This is my all time favorite Tim Minchin song. It is so special and I relate to so much of it on so many levels. It’s not perfect but it’s fine.
I remember when it was first played on Spicks and Specks. I needed a few tissues.
It's definitely one of his best.
Ahh. I watched the original DVD when it was released after buying new 5.1 speakers. What a beautiful ride. Deep tickling of my funny bone... loud, sudden outbursts of laughter. Then this one, just transfixed and slowly crying alone. I slept like a baby that night 😄❤
It is one of my favourite too. It inspired a poem about my failed assistance dog. He's not perfect, but he's mine.

This song has helped me over and over and over again through the hardest times in my life. I’m a suicide attempt survivor and this song is so meaningful and has helped keep a positive outlook whenever my depression returns. I’m not perfect, and that’s ok. It’s fine. I love this message. I hope I can thank Tim in person one day.

It took me time to have the level requiered in english to understand these song! Almost 50 years old and I just became fan :)
When it got to the part of the song where he said his body was 31.6 years old I immediately looked how old he is now to find out this song is now 17 years old, bloody hell!
The line about my body, always makes me burst in to tears. But they're nice tears, healing tears. Thanks Tim, for making me laugh, and think, for the best part of the last 2 decades.

These words brought me comfort upon my exit, at age 31, from the high-demand religion I was born into. Losing belief in everything I thought I ever knew was scary and disorienting and this song helped me to realize that the earth was still rotating, that the sun would continue to come up, and that actually everything was not going to fall apart.

I still remember the first time I heard this song. Some of my family were watching it on TV. I just stood there fixated though the whole thing and my eyes filled with tears. I wasn't expecting it at all. It's incredibly beautiful ❤️
Back in 2011 I used this song as one of my reference texts for HSC English. Can’t remember what exactly I had to say about it at the time, but I remember even at 18 I knew it was a beautiful song that had special things to say. Now at 30 years and 4 months old it still hits hard every time.

This song never fails to get me. To me, it encapsulates so perfectly how life is so contradictory. At the same time wonderful and terrible. Loving and hateful sad and happy, in constant conflict in an imperfect system yet perfection and peace is what we all seek as we see it. All thanks to our wonderful f'd up 🧠
I only discovered Tim about two months ago, the highlight of my year. I don't know if that means have a dull life or he's that good an entertainer.
Hard to explain. He's His style is fairly unique but it's hard not to love Tim himself the moment you see him. All of his comedy is relatable no matter who you are.

When I’m being particularly hard on myself I listen to it a few times. Sing along loudly.

A beautiful and wonderful man, obviously only as far as one could perceive him from his songs and appearances. I've never seen this version of the song until today, but comparing it to your shattering performance on The Side Show, uploaded in 2010, it feels much colder and brings this immensely harsher feeling to the song. Your face feels like its battling tears while you sang, and echoes a far more desperately sad expression of song that feels as though it is required to be expressed to feel understood in that moment. Your other performance hearkens these tones but I believe your other performance is my favourite as i feel more a message of processing this immense bittersweet sadness, hope and eventually true understanding radiating the song, rather than this darker tone of it, but i value both. Your cliche line in that version has struck me harder than many things, accompanied by the disarming first part of the last verse, and later the swelling final chorus has, and will always continue to stick in my mind. This and the whole of the Australian 'Ready For This?' DVD version of White Wine In The Sun.
