I had Pyogenic Granuloma on my lip! The Dr said the best way to get rid of it was to cut it out. I had 1 month before surgery. So I started to research ways to keep it from getting to big. There was a doctor who had found research stating to use Salt on it and wrap it to get it down into the skin. WELL IT WORKED! OMG so far so good. It took about 2 weeks, and I'm now just watching to see if it comes back. Good luck everyone. Reach out to me if you need more info on how I did it.

@@KishBish Hi. Here is how I did it. I put some peroxide around the granuloma and on it. This helped dry my skin from any oils and also cleaned it. You want it dry around the area so that the bandaid will stick and not come off. Then get a little bit of clean water and dap it only on top of the granuloma. Just enough for the salt to stick to it. Ok, now comes the tricky part. Place some salt on the middle of your hand. Don't be afraid to put a lot. As your palm is down smash your lip down into the palm of your hand. Hold it there for a few seconds giving the salt enough time for the salt to stick to the water. Lift your face up and look into the mirror. Clean off the excess salt that you don't need around the Granuloma. Now, have your clear bandaid ready. Place it over the Granuloma. Remember, we cleaned the area of any oils, and you removed any excess salt, so your band-aid should stick. I used a waterproof band aid, I think LOL. You should do this at night when you are ready to go to bed. In the morning, take the bandaid off. It should start to look a little white. Now, repeat the process. Crazy I know but it worked for me. Best of luck and let me know how it goes. Oh and IT HAS NOT RETURNED!

    Hi
I have Granuloma Annulare and I've cured it. I had infections in my body. I feel u need to look at the body as the system that it is. The skin will show up any sickness within. I had a severe bladder infection. It was treat with minocycline. I also had a few bad teeth. It is the by-product of another problem. I hope this information helps. We need to stop looking at our bodies as as separate. It is a system. The same as a car. One thing goes wrong and it effects other things. My rash began on my bladder and spread from there. I used minocycline. I also put Vaseline and johoba on it.
    Kind regards

Thank you for this. I have had generalized granulare for over 15 years. Because mine was so bad the dermatologist did not recommend the light therapy. (Mainly the price. And that it would just come back.) For years it was on my hands, from above the elbows to several inches below (both). It was also on both legs. Thank goodness it wasn’t on my face although it was close to around hairline and eyebrow. I live in Georgia (where our summers are hot and humid) but stopped wearing a swim suit or even shorts. I would wear long sleeves and long pants even in the summer. Not because I was vain, but because when people see it they think you have something contagious. The only times it has gotten better was when my steroids had to be increased for my lupus. But the only time it completely went away was when the lupus started affecting my brain/central nervous system. I was on incredibly high doses of steroids for over a year. I am down to 5mg/day and it is already coming back-a spot on my wrist and one on my shin. I am NOT advising for anyone to take oral steroids. I have struggled with losing the 35lb I gained and have a decreased bone density, cataracts, etc. I would have never taken it for granuloma alone. Regarding the hydroxychloroquine, as someone with lupus I have been taking that for years and it never helped. My drs didn’t believe me that my lesions were painful. Not all the time. Mainly if I bumped them against something. I guess the areas were just so sensitive? Probably more than the average person wants to know...

      I believe you.
Doctors are not good listeners, and are chronically dismissive. This is the crux in not correctly identifying so many medical issues. There is a lack of acknowledgment that patients are experts on their own bodies. Medicine should be collaborative. Unfortunately, much of the medical community believes they are intellectually superior, whilst the general population are drooling idiots. Many health problems could be more accurately diagnosed, and subsequently resolved between patient and doctor, if only for an attentive set of ears.

Thanks for sharing this. I have had this disease since I was 7 years old, and I am now 23. It has only grown larger throughout the years, and more spots have formed. Backs of arms, hands, knees. It is extremely frustrating to see that there is not much medical clarity for this disease. When I was first diagnosed at 11 years old, I was told it would go away on its own within 5 years. This definitely did not happen! I hope to see more updates in the future and more progression for this. Thanks Dr. Dray.

The Dr gave me some steroid cream but did not tell me to wrap it tight so it basically did nothing. 4 or 5 more circles erupted on my arms and legs. I was freaking out that one would appear on my face but it did not. They went away on their own. It took about a year. The one on my foot looks like it’s trying to reappear every so often but it goes away within a week.

Ive had it for nearly 50 years and have learnt to live with it. It has never completely gone away and yes it does itch and is very painful if you knock or bump them. The pain is sharp and intense and feels like a cross between a stinging, burning and throbbing sensation. I have always had them on my fingers, hands, feet and elbows, though I have had some on my upper arm, knees and wrists. I call them creepers because they will flare up, get big then after a period of time will fade and disappear from that spot and re- appear elsewhere to flare up again. I have had years of treatments such as many localised cortisone injections. liquid nitrogen cryo treatments and various creams (and wrapping) including celestone. Nothing has helped and they still remain. I've had Granuloma Annulare since the age of 7 and expect I will have it for the rest of my life. I no longer bother with treatments though I do hope one day that a cause and a cure will be found. And yes, I have experienced much emotional trauma, discrimination and judgement especially because its always been somewhere on my fingers or hands. Anyway keep up the good work Dr Drey. I hope you will update people if more discoveries come to hand. (no pun intended). :)

So sorry to hear this. I have been dealing with GA for the past 30 years. Mine also itch terribly and are very uncomfortable. I get them on my wrists, ankles and sometimes mid-torso. The ones on my mid-torso seem to only happen once I'm having a flare-up in the other areas and then I accidentally scratch myself near the waist. It happens from the lightest scratch during an immune flare up. I'm afraid every time I have to adjust my pants or clothes. Somtimes just touching my skin in those areas during a flare up will cause a fingerprint or hand print shaped welt that lasts until the entire GA episode dies down. It takes months or more without topical creams and usually weeks to a month with them. So I know what you mean about emotional trauma. I feel like I have to live like a butterfly, afraid of the lightest touch during my flare-ups. When I'm not having a flare up, I can scratch away with no welts and no problems. I've tried some treatments and the one that works the best seems to be using topical sterioids and then to slather a fragrance free oil over the top. The oil seems to create a protective barrier and it seems to push the steroid creams further into my skin. I can't do the wraps as it rubs at my skin and causes the rash to continue getting bigger. I hope you have found some relief over the few years since you posted this. Best of luck.

  • @ReAnnRing

25 years now - they go to some areas and stay a long time and then move for years later on to another area. No way am I using skin thinning steroids. I had the top wound care doctor in the world do a biopsy and generally he said it's Puva lighting that does the trick. Of course that's only temporary and I never do it because I don't want to expose my skin anymore to even the UVB lighting. I found that a lower acid anti-inflammatory diet plus fasting does a little better for me, but I have had these things plague me since I came home from a business trip and got some kind of wicked illness and two weeks later the rings appeared on my feet and my ankles, and it moved across my entire body. I cannot find a doctor yet who seems to care. I'm glad you're speaking about this. Most of my doctors just shrug their shoulders and say they don't know what it is - here take a steroid. That is not the answer! Steroids are horrible for your body.

I have only had very brief periods of my life without “spots.” My outbreaks are generally around joints (knees, elbows, knuckles). I had outbreaks in new areas in each pregnancy. As I’ve gotten older, I have stopped trying to treat it and just avoided the sun and alcoholic beverages. I definitely notice breaking out and hot/itchiness if I have any current spots with the consumption of any alcohol, but particularly vodka. 😓

Thanks for doing this video! I had one a few years ago on the back of my calf. I put an ointment from the dermatologist on it every day for many many months. Eventually I got tired if doing that because it wasn't making any difference. After about a year and a half or so it just went away on its own and I had nothing for about a year. Now, a couple if weeks ago I noticed another one starting to form in the middle of my chest low down just where the top of my stomach starts. I hope it goes away quickly and doesn't get too big.

I will be 68 in a few days and I suddenly got GA when I was about 62. However, mine looks like deep bruising on the upper and lower legs. It never looks like the "ringworm" or "bumpy" type of GA. I have had it come up suddenly and look so severe that it looked like I was in a car wreck or beaten up. I have also had a few places show up that are a pale purple bruise looking area. I have had biopsies of it and it always comes back confirmed to be GA. I wish I could upload a picture of it to show people that it doesn't always look like bumps and can definitely look like bruises. It just comes and goes and nothing has helped. I do notice that if I get under severe stress that it can show up suddenly and fiercely.

The last year we lost my dad and my mom’s disease has started! We don’t why exactly and don’t know what to do also! I would like to just throw this out there... I'm one of the worst cases my doctor's have said they've ever seen or heard of... I have PCOS so my hormones are crazy and I may have insulin issues... When I got pregnant mine completely cleared up and went away. After I had my baby, it came back with a vengeance. My sister got the birth control implant in her arm and she got it pretty bad on her stomach and sides, when she had her birth control taken out, it completely cleared up. I do wonder if it could be related to hormonal issues/disorders.

I've had GA for 48 years, since I was 11. It disappears with pregnancy (4 babies over a 18 year span). Also it disappears while on birth control. I've read this disappears from other people with the same. Has anyone checked into it? Vitamin E, HCQ, cortisone over the years has no affect on it. The only thing that has worked was Humira. I would be happy to be a test patient if anyone is interested to find out the cause.
