I have one of these. That was handed down to me from my brother, but just a car. No box, no controller. He wanted back a few years ago and I told him no, it was my now LOL. And my other brother handed me down a 1957 Chevy, black with flames on it. But it has a model airplane engine in it. I've never had either one of them running. But there are very cool cars.
Late to the conversation, but just came upon the video. I have this exact same toy car. I have the controller, and its original box. I received this toy for Christmas, most likely 1968 or 1969. I would have been 7 or 8 years old. I love it, and thought it was one of the coolest toys I'd ever received! I don't believe mine 'works' either, but it's been probably 25 years since I've tried it with fresh batteries. I recall that some years after receiving it, it stopped working and my Dad ( a classic could fix anything kinda man) fiddled with it for a while. I want to say that he did get it working again, but don't remember clearly. Super cool you two found and got a kick out of this unique toy, that I got many years of enjoyment out of as a kid. You asked where it would have been purchased......my Mom, in the 60's primarily did all her Christmas shopping for us kids out of the Sears or Montgomery Wards catalogs. So that is a possibility as to where she found mine.
I have also one of these. Sadly mine is missing the tube and the controller, and also the inside is missing some items. But I really really hope, that one day i'll be able to fix it, cause this is awesome! Thanks for the vid, this helps me a lot!
I bought one at a flea market with the box ... The box was busted up so I did my best to repair it ... The car is mint ... Instructions are perfect and battery compartment is beautiful ... If you answer me back I'll tell you what I paid
I had a nitro car, Cox .049 with pneumatic steering. I got it second hand and was never able to get it to run. It was an AMC Matador with the Mark Donahue red, white and blue livery. It would be cool to have it back.
I had that same Corvette, back in 1980, it was fantastic, even to this day I am still fascinated by how well it worked and how ingenious it was.
Such a cool thing!
i still have mine that was a gift . Can't remember the year i got it but it must have been the early 70's. Awesome toy .
Very cool! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I was born in 1969, and that's a really nice project to get going again! Looking forward to it's restoration! Please continue!
That's the plan!
Man that’s wild, old school mechanical design right there!

So good! Hopefully someone can chime in and give us some more info.

Thanks for the comment and story! So cool! We have lots of sears up here in those years, so it's likely it came from there as well. What a cool thing!

Wow! That was an epic car to begin with, and a Cox model of that would have been really cool!
my friend had one powered by a cox glow plug engine w/a exhaust throttle
it was fast if you could keep it steering straight
Goods videos ❤
It is so cool
