I agree with literally everything you said here. A couple years back I started getting into the clay world with claymation based on the many UA-camrs promoting it. It is a solid product, but I decided to try other products out there. Baxter of Cali clay pomade was my primary product for a long time, so I totally support that endorsement. Also, quicksand was not for me. It left me with a shiny and dry appearance. I have not tried Orien’t, so thanks for the recommendation. Great video!
I didn't really do the descriptions of Lockhart's Anti-Gravity and their Modern Man TV collab Nevermore (or the differences between them) justice, so if you're curious about them, check out Mike's videos on both here: Nevermore | ua-cam.com/video/dqiyx5ITP2c/v-deo.html Anti-Gravity | ua-cam.com/video/j0gfc-EKZTs/v-deo.html
Hey matt, What about some alternatives to Scheme Cream ? Anything similar tô a leave in conditioner to control frizz, detangling and light/medium hold ? Thanks a lot !
I haven't used many hair creams, but a couple that come to mind would be the Baxter of CA styling cream (and/or their light cream pomade), or TheSalonGuy's Support Cream, Aveda Grooming Cream, etc. Hope this helps!
i was thinking why nobody on youtube, since so many new products came out over the last year, did a video like this. And now you did exactly what i was looking for haha. Great video !
First of all I am glad that you got this video out for viewers like myself. Secondly I actually thought that most of Hanz De Fuko products were pretty much sub par in my opinion especially their hybridized wax, sponge wax, quicksand, modify pomade, and Gravity paste. I found other products that work a lot better than Hanz de fuko. Also I feel like a lot of UA-camrs overhype these products to see that they are the best product in universe when in reality they are not. Cavalier Clay by Blumaan still works better in terms of hold and texture. Great video.
Really liked this video. Although I haven't used HdF products, I watched the entire video. Congrats my man. You and Robin are my favorite youtubers. Keep up the Good work, and hope your channel keep growing.
I've got thick hair and I love this messy beach look. I heard that Quicksand isn't really the best option for thick hair. So have you some ideas/products to recommend guys?
What product would you recommend for thick straight hair, medium length. I have a soft undercut. But I want a Natural-Medium shine, product with a hold that’s holds it good but I want it to be soft and free flowing as well
Hmm Fuertes clay is most of those, but closer to a natural matte look rather than medium shine. Something like Stickmore’s Hybrid pomade might be a good option for you. That’s about what you described with more of a medium shine.
Please help. I use hdf quicksand (little amount like you said) . I like its dryness, I like its hold, I like that it's very easy to apply and it doesn't pull out my hair BUT I don't like that it makes my hair look greasy and agglutinated. My hair is straight, medium length. Can you please recommend me a few options to quicksand, with natural and matte look, for I didn't find orien't for sale in my country...
Kevin Murphy Rough Rider might be a good bet for you! Definitely go in with small amounts with it, but for me it was basically a better version of quicksand.
Awesome review. I'm curious to see the difference between clutch and Kevin murphy night rider and rough rider. I have them both, but maybe you'll say clutch has a better hold or easier to apply. Bumble and bumble sumo clay is something new too.. It's supposed to be good too.
Yeah the Kevin Murphy stuff is still on my to-do list. Haven't wanted to fork over the money for them yet 😂I'll have to look into that Bumble and Bumble clay, too. Based on looks and other reviews alone, to me Night/Rough Rider clays look very heavy/thick like traditional clays, while Clutch is a much lighter feeling, creamy one. Hopefully that helps a bit for now ☺️
TDM Style I have a drawer and a half of nothing but clays and I've tried all the big ones you can name but rough rider is easily my go to favorite product. For me it outperforms everything
TDM Style Rough Rider DEFINITELY is a heavy clay which works for people with thick hair.. Night rider is actually more like a paste, and actually has better hold than rough rider, to me it also feels much more matte than rough rider, and is much lighter too, so it can hold the style without weighing hair down. My hair is medium thick, so rough rider is a but too heavy for me. I tried sumo clay at the salon, it really goes in super easily, super matte and the hold is pretty good actually. But I'll have to try clutch once I'm out of night rider, just because it seems to be really awesome! I like the salon guy, he's just straight forward, and takes time to develop his products and clutch seems to be one of his overall best styling clay / paste.
My favorite right now is Clutch by TheSalonGuy. Others I really like: Baxter of CA, Lockhart's, Arcadian. I've heard Kevin Murphy is great too but have not tried it yet.
Well, they're still on my to-do list in general (haven't used any yet), so definitely some reviews of them will be coming. It'll be a while before they get their turn on Product Revisit though 😉
While I like hanz de fuko products I’m not sure how to feel about claymation. I don’t think it gives as much as a soft feel as opposed to the Baxter clay. For me it’s better than clutch but not as good as the Baxter especially in terms of how it feels in my hair
I never really used any of those, so I don’t have much input. But yeah I’m with you on the gel 😂 I tried a tiny sample of hybridized wax once - to me it felt more like a gel-type pomade than a wax.
TDM Style I hear ya. I remember UA-camrs absolutely raving about the shampoo/conditioner like it was the best thing to ever hit the market 😒 I never tried it myself but I always had the feeling it was way overhyped. Never tried the hybridized wax either so I'm curious... I only ever used sponge wax (which I thought smelled like my grandmothers perfume) and claymation (good stuff, but there's way better options out there).
Yeahh something tells me their shampoo and conditioner aren’t anything crazy special. I’d say I’d try and review them but... honestly don’t wanna spend my money on them 😂
I didn't include that one cause I've never used it. I had the tiny sample but it just looked like a gel-type pomade or something so it didn't strike my interest haha
Never understood the CLAYMATION hype 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️ beside their ingredients etc. this product has nothing positive on it 🙈🙈🙈 the same for their other, except for the sponge wax, which is very good 👍🏽😍
Kind of hard to describe the texture of one, now that I'm thinking about it haha. To me they generally feel kind of spongy, but usually break down fairly creamy with a small amount of stickiness in the hands. They're lighter and smoother to apply than, say, a clay or wax, and generally have a medium to high hold with a matte or semi-matte finish. Pastes I've found have a lot of variance though, so depending on the brand, you could get something quite different (some are much more liquid-y, etc).
I originally had a section talking about Heavymade, but the video was like 20 mins long so I decided to cut it. But basically, it's fine for a water-based pomade, but nothing spectacular. Has good hold and high shine, takes a while to dry so you have plenty of time to style which is nice. However I feel the big pomade users would gravitate more towards the big home brew market.
Heavymade is okay like I said. However I think for people who are into pomades, there are many better options available on the home brew market. I don't really have many suggestions because I don't use a lot of pomades, but a couple non-homebrews that come to mind are Ice and Slick pomades by TheSalonGuy, Baxter of CA Hard Water Pomade, or maybe even the Star Wax firm hold pomade.
yea man, -does he think Hanz De Fuko is a good product=yes -does he still use it=No -does he think Clutch Clay is a great product=Yes -he is using it now=yes -Will he be using it in about 6 months from now? probably not LOL
I mean I don’t really think HdF are “good” lol. I don’t think they’re bad either, but to be fair I still actually use Clutch all the time when I’m not testing other products so 🤷🏻♂️

Hi what would you recommend for short hair, as i thought creams were usually more of a short hair item.

Thanks! Yep, I feel the same. I never really used their hybridized wax or modify pomade - they just never really seemed like my bag.
Which brands would you suggest that are better ? I’m looking to buy more quality products than local drug store ones. Thanks
@@T10-i5sfirsthand supply is a good one along with Lockhart’s matte clay.
Really liked this video. Although I haven't used HdF products, I watched the entire video. Congrats my man. You and Robin are my favorite youtubers. Keep up the Good work, and hope your channel keep growing.

woohoo welcome backk
I haven't gone anywhere, but thanks haha!
Hey Matt there is this brand calles organix it is not like products they are like treatments so if you could review them that would be cool
According to u sir which clay is best which gives good hold and keep hairs healthy?
Right now my favorite is Clutch clay by TheSalonGuy.
Love your videos! Hanz de Fuko hairspray $30.00 bucks! 😲 What makes it so special? 😮
Hey Matt, I know you did a video on blow drying and volume with salonguy’s prestyler, but could you do a more detailed review of it?
Definitely on my to-do list 👍🏻
Will you make Arcadian review? I have it , but want to know your thoughts))
Yup, coming soon.
The only two I still like from HDF is Claymation and Sponge Wax.
Whats your opinion for best clay for thick wavy hair
My favorite right now is Clutch by TheSalonGuy. Others I really like: Baxter of CA, Lockhart's, Arcadian. I've heard Kevin Murphy is great too but have not tried it yet.
It’s like putting dirt in your hair.
Can you do Kevin Murphy products next?
Well, they're still on my to-do list in general (haven't used any yet), so definitely some reviews of them will be coming. It'll be a while before they get their turn on Product Revisit though 😉
A Rough Rider Review plzzzzzzzzzz
TDM Style a easy rider review
ROUGH RIDER! I am thinking of getting it but it is pretty pricy. And your hair type is very similar to mine so.... Review please! haha
Haha no worries, I’ll def get to both of them eventually 😉
While I like hanz de fuko products I’m not sure how to feel about claymation. I don’t think it gives as much as a soft feel as opposed to the Baxter clay. For me it’s better than clutch but not as good as the Baxter especially in terms of how it feels in my hair
I disagree on the matte finish. I'd say it's a natural shine.
Nothing on hybridized wax or their shampoo/conditioner? I'd ask about their come-and-go gel but... Eh, it's gel.
I never really used any of those, so I don’t have much input. But yeah I’m with you on the gel 😂 I tried a tiny sample of hybridized wax once - to me it felt more like a gel-type pomade than a wax.

you forgot hybridized wax - I only like it because it soothes my scalp when it’s really irritated but other than that it’s average
I didn't include that one cause I've never used it. I had the tiny sample but it just looked like a gel-type pomade or something so it didn't strike my interest haha
The only things I like on Hanz De Fuko products is their shampoo, conditioner and sponge wax thats all.
Good vid bro....I heard there overrated but I haven't had any of there products on my channel yet.
Never understood the CLAYMATION hype 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️ beside their ingredients etc. this product has nothing positive on it 🙈🙈🙈 the same for their other, except for the sponge wax, which is very good 👍🏽😍
Have you tried "Aveda Grooming clay"?
I haven't. I'll add it to my to-do list.
How would you describe a paste?
Thomas Kittock A paste normally has a High hold with a matte or semi matte finish. They are normally thick in consistency and pretty easy to wash out.
Kind of hard to describe the texture of one, now that I'm thinking about it haha. To me they generally feel kind of spongy, but usually break down fairly creamy with a small amount of stickiness in the hands. what about heavymade?

Claymation is still great, it's in my hair right now 👍
Have you tried heavymade?
yea man, -does he think Hanz De Fuko is a good product=yes
-does he still use it=No
-does he think Clutch Clay is a great product=Yes
-he is using it now=yes
-Will he be using it in about 6 months from now? probably not LOL
I mean I don’t really think HdF are “good” lol. I don’t think they’re bad either, but to be fair I still actually use Clutch all the time when I’m not testing other products so 🤷🏻♂️
Peace Brother
Why is Malibu even on your shelf lmao shits like 10-20%
To mix with other shit for cocktails lol
Even if Hanz came out with a product that blew out the competition, I wouldn't give that ahole company my money after what they did to Joe at blumaan
what they did ?
Your Hair looks great man!
Thank you!
@@TDMStyle What is the product in your hair in this video? Looks really great.
