53:27min “ threatres are dying” was really and excuse for why the Flash Flopped. Lest get real. The second weekend the Flash was in threates, I went back to see Spider-man Across the Spiderverse, and my threater was full.( this in the most central Theatre in Raleigh,NC. Regal North Hills in what’s now Midtown Raleigh) Elemental was packed as well, met a person earlier who was seeing it with his family.
The only way the Chris Reeve cameo is acceptable is if he gave written permission in his will to use his likeness in media or oral permission to his family. It is important to respect the wishes of the deseaed. I dont care what the family wants.
46:19min It’s always been a lie. Fast Franchise, Frozen Franchise, and multiple Pixar films went pass the 1 billion dollar mark in the same window of time.
I can't take another comic book movie, but I was very excited to see Michael Keaton as Batman. Now that you've said bad CGI I won't see it cause I to FKING hate, HATE bad CGI. Maybe, its time for Warner to hire 6 or 8 people to review some low budget indies, and freaking do something new and original. Example; District 9 was a short, that ended up being a really good film. God there's so much great stuff that could be epic with a Warner budget. As a side note, drawing people to theatres, Afterlife made 204 mil, 75mil budget, bums in seats.
I love the take of feeling action with no need to understand it and absolutely! right! about why comedy only works on a minor level (within the local crowd that can get the cultural/social nuance) but action can work worldwide.
Also comedy does not care for the size of the screen and quality of CGI (not the random Starlord chuckle) but action (superhero or not) and horror are better on screen, Everything everywhere all at once is the future of cinema, visually complex, challenging, story telling, that evokes feeling, that will get me in my car and in front of an IMAX, we are very tired of the Marvel shtick- minority revolution never succeeds, maintain current world order at all costs, never a sad ending narrative, people know better now, people want their revolution on screen, social or personal. My kid (9) already knows- the superhero always wins- he has no interest in seeing any of these movies.
The guy with the beard tells it straight and true. Props to his no nonsense views. The nerdy other guy is a subtle shill who is trying to justify the film's flaws. He is in the wrong profession. The United Nations should accept his resume.😂
Keep in mind about Gunns statement is that the movie was still in the editing stage at the time and editing is a very important part of a movie. Also the cgi wasn’t done at that time.
There was a lot about it that was entertaining but I can't view it as just "the CGI was bad." No part of filmmaking happens in a vacuum; the CGI being that bad tells me that the filmmaker or the studio execs didn't really care about the quality of the film as a whole, and that makes the whole film bad. -Ev
Thor love and thunder and Ant - Man in comparison were flops judging my comic movies standards this past year, the cgi although not great, didn’t detract it from being enjoyable, it was a nice homages to dc films of the past, and the movie still kept it about the flash. The dc universe was doomed from Batman v Superman and Justice League, this wasn’t the flop you should be singling out in my opinion
Well I get it CGI was bad. But as a whole this movie was very enjoyable for me. Looking at the history DCEU movies, apart from Zack Snyder's movies and first wonder women, everything else failed to make me care for them. Forgettable and no good feelings. At least this movie was entertaining, had a good story and some great acting. It was very enjoyable. a great time spent.
It did a lot of things well, certainly. I think we were both more invested than usual, at least compared to other modern DC movies. But that makes the obvious shortcomings THAT much more disappointing.
@@TheBluffCouncil keep up the good work. I enjoyed ur video. One suggestion though, the clocks tik tock sound was a bit annoying for me. Either lower its volume or play for the first few seconds.
@TheBluffCouncil yeah man, what I liked is how much like reading a comic it was. Especially the sequence with the dark flash and supergirl dying over and over.. the more I sit back and think about it im realising it has the same feeling I get from kicking back and opening a comic. Definitely going to go see it again
@@TheBluffCouncil I get complaints about cgi. But for me (accept for the cameos) I didn't find it as jarring and taking me out of the movie as much as previous dc films. One bug bear, some of the jokes felt Taylor made for the cinema goer and the occasion, and I think they're not going to land well in thd future watching at home. Probs for me ruin any chance of it becoming a timeless classic i watch again and again
@@philrose6226 The scene with Supergirl repeatedly dying definitely was interesting and had a ton of potential to be even more emotionally impactful. Just like so much of the film, it was close to being great it so many ways but just couldn't quite stick it! (in my opinion) -Ev
52:21 I glad I saw Top Gun in theatres and
Comedies do have the best experience in the big screen.

It's almost worth checking out just to see the insane CGI... 😅 Our jaws were on the floor.

Love this, and "The Subtle Shills" would be a great band name. Thanks for checking out the episode, Rodney! -Guy with the beard
I saw GOTG vol 3. And it’s far superior.
James Gunn had to have been very modest about the flash.
For goodness's sake, someone convince Christopher Nolan to lead DC
Nolan isn't one to roll out movies for the sole purpose of making a profit.... i would love for him to lead DC but it would never happen...
James Gunn is responsible for the Clooney scene.
Keep in mind about Gunns statement is that the movie was still in the editing stage at the time and editing is a very important part of a movie.

Editing is indeed quite important! And the CGI might STILL not be considered done... 😅
Seems like everyone jumping on the bandwagon, it’s wasn’t as bad, cgi was bad yes, it was however entertaining, far from perfect though
