If Nutella doesn't remove palm oil, I still won't eat it, unfortunately. And they should specify the origin of their sugar. That's why a vegan label is important!

right!! nutella should have changed the original recipe to vegan recipe, and not just launch a vegan version because I am afraid if the vegan Nutella would not do good (a lot of vegans won't buy it because of palm oil and inorganic sugar) then they will discontinue the product but if the original would be vegan (no palm oil and organic sugar) then there is no risk of loosing customers or discontinuing the product, infact even more customers would buy the product.

Regarding Nutella: Non organic sugar isn't vegan and avoiding palm oil is important because it causes huge amounts of deforestation. Among others superior alternatives, we love Nocciolata brand, made in Italy, which is vegan, organic and palm oil free.

I noticed that the Amy's entree I like to get went up to $8.99 over the last 2 years (for just a little frozen entree), even at Grocery Outlet (a discount grocery store if you don't know). I wasn't buying Amy's anyway, but seeing that price sure made it easy to avoid. But the other day, I saw the price was back down to $4.99 like it used to be. Already a little expensive at that price, but it's nice to have the option to buy it once in a while.

For having lived in Canada, US, and now in France, American get so much more vegan products than in Europe. Maybe UK is the only exception. I strongly disagree, there are delicious, better vegan nut spreads than Nutella and I’ll buy the vegan Nutella when they make their entire products vegan. Im not rewarding big brands for doing the bare minimum decades later, it’s drastic change we need.

Panda express is not vegan as they cook the beyond chicken in the same oil they cook their meats. They even let you know, its vegetarian, but they missed the ball when they can't separate cooking methods because most vegans don't want to have the oils from the meats cooking with their food.

    • @TotallyForkable
      @TotallyForkable  5 місяців тому +1

I agree and that is a shortcoming of a lot of the vegan options at American fast food chains (same with the Imposs Whopper). It makes you wonder who it is actually for, then. I think a lot of vegans are able to turn a blind eye when it comes to shared cooking spaces since it's not technically contributing to the demand for animal foods. I, myself, would probably be grossed out and wondering the entire time if I'm tasting a meat flavor.

11:30 I tried it - the inside was bland and the sauce a little haphazardly splotchy. I'm not a fan - it doesn't quite hit the spot. I just don't see how it's hard to just get some panda express orange sauce that they sell in the store and some beyond orange popcorn chicken and shake it up. That's literally what they do there!!! I personally like dr praeger's bbq chicken nuggets better - and if I'm going to eat a chicken nugget alternative - it's that lol. Now that is worthwhile in trying is eat meati's breaded chicken (feel free to dip into the orange sauce that goes where no panda express goes - i.e. - inside the actual chicken part itself, not just over the breading)! It's sold around new england - I know - because I looked at the map the other day. Please - I beg of you to try the eat meati chicken - it's sold out all the time where I live. Ok - try their classic steak too and the regular cutlets!! And don't tell me you haven't tried it - it's really great. Add some aerofarms microgreens - and you'll be grand! It's special. A little primal brand steak sauce and cracked black pepper go with the steak too - if you add it to eat bite.

Beyond Orange Chicken is very tasty but only right off the wok. Unfortunately, it doesn't do well sitting in the warming trays. The meat gets really chewy, to the point of being unappealing.
So it's a gamble, one I'm less willing to make nowadays when eating out is so expensive!
There is one Panda Express I know of, at Westfield mall in century city, that has a vegetarian dish besides noodles and steamed vegetables. It's tasty eggplant! But Panda is like the least interesting dining option there, skip it and go to Eatily.

The twin test is incorrectly described. The guy didn’t become vegan for the animals. He ate plant based for a little while…as a test. That’s not vegan.

Yes, as I mentioned, they used the word incorrectly. Still, a plant-based diet and a vegan diet are the same thing so for all intents and purposes he ate a vegan diet.

It's not quite the same as Nutella, but the Peanut Butter and Co. Dark Chocolate Dreams is really good. I spread it on bananas and add them to a vegan sundae 😃

I have to assume Amy's Kitchen received internal complaints from employees before they went public. And then it still took 2 years to fix the *health and safety* concerns?

thanks - I see now my orange chicken made the news here. Much appreciated - it's orange chicken that almost made me stray and definitely made others stray back to meat (even though it was probably the orange part that's craved) - so now we got alternatives! Ones without soy like gardein - but I still like gardein (I just can't eat soy).

0:28 honestly - I'm pretty surprised that you're overheated. Most of the time people complain about 'meat sweats' - because you'd assume the vegan foods are going to be way cooling with the alkalinity and high water content. What happened to that watermelon you were talking about? You didn't consume it with mint or something? You got this!! The vegans know a glass of water's more cooling than a glass of milk lol. Better hit the lemonade at the raw vegan bbq - nobbing on the fruit salad and pineapple skewers and whatnot - and it'll all be swell! (is this a pun?)

I think Ayn Rand would've sided with Amy's.
Vegan Nutella will still have palm oil so it's not really vegan when one thinks about it.

I don't get the Ayn Rand reference (sorry!). And yes; many vegans do not consider palm oil vegan.

pls people start rejecting packaged foods, we are filling our world with rubbish. any packaging which is for single use is sooooo unsustainable. I'm not vegan, you could say I'm climatarian, eat local, ecological food, incl small amounts of meat occasionally. My main worry is looking after our planet. Pls vegans, you are clever people, pls stop using packaged foods

I think all of these things are steps in the right direction and a good sign that the world is changing. There's not often stories about whole plant foods bc they're not as easily commodified. I try to make these roundups a mix of stories from new products to policies to activism.
