Sega GAME GEAR Raspberry Pi Edition - ZEGA MAME GEAR Video Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 чер 2024
- In this Zega Mame Gear video review, we get the DIY kit and see how easy it is to build. We use the recommended Raspberry Pi Zero 2, testing many systems and if it's actually worth the purchase.
There are multiple shells and lens models that you can mix and match, and supports Raspberry Pi Zero, Raspberry Pi Zero 2, Raspberry Pi 3A+, and the Raspberry Pi CM4.
Our unit used the standard 3.2" display, 4-button layout, and the Pi Zero 2 board.
You can upgrade to a 3.5" display and use the Pi CM4, which boosts speeds to near the Pi4 but will have an impact on battery life.

I'm really temped by this! It might not be the most practical given the options today but it certainly is very cool and would make for a great conversation piece.
Purple board, clear case, you could probably add LEDs as well. It WOULD be quite the conversation piece.
Beautifully reviewed, clear, concise & straight to the main points we all wanna know.
Seeing playstation ,sega 32X,neo geo on a game gear is mind blowing!
Building this and having to buy the parts would be a no for me though, also the expense of the raspberry pie.
Which is ashame as I would love one of these..
keep up the Great reviews please @teampandory and ugh I could do with a back rub.. what was Jon lucs massage handle again? lol
@johnluke69, any time.
@@johnluke69 😂😂
Super neat Item! Your memes are weird! The teabag murdered me!
... memes? :-o
Got one myself, this is indeed more of a collector item than a daily console
I must say that it is a cool idea.
Awesome video ! 👍👍
Tam da hayal ettiğim şey UA-cam'da arayayım dedim varmış Hemen yapmışlar böyle bir ürüne Sahip olmayı çok isterdim Game Gear kasasında her şeyi oynayabilmek Harika olurdu❤
Had i seen lynx games on my game gear....nay scrap that- rent a delorean and travel back in time to my 10 year old self when i got my game gear and showed my self this explaining what year it was from.... my mind was blown.
Especially as i regularly went to the arcade to play Street fighter 2!!
Oh this is beautiful.....🖤
I liked the sega gamegear, while i didint care for handheld gaming this was one of the few that i enjoyed when i was little. Till switch got me back into it. Shame sega doesnt make any consoles anymore. Hell maybe do what nintendo does and make just an entirely handheld line. lol but doubt it. Though i would love more if companies that make handhelds would focus on physical relases and not just digital like the switch that does both and the evercade that does cartridges.
Love the videos.... Stop with the secondary comment drops to be funny.
Can u make a sega astro city mini hack tutorial 😉
Pretty cool but feel they could've put a bigger screen inside it. Needs 6 buttons too!
You can get a slightly larger 3.5 inch screen, but it would add to the already high price point.
@@TeamPandory Nice that they have the option for a larger screen but it's very niche.
Considering the other handhelds you've reviewed I'd give this one a miss. Especially if the D-Pad doesn't have diagonals too. Was cool seeing the Sega Saturn running on it though!
@@johnboydojo yeah it's super niche for anyone that wants something that looks like a real Sega product.
We've said it for a while now, ever since the pg3d and 905x3 products. The pi has been beaten (in 3d psp games) by a cheaper product... That was almost 3 years ago now.
Time to move away from pi.
@@TeamPandory Yeah especially with prices now! It's just got silly!
@@TeamPandory Crazy to think of Panzer Dragoon playing on a handheld! Never thought something like that would be possible when I was a kid! Now here we are and I can play games in VR with friends all across the world!
Seems like only yesterday I was playing Unreal Tournament on my Windows 98 Voodoo 2 "beast!" Hahaha!
Hope you have a nice Christmas dude 👍
I love this but the gba was perfect it was a snes smaller and fit in your pocket
This is an incredibly cool idea but does it have an HMDI port? I remember articles from about a year ago mentioning the mame gear board having an HDMI port but you didn't mention it here, is it safe to assume the HDMI port was dropped on the final version?
The guy who makes the device now offers HDMI out on the boards!
Seems criminal there is no way to add triggers for a 6 button layout.
I need this! But too expensive.
For sure 😉
We need more Handhelds with Circular D-Pads!!! 😭
Hey mate subbed. That voice that did stupid comments. What's his name. Ask when I worked in care he was the video voice that did my questions . And he's done vivid warnings . And some tv license videos
Hi, i have some problèm, vertical tearing and stuttering , show me under voltage on screen sometime ??
We mention the stuttering, it's due to the limited pixels on screen. Get around it by enabling bilinear filtering.
Under voltage is a pi / power issue. Basically if it's not perfect the os will certainly make sure to tell you.
Think two batteries will fix the voltage thing?
@@jonniefast No
😭
Oh why did they not test out fighting games before finalising it..
TBH I think it's designed to be JUST LIKE the GameGear in look, AND feel. The OG GameGear was also crap in the corners. - What would be good is if they could design a dome membrane for the dpad- that'd be so good, especially if it could be switched into a real GG handheld.
@@TeamPandory Never had a Gamegear, had / borrowed the shops Gameboy to play Zelda on. Having a Switch is the nearest I have had to a handheld, but even then I run it via the HDMI. Hopefully a mod comes out for that machine..
still waiting for my piboy xrs to come in, those guys take forever to shi
Wow, Awesome..me want. My original GG is deteriorating.
So.....this is the way.
Seems easier and less costly if you just have a 3DS or a PSP and mod it. Lol
Don't get me wrong though, it looks Cool :)
I have a feeling that the people producing this may not be aware of the legal peril that could await them. The UK is far more stringent than China and thee like when it comes to protection of intellectual property. So at best, I hope that they have acquired the rights to use the Sega name on the case, or they may get sued out of existence. But then we have the greatest likely danger in the creation and distribution of their images that will almost certainly contain unlicensed games. If trading standards or the boys in blue knock on the door then there could be some dire and expensive consequences. People have been jailed for copyright infringement and it is a hot topic.
Since when did Sega care? They never did anything to prevent piracy so why would using their name be any different.
I didnt get it. How can you play SNES and PS1 games without shifts and triggers?
You can reconfigure, but I guess mario kart doesn't actually need anything but accelerate, left and right, maybe fire and then hop for drift ?
