    Never fight out of anger.
    Never fight out of fear.
    Never fight out of ego.
Only fight if you or someone else’s life is in danger. That’s something my first martial arts instructor taught me.
Another thing that is really helpful in preventing a situation is the Rules of Stupid:
    Don’t go stupid places
    With stupid people
    To do stupid things
    At a stupid time
These two lessons have saved me from a lot of violence. ✌️🥋

On a serious note, Miyagi Chōjun, founder of *Gōjū-ryū,* was certainly for avoiding conflict when possible:
'Do not strike others, and do not allow others to strike you. The goal is peace without incident.'

@@leondarley2811 i am speaking of stylistically/ the art itself's approach to combat. Goju ryu would never teach you to just dodge something, but to go in and attack them/their strike (it gets this from wing Chun) dodging is a waste of time and energy and just sets you up to get swung at again on repeat until you actually move in and stop their attack.

Those wrist bone strikes to block with from gojo ryu will be your friend against any fighter untrained or not. But especially someone who doesn't fight for a living will momentarily freeze up and shut down from the pain. Giving you some good opportunities.(and potentially causing them to drop/lose the ability to grip any weapon they may have) and you will drop them to the floor if you can land it correctly to their thigh lol

How to avoid / win a fight:
First try to talk out of it, tell them you don't want trouble, if they want to rob you, give your money to them, your life is the most important. Y
    1.Run away if possible
(if you really feel like they wanna beat you up / your life is in danger then just RUN as fast as you can, dont care about anything else)
    2. If you can't run, and you are REALLY sure that they are going to fight you, Strike first, maybe a smack to both ears as it can disrupt their balance, or if you dont know how to do that, just a simple punch to the face, once you do the first punch, follow up with MORE. (Do not do flashy moves, you aren't trying to impress anyone, you are trying to survive, simple jabs and cross punches are effective.
Don't just hesitate and wait for him to throw one at you, punch him until he is like weak and crying for mercy.
    3. If they get knocked down or is retreating, don't try to deal more damage, simply go away.
    4. Play dirty, you are trying to survive, hes trying to beat you up, you both will play dirty, there are no rules, poke him in the eyes, etc
if you are in a clinch where you two are like in close contact, use your knees and also mouth just try to bite them.
    4.
    Learn a martial art
any kind is fine as long as the class is competent, it gives you faster reaction time, effective strikes, faster strikes, more powerful hits, techniques, and basically everything that will benefit you in a fight.

I've seen videos regarding knife defenses that have a pretty grim take on this. Because of how close knife-using criminals get to set up their ambushes, when developing their self-defense strategies, they start with the assumption that you've already been stabbed once. All the techniques are gross motor movement, stuff you can do on instinct and in an instant.
On the videos I've seen, they also promote front kicks, but they throw them at the kneecaps, going on the logic that they can't stab you if you take away their vertical base. The main problem of course being that it's awfully hard to train knee kicks without actually doing serious damage to your training partner.

I think taekwondo is definitely the best one to use for self defence. Training your legs so much definitely increases your odds of outrunning your attacker. Sure, you could try and fight them, but once they pull out a knife or a gun (god bless America) your chances will get rather slim. The best defense is of course running for your life until you're safe. Keep martial arts in the ring or on the mats, on the streets try to prioritize your survival

My background is in krav maga (before it became fashionable) kickboxing, judo and Spent some time with white crane Kung Fu.
I did a knife seminar with Amnon Darsa ex Israeli special forces and he said even if you run away from a knife you more often than not will get stabbed in the back.
Alot depends on the attackers mindset and intention, and unfortunately today because of no fear of consciousness, the attacker/attackers have more violent intentions.
I can only recommend looking at people like Lee Morrison and Geoff Thompson for urban combatives where they address the legal consequences of an altercation as well.
Like Nat said, don't get in a fight but unfortunately there are more and more people who are willing to attack you so developing situational awareness is also key.
    Stay safe.

a little edit, you said, nobody could hit you with a bat if your to close. yeah in general true, but in case the attacker reacts fast, the grib of a baseballbat has often a litte handholder(dont know how i should describ it, not my first language, the thing that your hands dont slip away.) i have a baseballbat with such a thing, if the attackers react fast he push it in your spine and causes a lot of damage. i like more the variation of the one you showed in a reacton. close the gab and hit him fast.
the rest advices are top ^^

I think it's a pommel for the hand hold. It's the same as the part at the end of a sword's handle that keeps your hand from slipping. I'm not sure if it's called differently with a baseball bat but why wouldn't it be?

I didn´t stop everything that I was doing and went over the math of how many new subs daily are needed to get you to one million on New Year´s Eve. I'm not that supportive of the channel. But if I were, I would have found that we have 15 weeks until there, and therefore you need around 1,6k new subs a day. Brazil has a population of 210 million as of today, 11 million of which reside in my city, Sao Paulo, a capital where there is a high percentage of martial artists. Do a video about BJJ and/or Capoeira, or simply do one wearing Brazil´s National Team Soccer Shirt and I´ll do the rest from here. Sounds like a plan? A delusional one, but a plan nevertheless 😂😂😂😂😂. Just kidding, Nat. You don't need to do any of that. You are a success already and in no time the numbers will exponentially grow. Great vid as always.

I fought of Belgian sheepdog. She was agressive and attacked my cat. Because i have trained taekwoondo and boxing and started kicking her and when i got her attention she jumped at me i moved aside and started kicking her and my sister's husband intervened and we locked her in a cage. She was his dog and accidentialy escaped. It all went well. My cat was little injured. Nothing bad. I got small cut on my left side of stomach. Kicks and movement that i have learned from sparring. Real full contact sparring. That helped me to get out of that situation with small cut. Kicking and keeping distance helped me. If i didn't had good reaction time, she would rip my insides out.
