We, citizens of Russia, strongly advise against going to such expensive places to eat, even by St. Petersburg standards. There are many cheaper places where you can eat no worse, and even better.

Why do you keep going to these dumb tourist trap restaurants with $38 meals?! There are so many places with food that's just as good if not better that are twice as cheap! A good rule of thumb is, if you see matryoshkas and other traditional touristy stuff => skidaddle out of there.

I am right there. Lucky you. Do prepare yourself. Read. And learn the Cyrillic script with yt. This city is overwhelming. 2 days I was in shock. It seems you are in some Italian city. Architecture, canals, etc. But you're not. Distances are enormous. Nothing is compact. Everything is grandiose, monumental. Really sad to have to leave soon. Visa restrictions. At least I can get an evisa.

@@galinakazakova3737 Well, he had no money. RUB. And he didn't know whether he could change in time before the money exchange places close at 9 p.m. So that's definitely not a good feeling. Don't know the distance he walked, but he is a strong guy. Sometimes it's more straightforward to walk instead of getting lost in the bowels of a metro system, you don't know.
@@classics39 nope, he had just exchanged the roubles right there in Evropeyskiy or somewhere else in Kievskaya square and then went off to Smolenskaya, which is not the nicest walk, about 1 km uphill. He was either stressed or he went that way to take pretty pictures of the Moscow river, which would be quite strategic, but also exhausting. Either way, I thought we were discussing whether his stress was clickbait and an act or not, and I suggested another incongruity supporting both possibilities))

A few years back I visited Saint Petersburg in June too , my first day there was amazing and it was the longest day of the year , basically it was no night ! Just day light all the way … an experience I will never forget.
Saint Petersburg is just a beautiful City , better than Paris or London …

А в Питере всего лишь белые ночи в середине июня, да и то не особо «белые». Это просто местный туристический ход. Кстати в Москве например июнь тоже довольно светлый и июньский день длится намного дольше, чем например в августе.

В Питере же есть только белые ночи, да и то довольно слабые по сравнению с Карелией например. Я вообще всю жизнь живу здесь и знаю, о чем говорю. В Москве июнь кстати тоже очень светлый и долго не темнеет, я довольно часто там бываю и могу сравнить. Август зато намного темнее июня, впрочем как и в Петербурге. В Питере просто эти ночи как бы «белее», дольше светло.

Twice in a row we won't take with the governor who doesn't solve the problems of the city. we will try to solve this in the next elections and hope that SPB will blossom again

As a man who was born in SPB and lived there for 30 years - it's not clean, not very safe and not so affordable if you earn a local salary. And it could be much more beautiful if government actually gave even a single fuck about historic places' and buildings state, spending money on repairments instead of war.

Это связано с присутствием стоячей воды, они в ней размножаются. К примеру, если в подвальном помещении дома есть вода, то в этом месте будут комары, ну или рядом есть пруд в каком-нибудь парке. Климат тут не причём
Тут скорее повезло, что по весне ваш подвал залило кипятком и все яйца комариные сварило 😂

А теперь почти не осталось никого из туристов, бояться ездить по-видимому, пропаганда работает, русские злые стали :(

Kazan Cathedral is named after (and dedicated to) The Kazan Icon of Mother of God (one of the most admired miraculous icons for russian orthodox) which appeared in 1579 in Kazan city.

By the way Russia has the [little] subtropical area around Sochi (the Winter Olympics 2014 city) as well and more - dry and hot (40°C in summer; but very cold in winter 🙈) zone on the Low Volga River territory (Volgograd Region, Astrakhan Region and Kalmykiya Republic).
But much time of year most part of Russia is not so weather-friendly as Saint Petersburg and Moscow on the Sly's video, that's true 🙂 (On autumn-winter period, I mean 🤓)

SPB is built in the river delta, literally on top of marshlands, humidity is high, so mosquitos are always around. But those are blood-sucking mosquitos, and "big mosquito" you're referring to is probably a crane fly which is actually don't bite humans.

I really love Moscow but my heart also belongs to Petersburg. My favorite spot there is Strelka of the Vassilyevsky island, it's between the Rostral Columns on the edje of the island. When you sit there on the warm stones and the waves of the Neva river are flippins your toes and the see the beautifel views of the city... it's magnificent! I believe there lives the true soul of Petersburg.
I also want to thank and send my love to all of you guys around the world for your kind words. For the last years I've been thinking that everybody hate us. It's nice that you visited the city where I live, I hope you enjoyed everything. :) Russia is very different, try to go to Kazan [the city of Tatars], Grozny [the city of Nokhchiy] and Derbent [the most ancient city of Dagestanis]. You'd be surprised how different and multinational Russia is. If you have the opportunity, visit Vladivostok and Irkutsk [this is the nearest city to Lake Baikal]. I'm sure you appreciated the activity on your channel, the Russians are very happy to have foreign guests!!!
Hello Sly! I highly recommended following route: from a metro station Begovaya to the 300th century park and walking through the park to Yakhteniy bridge, it's way to Zenit stadium. In the middle of the bridge you can see amazing views, trust me). So, from the stadium you can go to the Victory's park, some part of this park is a amusement park. I guess whole route get mm 3-4km, you don't regret).
Honestly? I didnt love that park that much as a tourist, it was cool, but nothing really much happening and you could tell that area was less off than the rest of the city. Id say if he's got time sure go there one morning and check it out, but otherwise id tell him to go see the other things available, as there's ALOT to see but not too much time ie his visa ):

Also!!! Булочные Вольчека (Volchek's pastries) are very cheap and tasty, and have a lot of local pastry. It's really easy to get fat with them! I usually take pastries there in a bulk when I go back to Moscow!

There are so many amazing places worth visiting in Saint Petersburg but here’s just a few to get you started.
1. Terassa (lunch) especially when it’s a warm day. Sit out on the deck and soak it all in.
2. Singer House (famous building on Nevsky Prospekt) there’s a cute little cafe on 1st or 2nd floor overlooking Kazan Cathedral. Awesome for breakfast or brunch
3. Eliseev - experience a breakfast here. Very impressive interior and confectionary.
4. There’s a very interesting restaurant in Ulitsa Marata, just before Hotel Martin. It has a pink and white door called “My Zhe Na Ty”
5. Have to do drinks at most bars in Rubinstein Road.
6. Go to the rooftop of Saint Isaac’s Cathedral (if you’re experiencing white nights) go around midnight and wait for the palace bridge to open up.
7. On another night, experience the opening of the palace bridge with the rest of the crowd gathered outside the Hermitage Museum.
8. Lastly but a big must. You have to visit The Winter Palace, Summer Palace and Per Hof. Please visit all 3, you won’t be sorry.
The bells were beautify played! I wanted to go to “Leningrad” when I was a teen. It was the only place we were allowed to travel, as Americans, in the 80’s. When I travel, I always have a fresh relaxer, so I don’t pay any attention to sweat or rain! 😁

Что-то дорогой обед в полуподвале...ничего не имею против едального заведенья кроме цены, я просто разбираюсь в ценах. Цена этому обеду максимум 1.8р максимум! Но как так! 38$?! Не нужно заходить в такие заведения на центральных улицах
согласен, не лучшее заведение выбрал, есть намного лучше и по приемлемым ценам, там еда не какая то особенная
Доя туристических целей без понятия, попробовать русскую и традиционно питерскую прям недорого даже не знаю где. А просто поесть хорошо- в Питере столовые развиты в миллион раз лучше чем тут в Москве. Очень дешево и очень сытно.

Not trying to offend you, but gastronomic capital is Moscow (9 places were given Michelin stars there). Saint Peterburg is a cultural capital (although there are quite a lot of places that are indeed good if we're talking about food).
Firstly Saint-P. is about architecture, history, cathedrals. Be patient))) and secondly the capital of drinking and partying)
1. Visit the Peter and Paul Fortress, there is the tomb of Russian monarchs inside
2. Petergof (palace/park/fontains)
3. Avtovo metro station (crystal columns)
4. New Holland is a space for people to relax
5. Dumskaya and Rubinstein streets at night, bar streets
There are no more pubs on Dumskaya anymore. They were relocated elsewhere across the centre
You should have gone in to Hermitage, i'm not into museums but that one is spectacular, was there in 2014. Thanks for the video, brought back lots of wonderful memories
