During LASIK surgery, nerves in the anterior cornea are severed during creation of the flap, and deeper corneal nerves are destroyed by laser ablation. Medical studies demonstrate that corneal nerves do not recover normal densities and patterns after LASIK. Some patients report severe, persistent eye pain after LASIK. Eye pain after LASIK is frequently diagnosed as dry eye, but there may be more to it than just dry eyes in some cases. Confocal microscopy examinations of post-LASIK eyes reveal aberrantly regenerated nerve fibers in the cornea, which may lead to corneal neuralgia (pain). For some patients, eye pain after LASIK is incapacitating.

Sir, I have the EXACT issue. What has helped considerably is the application of pure castor oil on the outside of the eyes every night and morning. Check the web.
You can also try Xdemvy (FDA approved just last year) and to truly address the issue, may need to consider an eye drop called oxervate. Check the youtube video by Dr. Andrew Lee "Corneal Neuropathic Pain". The problem of course is that oxervate is horrendously expensive !

Sorry, I also forgot to mention. Dr Toyos (Toyos clinic in TN) can send you compounded Ivermectin cream that made a significant difference for me. Please check it out. This will help to control the Blepharitis / MGD, but as mentioned, the underlying issue of the fractured nerves (NK) can only be addressed by something like Oxervate. May God bless and heal you.

I also have the same problems. I really wish they would disclose all the risks when people are considering Lasik. Every day of my life I regret getting it done. It's been 14 years since and my eyes have not gotten any better. Actually they have gotten worse...

@@noorulhuda4729 The underlying cause for the condition can vary from past herpetic infections, recurrent corneal erosions, certain medications, or refractive laser surgery. These causes all affect the corneal nerves, possibly leading to irreversible damage.
that's from a website. But some kind of trauma causes corneal neuroglia.

Yes it can happen due other non-surgery related reason. I suggest you read this article: www.aao.org/eye-health/diseases/what-is-neuropathic-corneal-pain-2

Havent heard of it. But any refractive surgeries carries inherent risks. Better to fully read and understand the risk section of the consent form before
