    Of course I like this, don't we all? Although I now have a relatively large palette of AC's and EO's, your videos are always inspiring and surely people with just a small collection of materials will drool over these kinds of videos :-) There's always TGSC and basenotes of course but UA-cam is not really flooded with videos about perfume materials so all bits of information are welcome I think. Thanks!

      I’m glad you like it! I only ask since I’m not too interested in watching “smelling” kinds of videos myself. But the response seems positive so I’m happy to make more 😀

    Cardamom CO2 is one of my favorite materials, you are right and that it really does add a really intriguing sense of deepness and mystery to a lot of blends. I've definitely still only scratched the surface with it, but it tends to be a very easy reach to add a little intrigue to many different types of compositions.

      Yep I’m also finding it’s really easy to use

    Cardamoms are called Elaichi in India. Very strong and very effective

    These types of videos are very helpful indeed since when you look at the collection of various suppliers, it's hard to know which might fit your own taste or plans for a specific perfume.
    How does the CO2 extract smell compare to cardamom EO?
    Finally, you're right on with what you called the parts of the cardamom. The big husky bit is the pod (available as black or green-white, but that's used less often) which contains the black seeds. I love North African and Middle Eastern foods and they use a lot of cardamom so the smell of cardamom can have a synesthetic effect of taking me to fantasy exotic places

    • @sammacer
      @sammacer  Рік тому +1

      Thanks! And sadly I can’t help you compare since I don’t have to EO. And yes, it reminds me of some foods too :)

    I see Geosmin as a floral and herbal modifier extender. As I imagine say, a bed of soil to the plant or herb or flower rooted in it, or the aromatic seeds of a tree that fall on it. Just the way you might say, 'paint' grass with Isocyclocytral or cyclal _around_ other foliage. Similarly with moss and mushroom, accenting with ozonic materials to establish the kind of environment you're trying to express (an open field, woods, forest,plains, valleys, shores, etc.). Just my thoughts. Hope you can experiment with these notions. Peace.

      By the way, I can't help but notice how closely mushroom and soil materials are to Cashmeran. Curious, a musk accord that _isn't_ musk, but then how likely that musk and soil share similar aromatic molecules? Try Geosmin +: casia, vetiver, peppermint,sage,rose,rosemary,basil,ginger, etc.. With Peppermint/Ginger imparts an animalic lemony cinnamic spicy smell w/hints of saltiness Vetiver/Mint = Geosmin is a delightful rustic fresh herbal.

      @@sammacer Sam can i use cardamom essential oil instead of co2 ?
      Will it give the same effects ?

    • @wib6044
      @wib6044 Рік тому

      I use the plain essential oil in a number of my blends. It pairs well with diluted Amber xtreme in the couple of instances I’ve used it. It brings down the sharpness of AX
      I don’t have two kinds (essential oil, Co2) of any oil as of now.
      That would be interesting to experiment with though.
      Co2 is suppose to be thicker, longer lasting and retain the natural aroma better.
      That may be a good or bad thing depending on the goal. I imagine it would dominate the blend more, to good or ill effect.
      That might be a good video Sam if you happen to read this.
      Create several identical formulas, each with the same oil in different form. Absolute, distilled, Co2 and see how it changes things.

    Great video Sam. I think these types of videos are an asset. There aren’t many resources on aroma chemicals. Mountain aromatics is one of the few that comes to mind. Many times what is written as a description for an AC is way off when I smell them, so another persons description is always helpful. For the symroxane I get amber, sweet, floral, leather, woody and very animalic, 🤔 interesting.

    Great video Sam. Thank you.
    I have enjoyed cardamom with almonds, Jasmin and sandalwood. I add a bit of cinnamon to go towards the gourmand/ dessert. Just a little, as cinnamon can be overpowering.
    I look forward to your next amazing videos. Cheers

    Will be interesting to see just how much these new molecules like veraspice get used by renowned perfumers in the designer market. Is it true that perfumers are incentivized to use captive molecules from their respective house?

    • @sammacer
      @sammacer  Рік тому

      Maybe incentivised a little but there is the natural incentive of having something unique. I think that most molecules get used a little, only occasionally one becomes super popular. I’m no expert though

    Good video, would like to see more weird smells.
    One thing I'm looking is a molecule that smells kf burning wood or fire as a whole. I'm think of making a perfume based upon a forest fire. So I don't want spicey I just want smokey and woody.

      Perfumers Apprentice has a smoke accord that might work. Texas cedar wood, guaiac wood are in that neighborhood.
