Really random story but feels nice to "get off my chest" My family grew up very poor and buying a used Wii from a flea market around 2010 with a no-name CRT TV was a big deal for my family and something which i remember very fondly. In the beginning we only had the wii sports game (i played almost exclusively tennis, my dad loved golf tho). But after some months and enough nagging we sometimes bought games you would literally find for 5€ in the supermarket bargain bin (like ford off road racing or littlest pet shop friends). I dont remember exactly why but for this game me and my dad took the bus to the city centre (I was like 7 yo) and we bought it from a gamestop (probably pre-owned). I dont know how much exactly it was but even i "acknowledged" that it was a lot of money for my dad at the time. I also remember there was a demo kiosk of blur and the split/second game and i always "dreamt" of having a 360/ps3 and games with graphics like that. But anyways i was absolutely exctatic about NFS Nitro and i spent most of my 1st grader life playing the game. The first day i had the game, my family went to get groceries and i would call them and update them on my progress 😂😂 My dad had to move away from the country because of work and my mom was always working very late shifts while my sister was at kindergarden, so i walk home from school, make myself a sandwich and just vibe on this game for hours on end waiting for my mom and sister to come home. Always felt kinda "adult" like for a 7yo but thats pretty normal in finland ig. Back then ofc i thought the characters in the cinematics were really cool, and having never visited any other country ever it really filled in the stereotypes lol. In hindsight, it really isnt a great game but it did make me very happy as a child. I rarely went back to ford/landrover racing off road (5€ supermarket game) even though that wasnt bad either. I also had chrysler classic racing but even for my standards back then that game was literal ass, its hard to even find gameplay of it, it literally plays like a 99c steam asset flip game except on wii. On the weekends when my sister was home we would sometimes play wii sports or the littlest pet shop game, which is also really cute and honestly to this day holds up well as a kids game. I did have a random acer windows xp laptop from around 2003 as a pass-me-down from an aunt of mine and a cracked copy of underground 1,2 and mw2005 but the installations were kinda messed up because the burnt discs were scratched and the disc drive was dying in general. also the games ran at 10-20 fps max, but since i never experienced anything else i just thought thats te way the games play lmao. My grandpa heard i love the nfs series after the whole nitro thing and bought me undercover PC version, i think in 2008 when it was brand new or 2009, not sure. the laptop literally played the intro scene on the highway at about 3 seconds per frame, i wasnt sure if i was watching a cinematic or actually playing. had to wait until 2013 when i got another laptop to make use of the copy lmao
Thank you so much for sharing that, I always tell people that things like this is the best part of this channel so far. I can feel the nostalgia just by reading that. But I definitely understand you on the PC part, I had a crappy PC that I always tried running games that definitely didn't run on it, including Bully, to which I even had to get a weird DLL to make the game think I had a graphics card lol

@@ReplicantBattyman yeah my family including me moved from finland to germany in 2012 and my dad immediately got about 3x his old salary while our living costs stayed the same. when we heard we were going to a whole new country i was kinda hesitant so my parents promised to buy me a ps3 (which obviously was enough to convince 8yo me) Like 2nd day in germany we went to a gamestop and bought a ps3 slim which came bundled with gran turismo 5 (great game) and little big planet 2 (even better). the wii wasnt touched for about 2 years lol :( but it will always hold a special place in my heart. from my pocket money i sometimes bought pre-owned games like need for speed the run or old sports games for 5-15€. but to be honest, to this day i have never played the split/second game, ig thats kinda on my backlog lmao. i just remember so vividly standing in that gamestop as a little kid and watching some teenagers (or adults, not sure anymore) playing the demo on the kiosk and thinking how "cool" they are for playing a "real" game, not just a wii one
Its interesting how i can be so related with someone so far from my country (i'm from Costa Rica) that have a similar experience like mine with this game, i had a Wii as a first console ever back in 2010, i already played with my step brother's PS2 but i didn't live with him, so we rarely played together, back in the day i didn't know anything about game consoles, so i asked my mom a Wii for christmas gift, thinking that it was gonna be cheaper than a Ps3 (what a mistake lol) so... i only had the games that comes with the wii, but i also wanted to have a racing game, and as i already had played NFS most wanted in my stepbro's PS2, i also wanted that game for my Wii, so asked my mom to buy me a Need For Speed game for my birthday, so she gave money to one of her coworkers to buy a NFS game in one of his regular trips to the U.S as is was gonna be cheaper there than in my country, 2 weeks later the game finally comes, and it was so dissapointed that the game wasn't NSF Most Wanted but instead it was NSF Nitro, back in the day we had a very small TV in which i had to played so close to it for get focused in the race, playing with the Wii co ntroller as a stering wheel lol, besides that, i really enjoyed the game and it introduced me to new music like Tony Hawk's games did in the PS2, at least things have changed so much and now i am better and happy to play a lot of games. greatings from Costa Rica!

Bro this game was such a nostalgic memory for me. Growing up with this need for speed was amazing. The tracks, the cars, the music and sounds (the skyline is my favorite sounding, along with the zonda r) and the overall gameplay really made this game unique among the others. And even though this game was pretty goofy and very different from the main formula, I think that was the point when the devs were making the game (Perhaps also because it was made by EA Montreal and not EA America). And yea the characters were stereotypical but it was a different time back then in my opinion. But other than that, it’s a great Mario-kart like racer with elements that make it a hardcore racing game (well not completely but somewhat). Also for the car editing, I’d recommend just using the wii remote if you’re gonna add vinyls to the car. Works much better than a control stick when you can point to specific parts of the car.
Hmm and I always heard Brazil was just kids kicking a ball but in front of rainbow houses while Bob Burnquist skateboarded by. I had a friend from Sao Paulo who said that and taught me Portuguese
I grew up playing the DS Version and I had an absolute blast playing that game so many memories and hours spent. I remember when I would get picked up from school and my mom would hand me my DS and I would play the game with some headphones. I still have the receipt of when I got the game. The game cost 30 dollars and my parents paid 4 dollars for a 1-year warranty thing and in total it cost $36.90. I got the game on November 21 2009 at Best Buy. I once went to a blockbuster which was a place to rent video games and I saw that Need For Speed Nitro was on the Wii and so I rented it out and 9 year old me hated it because the driving mechanics were terrible and I remember telling my mom the DS version is wayyyyy better than the Wii version. I still own the game and I will play it every now and then. The soundtrack is so good I still listen to it till this day there are definitely some bangers in there.
Yeah same, the DS version fucking slaps. I never olayed the Wii version but i can see why a lot of people didn't like it with these whacky characters and the weird cartoon artstyle. Fortunately the DS version had none of that.

Listen man I can see all the reasons why it's bad (and holy crap those stereotypes are killing me). But the game was so freaking goofy and dramatic (not to mention one of the only few games our father played with us) we managed to 100% the game and master everything. It's funny how your perception on what makes a good or bad game changes when you grow up. Would I play it again willingly? Nah but it made some great memories. Thanks for the banger video bro!
This game was one of my most played games on my wii back in the day. I used to have so much fun with it but I’m not sure how I’d feel about it now that I’m much older. But I appreciate it for doing something at least different than the rest of the games.
NFS the run is the best NFS ever , but many people hate it because they are focusing on the on the open world and many customizations and didn’t focus on the real action in the game and the amazing racing mode because unfortunately most of people are not a real racers
Didn't see my comment on the comment scroll but suffice to say, I'm glad you are still looking at bad NFS games, also your spiderman videos are very cool, keep making those.
I love this game. It's weird for a Need For Speed game, but that's what makes it so unique compared to the typical "realistic" driving games that all look the same...
i got this game for easter one year when i was little and even my 5 year old brain looking at the boxart for this game thought "this is not need for speed.."
Another good video! I got this game when it was new and I ain't played it on my Wii in a very long time, but I don't remember having a good experience with the drifting in this game and I think I got frustrated with one of the drifting challenges and gave up on it. I always found it kind of weird how they have that guy talking in the tutorial, yet to my knowledge that's the only time the game even has voice acting. I kind of liked this game at first, but overtime I lost interest in it and maybe it's my age, but I don't really like the cartoony theme looking back now. I'm glad other people enjoyed this game because I didn't care too much for it. Must admit, when Unbound came out, I got a lot of NFS Nitro vibes from it and despite how I felt about Nitro, I actually want to play that one someday.
This game's soundtrack is great, with artists and bands like Rise Against, Taking Back Sunday, Matt and Kim, Alex Metric, Major Lazer and El-P, too bad such a great soundtrack was wasted in such an underwhelming game
Need for speed nitro is one of my favorite nfs games. ever since I was little i remembered this game making me happy and i always had a thing for thingo's 69 charger i used to picture my self in this game racing. other people might say different but I say this is one of the best nfs games ever.
The studio realized that going for realistic graphics had two major downsides, it wasn't that possible on the wii, and believe it or not, they weren't given a good budget, and realistic graphics were out of the question. Stylized graphics were the way to go. I happen to really like this game, I just wish it could have had a AAA budget instead of EA's famous pitiful budget they throw to port games/dev new games to lower end consoles that they know wouldn't be able to be ported.
"It wasn't that possible on the Wii" Gamecube can do it and it's a weaker Wii. Hell, PS2 can do it and it's overall weaker than the Gamecube, which is weaker than the Wii. It's because the budget, not that Wii can't provide OK looking realistic looking graphics.
@@ZX3000GT1 It was what the ps3 and xbox 360 was putting out that the wii couldn't cough out, if I'm not mistaken, this was when Hot Pursuit came out for those respective consoles. Remember, the wii *is* a souped up Gamecube internally, which is why it had 1:1 backwards compatibility. The studio decided to make a new game recycling old stuff along with putting a creative twist on it rather than choosing to make a watered down version of Hot Pursuit, which I thought to be a really good choice. What I meant, without going on a tangent, is that the wii couldn't keep up with the generation it was in with raw silicon power, and a watered down version of arguably the best need for speed game of them all would not sell to good reception.
@@e-money9251 Well, if Gran Turismo 4 can be achieved on PS2, there's no reason why can't Wii do the same. And GT4 manages to look quite realistic. Sure, not on the same level as PS3 realism, but it's still look quite realistic. If he meant PS3/360 graphics, that means he's talking about HD resolutions, which Wii indeed could not achieve (although going back to GT4, that game has 1080i interpolated output through component cables on PS2).

The only things I remember from nitro are: 1. Pressing drift turned the game into an autoscroller, it completes the turn for you 2. The cars looked so cool ehen I was 14
2:37 Is that a reference to Need For Speed: Most Wanted (2005)? In that game, the Volkswagen Golf was locked out aswell. You could only buy it at the start of Career Mode if you had a save from a previous game on your Memory Card/PC.
I dunno, I actually kinda liked this game. I thought it was a very refreshing experience after many very similar games. And especially after the disaster that was NFS Undercover. This was a very unique game, I think it does its job well. Also side note the Shift games are very underrated.
Undercover was only a disaster on the PS2/Wii, because those consoles were outdated and terribly underpowered in 2008. On PC and current gen consoles it was the first HD Need for Speed and looked and played gorgeous! Nitro, on the other hand didn't feel like Need for Speed at all. I can see why people would have enjoyed it who were still children when it came out.
@@LRM12o8nah Undercover on PS3 and PC still sucks, story is boring, handling is strange, campaign is boring, customization is worse, and the graphics are awful, the bloom is unbearable. Undercover just sucks.

Glad to see this game getting more attention! I'm totally biased cause I played it as a kid, but appreciate a fresh take on it. I will say it plays a million times better with a Wii remote
honestly as a kid i had a lot of fun with nitro on the nintendo ds and i say that having played underground thru carbon religiously. graphics were inoffensive for the system, the soundtrack is super underrated, it plays pretty tight too (not sure how much of this is the nostalgia as i haven't picked it up in over 10 years). only gripe for me was in the amount and variety of content.
10 races, fake-ass "drifting"... This looks like a Mario Kart clone. I only played one of those, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars, and the way the cars drift in that look like they do in this. They just "snap" into a sideways position and you have to move the stick left and right to balance the car or something. Very unappealing in a game with the Need For Speed name. It's like they lost the source code of the good games going into Undercover, add an identity crisis on top o that and you get almost a decade of bad tittles.
This may be the worst, but what are your thoughts on the newest one? Unbound, that is. I'm having an absolute blast with it, it's in my top 3 NFS games

Hey, I have a question: what's your opinion on need for speed: rivals? For me, it's a love-hate relationship. I've beat the cop career but Something still feels...off.
@@BlooTeg alot of people have said that, which is fine. The sense of speed is kinda bad. 178 mph in rivals doesn't feel like 178 mph, it feels like 140. And 60 mph feels like 20. But hey, the handling is decent. For me, the best part is the pursuit tech. I've heard people say that it's online only, but everyone I've seen say that plays on PS4, I play on ps3 and have never had that problem. Also it's a total glitch fest. It's cool that it had the Hennessy venom gt, but even that feels slow.
And when ever your online, in the zone and about to bust a racer or win a race, if the host leaves, the game has to stop and reload EVERYONE. ITS SO ANNOYING. But at least my cars health and pursuit tech are refuled.
Mind you the wii is a suped up version of the game cube so basically they went with a cartoony art style to save on memory and the game controlled like crap with the GameCube controller because it was meant to be played with the regular wiimote they probably did the other controls later in the game development and it didn’t have that much development time either so that’s why It played like crap because most development went into NSF Shift even though a different development team worked on it

4:27 I know this is about the Wii ver. but there's something interesting regarding the art style on the DS. The physical version of the game has the same type of stylized and deformed cars as the Wii. There was however a digital version of Nitro on the DSi Shop known as Nitro-X, for whatever reason all the cars in it had different models that were proportioned normally and the visuals in general were less different and less stylized. It doesn't really make much sense tbh.

Last years i was getting gaming smartphone for present, and i playee MW gamecube version. My phone played game better than my original Pc when game was new.
Great story. Did you eventually get a chance to play those games you always wanted to as a kid? like the 360 and PC ones?
NFS nitro was the entire reason I knew about Tesla a decade before everyone else did. I think that’s gotta count for something.
Elon is definitely proud.
As a born Paraguayan (but mostly grown up in Canada) the beetle (or fuuki [foo-key] as my family calls it) was also very close to us. My dad owned something like 7 of them before we moved to Canada. Hope to one day own one myself.

The soundtrack is so good I still listen to it till this day there are definitely some bangers in there.
that's really cool, it seems like everyone agrees the DS version is better than the wii, which is interesting hahah
Yeah same, the DS version fucking slaps. I never olayed the Wii version but i can see why a lot of people didn't like it with these whacky characters and the weird cartoon artstyle. Fortunately the DS version had none of that.

It's interesting how The Worst NFS has the Best Cars Sounds in it's Franchise

Despite not being a real NFS, The Run is an hidden gem. Idk about the Wii version but i had a lot of fun playing it on the PS3
I think only played it once a long time ago, I have to get that one again
NFS the run is the best NFS ever , but many people hate it because they are focusing on the on the open world and many customizations and didn’t focus on the real action in the game and the amazing racing mode because unfortunately most of people are not a real racers

i got this game for easter one year when i was little and even my 5 year old brain looking at the boxart for this game thought "this is not need for speed.."

I'd really like to see how that! I think the closest we got to it is unbound but it's still not even close
"It wasn't that possible on the Wii"
Gamecube can do it and it's a weaker Wii.
@@ZX3000GT1 what he meant with realistic graphics is ps3 and xbox 360 graphics and of course it’s impossible with the wii

I dunno, I actually kinda liked this game. I thought it was a very refreshing experience after many very similar games. And especially after the disaster that was NFS Undercover. This was a very unique game, I think it does its job well.
Also side note the Shift games are very underrated.
Hey, I like Nicktoons Racing for the PS1, I don't judge anyone by the games they like. Most of the time.

Hey, I have a question: what's your opinion on need for speed: rivals?
For me, it's a love-hate relationship. I've beat the cop career but Something still feels...off.
Not at fan, at least from what I can remember
But to be fair, I dropped it pretty quickly
