I saw a Mark I Ford Fiesta the other day and whilst it doesn't have the charm of the Golf it does have a unique look that we don't see on UK roads anymore. I hope you enjoy the build, we will.
Man, I changed so many timing belts with the engine out that I had forgotten how much of a pain it is to change when the engine is in the car ! Love all your videos, and it's nice seeing a fellow compatriot being that successful on YT ! Regards from Liège !
Nice Rabbit. Came here for the BMW content, stayed to enjoy the vw's even though it's an ff. I'm old enough to remember when these Rabbits where everywhere in the U.S.. My dad had the diesel rabbit truck, I learned to drive with it. back before we had to call them "Golf" I always preferred to call them Rabbits, so continue to do so to this day just to rib the young guys.
Just to let you know I missed a lot of videos because they didn’t appear in my feed. I’ve clicked the notification bell now and have caught up on the videos. 👍
I love this channel. Awesome cars, relatable content, loads of DIY and super chill and relaxed vibes. It's a breath of fresh air with so many shout car vlogs out there.
“I was kinda of afraid a lot of you would hate that car” Who on its own mind would hate a supercharged Mini, especially an early one designed by non other than Frank Stephenson? BTW, the only thing that really matters is whether you like or not since you are the one paying for it.
Incredible work, the engine looks amazing, not only functional but also a piece of art, congratulations!! Really loking forward to see it mounted and working😬😬
The engine looks super clean now! Your channel has been amazing lately. The content is always super entertaining and informative. It's hard to find a balance between the two, but you have!
and the 827 in Brazil that we call high performance AP engine are great engines for preparation here in Brazil in terms of preparation is the main thing, both turbo and aspirated are doing well.

Hi there Memphis I have been waiting patiently for this series to be back on! The engine looks fantastic and can’t wait for next video Carbs look great by the way
Back in the day on the vortex, someone did a flow test on 2.0 counter flow and cross flow heads and found the Audi 3a head responded the best to porting and polishing. Even compared to the cross flow head.
I don't know why anyone would not like your videos. I love how the carbs look on that engine especially the trumpets absolutely beautiful. My question is and maybe I missed it. Why carbs over the CisE or Digifont fuel injection? Anyway it is coming along beautifully and I'm shocked you can get all these parts. You are giving me lots of ideas if my 8v 1.8 dies. Lol. Enjoy my friend. Always a pleasure. Prost!!
although - NITRIL gloves help a lot - rubber is nothing good, nitril is the new rubber :) after years of having my hands skin being itchy because of all the chemicals, I started to wear the nitril gloves... honestly - once you try them on you will only reluctantly want to smear your hands with the grease...
This engine is looking gorgeous, cant wait to hear it scream, but please dont start bolts or nuts with the drill/impact, start them by hand and then use the drill, otherwise you will end up stripping a bolt and spending hours on a 2 minute job.
Looking great man! Love the build! Don't forget to use a actual torque wrench and not that calibrated bicep! I worry about your oil cooler clocking. Hope you figured it out before you got too deep into the build. Make sure you put washers behind every nut, need that hold pressure evenly distributed across the surface.
This build is looking good! According to what I have researched about 2.0 engines some years ago, I think that timing covers from a MK3 GTi engine code "2E" will suit this engine perfectly, since both are the so-called long block. If you find some of these cars at junkyard take them and try, they should fit!
Beautiful engine! Be sure to pre-oil it before starting. It's been sitting for so long that the cam and crank bearing journals are probably dry. Buy a oil pump drive shaft pre-oiler, and use it where the distributor plugs in. Run it for 30-45 seconds - that should build pressure to oil the cam and crank journals. Then reinstall the distributor and then attempt to start it. Cheers!
Hahahaha! Didnt know there existed an adapter kit for the dizzy xD Could have saved myself a lot of work, on the lathe, turning aluminium adapters by hand :P Thanks for the video :D
Great job, so excited for this! :D youre doing a very similar swap to what i have planned for my mk1 jetta so im following this one closely! (mine is 1.3 currently so will be a bit more work changing the engine mounts and so..)
Even before autodoc sponsored you I used them because of their good prices and pretty nice quality, but now I'm only gonna use them since they sponsor you 😅 get us a discount Memphis 😂
Great job man! But you make a little mistake when you change your timing belt tensor, you have to rotate this tensor in clockwise to streth this belt. Doing it that way, maybe your first cover fix in the right place!
So so cool...!!! I enjoy so much your videos. The trumpets looks amazing, dud. I think you might do some upgrades to your garage's lighting system, installing LED lamps, in order to get more lumens to your videos. Just saying. Good luck, dud. Keep going like this...!!!
@@memphis5220 Oh, fine...!!! Seems like fluorescents bulbs. LOL. Then, maybe, you need more watts or more lamps. BTW, your videos are great. Keeo going, dud.!

The tensioner excenter should be turned clockwise when tensioned please check!
Yes you are correct, the top cover should fit then.
