Most of the time insomniac's spidersense always pops up but in most scenes they're far more subtle. They do it similar to tom's spidersense

I grew up watching the Ultimate Spider-man series and even that gave me a good idea of how spider-sense works. Just because it alerts Peter to danger, it doesn't mean he knows what the danger is and he can actively ignore it because he's human and makes mistakes.

People treating spidermans spider sense like ultra instinct is the problem. Its a power dependent on if peter is fully there or not
With the Scorpion and Lizard examples, to me, it’s the difference between someone having a gun around Peter and someone pointing a gun at Peter. The spider sense doesn’t go off until an attack is either about to start or is starting and hasn’t reached him yet.
Another factor is the level of danger. In most media, the spider sense isn’t going off like a fire alarm for every little thing, a smaller threat warrants a smaller tingle and a bigger threat warrants a bigger tingle. Otherwise the spider sense would function like that Robot Chicken skit where it earned him of spoiled milk and puddles and the general danger of swinging from buildings. It also comes down to his perception. Martin Li was running the Demons and the spider sense never went off around him until the City Hall bombing, because he was Martin as a friend until that point (another reason I wish they didn’t change the helicopter scene in the final game for Peter to see Martin with his own eyes and his senses logging him as a new threat).
And with the Church scene, there’s also an emphasis of the vibrations giving Peter a headache and even messing with his vision. That’s also why he wasn’t reacting to Kraven in time. The combination of Kraven’s speed and strength that’s made him the ultimate hunter, and the subtle vibrations throwing Peter’s focus off left him open to attacks.
And it’s funny how he kept using some examples like Sandman’s attack on the air that Peter can see with his own eyes as examples of the spider sense “not warning him”. He knows the attack is coming, he can even see it coming in front of him, but he either makes the mistake of thinking he can make it or not having any room or momentum to dodge the massive hand that’s crashing down on him.
The first part is not true, many times the sense has gone off due to someone simply being there.
@@AvidCS I’m primarily going off of what the games show (and occasionally using other media as reference), so the fact that we see the spider sense not react to Lizard and Scorpion and even the Hunter dog in the first hunter base mission with Peter, it is true that it doesn’t go off just by them being there. It’s not like the radar sense where he’s constantly aware of everything around him. A knife in the kitchen isn’t an immediate danger to him, someone holding a knife isn’t a danger to him, it’s when the knife is being held with the active intention of bringing immediate harm to him that the spider sense warns him. But if he’s in a burning building, then the spider sense would be going off constantly because the whole building is a danger.
And if you wanna take gameplay into account, the spider sense doesn’t go off just from thugs or bosses being around him, it only goes off when an attack is coming towards him (I know gameplay isn’t canon, but the mechanic of how it’s utilized can still be an example of how it works in-universe)
@@moviehermit5631 But then you have the presence of the lizard who obviously had the intent of attacking peter but the spider sense didnt trigger. I mean if he actually saw connor sneaking up on him he would definitely react to what he's seeing. That's the only part that i find inconsistent in the game so utdoesnt really matter to me, just doesnt make sense.

Since we’re using the comics as a baseline of how the spider sense is supposed to work, let it be known that if Peter‘s opponent is faster than him, they could speed blitz the spider sense case in point Speed Demon
guess they just forgot to show his spider sense going off and since Kraven is faster he still gets hit but it does go off showing how the ability is working but kraven can still blitz him since he is faster
Spidersense I always thought it was interesting how I think it works.
The more focused he is in a fight he reacts on his own.
but if he's not entirely focused , wether it be behind him or the bomb example. he senses a unexpected thing, but its still up to him to find and react to what the danger is.

there can probably be a happy balance between the two probably. but thats how I interpreted it to work.
The church point really urks me here, not only has Kraven consistently shown to be fast enough to tag and catch Peter off guard along with scale to the likes of Scorpion someone who consistently tags both Spider-Men even when spider sense warns them but Kraven in the church is also constantly using his cloaking technology to hide in the shadows to go in for another strike.
What is Peter supposed to react to exactly? He can't see where Kraven is coming from until he uncloaks and by the times he does Peter has almost no time to react.
The Sandman point is dumb too since Peter is the one going in for the attack which Sandman then had to respond with his hand thats like the size of a house...
Peter has no chance to dodge such a fast large object like that in not just mid air but mid attack.
These "inconsistencies" in Spider-Man 2 happen in the first game...
Silver Sable literally tagged Peter before, Mr Negative tags Peter and in the scene of killing the lizard suit doctor at the party Peter ends up pinned under machinery. Hammerhead tags Peter, even when Peter is pummeling him.
There isn't really much inconsistency in the Insomniac spider sense as its been shown sooo many times Peter can still be hit if he doesn't react in time

The issue seems to be the whole 'no squiggly line indicator=no spider sense' idea. After all, it is the main way spider sense is visualized in most mediums and otherwise you'd have to assume it's always activated (which gets tricky since there are villains who can negate or cancel it).
Plus certain people are immune to being detected by spider sense Venom, certain Skrull agents, for example
Spider-Man strength and speed in the comics is more inconsistent then his spider sense lol
Granted that there are some versions of spider-sense that causes peter to move on instinct, I think that happens in his first appearance where he almost gets hit by a car and a couple of times after that, but that still doesn't make it ultra instinct, he's no going to perfectly counter and dodge everything.
Yeah I think there are lesser/greater extents to the whole “instinctual” dodging thing
The best example I could think of was when he was effortlessly dodging a samurai of something whilst quipping the whole time “nope…” “missed” “not even close” that sorta thing 😂
I think of it like this
It goes off like 1 or 2 seconds before he gets attacked but he himself has to dodge and get outta the way, so kraven blitzin him makes sense
His spidersense went off but pete wasnt fast enough to dodge
I love Spider Sense but even I've known that it's an early warning system but it's far from perfect.
All spider sense does in this continuity, is giving Peter a warning that something will hurt him. It doesn't make him move on instict, it doesn't make him aware of future harm. It's just a heads up in the immeadiate moment it happens. Nothing more.

What i meant, was that the sense doesn't give him notice of events Happening a considerable amount of time in the future, like a Minute or so. Rather it gives him a warning for the immediate danger in the Situation, like if someone was in the middle of throwing a punch at him. However, it isn't really good, and doesn't mean he can't be hurt

I think it’s clear every attack that lands on Peter Peter did sense
The issue was is like anyone he can’t always come up with the best way to avoid the attack or can’t because he is already mid air
Like Peter even at base form even if his spider sense goes off will tank attacks that are very powerful and he can shrug them off
I mean his feat against sandman arguably the strongest character in the verse who be stronger then lizard venom kraven rhino so on
The fact Peter tanks punches from sandman at base alone without any injury such as broken bones means Peter has the durability at base to tank most attacks via impact

So him getting hit shouldn’t be a problem even if he could avoid it
For example against venom and krvaen
Both villains who could have killed peter in his first encounter with both of them
Peter in both situations had no idea how powerful either was truly in that moment
With kraven even thou he senses the knife I think it’s clear Peter didn’t expect kraven to be as strong as he was
Otherwise he wouldn’t have put himself in that position in the first place or hold back as much
Since even if Peter thought kraven was just as powerful as Scorpio Peter obviously wouldn’t be trying his absolute hardest to prevent someone from stabbing him when he doesn’t think he has to go all out to stop him
As for venom insomniac actually wanted base Peter to fight venom in oscorp and down to the city simialr to the be greater trailer
The outcome would have been peter puts up a fight where venom gets angry but Peter makes his escape because he realize can’t beat venom without prep which is how the original sonic grerbades would come into play
Then it would have been venom gameplay in time square
Which would have been to short a gameplay section for venom
So they cut it because they wanted to get venom gameplay more gameplay time
So they just had venom knock out peter when he could have bit his head off
But it’s just one of those instances where Peter was put into circumstances where he outright couldn’t have beat any of the villains at that time in any situation
He either needed mikes help or the symbote
And even then peter isn’t incapable of say maybe keeping up with venom even at base
But it be a hell of a lot harder
I also thought his Spider Sense sucked after playing it. Idk. Peter seemed so weak the whole Game

There were a couple of moments where it seemed off I will agree there. But overall it was fine
I think my issue is spider sense and why I think it can be inconsistent is because of visuals, half the time we don’t even see his spider sense go off, like the scorpion example for spiderman 1 we just kind of assumed his spider sense go off despite no clear visualisation

3:00 just a quick thing. No it's not. Daredevil's senses aren't superior to spider sense.
And yes sadly spider senses are completely ignored in most spiderman media or poorly written at times. But at least in comics. Spider sense is essentially a Supernatural sixth sense that gives peter precog. Danger sense, and a super low weird neigh omniscience due to web of life and destiny bullshit. But in a nutshell it basically works like arkahm batman's detective vision. Spider sense basically guides him to certain things and away from danger as well as it's supposed to show peter the general direction look and heads up on an attack and show him the general way to dodge it. As well as help him react instinctively like Goku's ultra instincts.
That's what it's supposed to be at it's peak. But yet again writers don't like giving him all that or sticking to it and forget all the things it does fairly often.

Find specific items or people and straight up feel people's intentions and plans just by being near them. Luke the time he sensed a suicide bomber literally miles away and like and hour ahead of his destination.

Daredevil himself claims he can't feel or sense Spider-Man at all in the comics and is terrified of him at times. When in combat.
Spider sense in the other hand allows Peter to sense and see much more as well as react to much faster and sudden attacks including things ahead of time
While I agree that spider sense works well in insomniacs verse. I have trouble understanding how Pete got stabbed just before receiving the symbiote, like he didn’t react at all. Anyone wanna help clear this up would be appreciated.

@@minimeteor41He didn’t have time to react to Kraven, Kraven read Spider-Man like a book. Peter also underestimated Kraven, he wasn’t aware of how strong or dangerous Kraven was. For Kraven it was the other way around, he knew Spider-Man and his powers well. That’s my take.

@TheGamingRift11 I mean, even the game shows that he's peak human. (Plus, Scorpion has the same origins as the comics (Jonah turning him into that so that he can take down spider-man) so it stands to reason that the same do follow some of the comic stuff. Obviously, not all of the time, but still.)

The greater the danger or threat , the more effective the spider sense sensation is, that’s why Peter was able to sense the knife but couldn’t dodge Kraven’s punches because his punches are not as deadly as the knife

For example in this video you assume spider-sense is always working even when it is not shown in the cutscenes just so you can push your narrative of peter not being nerfed and his spider-sense not being useless in the sequel when as clear as day he is being hit by things he shouldn’t have. It’s not like peter did not get hit in the first game but it was far less and most of the time it made sense why he got hit. Here he just gets hit by everything with no spider-sense shown at all.
Or I can talk about the narrative that peter is sore and tired so that’s why he gets stuck under the fridge which is just dump we don’t know how sore or fatigued peter is but even then fridges usually weigh at most 300 pounds and low balling Pete here he can lift 10 tons or 20,000 pounds although he has lifted far more then that in both of these games but just because he is sore does not make him 100 of times weaker . For example normally I can curl 135 pounds but now because I am sore I can only curl 10 pounds now do you see how dump your logic is .This is without me mentioning that the attack that sent Peter flying into the fridge was taken mostly by mj a normal human for the attack to send peter flying mj should have been turned to paste after that hit but she was not so that means that the attack was weak enough to not kill mj or even damage her so how the hell did that attack send peter flying if It is weak enough to not kill a normal person it should have done nothing to spider-man it should been like hitting a brick wall.
Also Peter was way more fatigued in the fist game compared to the second having actually broken bones and then getting even more bones broken from doc ock after peter just got done fighting a bloodlusted mister negative who is stronger here then in the sequel the one that almost beat miles With his new venom powers. Pete after that encounter could barely walk stumbling around at feast he never does anything like that in the sequel so he is clearly less fatigued in the sequel so your narrative does not work.
I would be curious to see how you would try to make sense of that fact peter could not dodge lighting both times in the sand fight when in his first game he could dodge lightning with ease.

The final comment is actually pretty simple. Every time in the PS4 game Peter dodges electros lightning, he only has to focus on those individual blasts.
Compared to Sandman where the fight took place in a large sandstorm esc storm with not only a skyscraper sized Marko, but also a large amount of random lightning blasts, in addition to the sand clones, in addition to Peter worrying about Miles etc etc
Not to mention that this is fiction we are talking about and Electros lightning could very well be slower than Markos Electricity given the standard within fiction as a whole. - you can have 4 different characters using Lightning yet their abilities could be completely different.
