min, wouldn't NL moving his knight have resulted in mate in 2-4? Ii know it's not what he did, but I'm trying to get better at spotting checkmates.
In the first game he was considering blundering knight move for uncomfortably long time :D (27 Ne6 gives opponent triple attack in g2 with check so NL didn't really have a fork in this line)
Duality of NL Chess:
- Watching that first game: "Wow these are some good moves"
- Seeing the analysis: "Only 4 blunders? Pog"
The conclusion of the first game had me jumping out of my chair in excitement
The dude not taking his queen to try and win on time but losing in the end was chef's kiss.

As someone else who recently started their chess journey, I've absolutely loved seeing these videos from you
At the 10-minute mark, I'm pretty sure moving your knight would have hung mate with rook captures g2, ignoring your knight
