WOW!!! I used to walk from my piano teacher's house on the corner of Whiteman Street and Lemoine (the old Fletcher Creamer Construction yard) to my dad's store on the corner of Main & Hudson Streets every Saturday from the age of 7 or so until I graduated from high school in 1967...so much has changed in the 60 or so years since then...I don't recognize much of this 'new' Fort Lee...naturally...
Grew up 15 mins away and always thought this area looked like Queens NYC. It looks the same way it did 50+ years ago for the most part - old 2-fam homes replaced With newer versions of the same, some new towers and store exterior decor.
The former home of Palisades Amusement Park! There was even a hit golden oldie written about it! Written by Chuck Barris and recorded by Freddy Cannon. June 1962.
Grew up in the area. I saw the building where my mother worked in back in the 60s. I haven't been up that way for about 40 years.
