      Yes, you need also to change the chip/pcb board otherwise the charger will give a fault and not charge the battery. good luck

      @@TheEhssan0 It's hard to find one exactly like the original because Makita doesn't sell PCB boards, only complete batteries. You can look for one that most resambles the original. good luck

    Hi, aint soldering these cell VERY dangerous? They can explode of the heat?

    • @TIRestoration
      @TIRestoration  3 роки тому

      The cells can withstand some heat of the soldering iron, the heat is not that high to cause an explosion, only if there is a short circuit.

    • @yayanarchy8394
      @yayanarchy8394 2 роки тому +1

      It's really overstated. For a half-decent reason I guess. The problem is that if someone attempts it and doesn't use proper flux, doesn't use a nice wise chisel tip to heat it quickly, solder, and move as to not heat the cell itself, then you could have some serious problems. You also want to keep off the center part of the bottom of the cell, since that's where the machine sealed the negative contact to the outside of the cell, and is a weak point.

    Do you know the specs of these cells? I'm trying to replace mine Thanks

    • @TIRestoration
      @TIRestoration  2 роки тому +2

      These are 18650 cells, it depends on which battery you have, the 4Ah or the 5Ah battery has cells with a higher capacity than a 3Ah battery, the minimum cell capacity of a 5Ah battery is around 2500mAh, the voltage is the same around 3,7V for each cell. good luck

      @@TIRestoration Thank you I have the 3mah older makita battery like in the picture. So I'm guess this means each cell is probably 2000mah at 20amp rating?
