i would like to ask you if you can help me get an answer on my question why when i lay on my back in a relaxing pose Savasana and deep breathing, i feel even more anxious and i feel unstable after i stand on my feet.. what could possible be the problem? I'm practicing yoga because i have panic ataks
Hi! I don't feel qualified to answer that question because I'm not familiar with your medical history. I recommend talking to a doctor or naturopath about the problem.
thanks a lot caren , been going through a lot of stress and anxiety since past two month and since i have started following this video it really helped a lot . been practicing the exercises for a month now there has been a lot of changes since then . practicing on my breathing exercise 3 times a day .
with any abnormal experience, it is always wise to make sure you are up to date on your medical check ups. Nightmares can just be nightmares, but they can also be related to medical problems. Bad digestion, blood sugar issues, blood pressure issues. Always best to check up and make sure there are no underlying medical conditions.
I need help: I'm in school and ever since last year I had an anxiety disorder that had me homeschooled most of last year. I'm back in school this year but anxiety still bothers me. I'm too aware of my breathing, I make sure I'm breathing way too often. How do I stop this? I just want to know and understand that I am breathing, because I clearly am.
Hi Steven, maybe it will help you to focus on your exhalations. Try to exhale through pursed lips, like you are blowing up a balloon. This will make your exhalations longer and trigger a parasympathetic response, or in other words relax your nervous system and reduce anxiety.
Yoga to Fix your Life interesting, thanks. I've tried this before but since my anxiety only makes me focus on the negative at the time, I feel like doing that is still wrong. But I'll try it out right now.
+Steven Hi Steven, I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with anxiety. It sounds like you are too aware of your breathing. Have you tried focusing on another place in your body when you get anxious? For example, on your fingertips?
Hi Steven, yoga and meditation provide an anchor to deal with anxiety, but some people need more than that. If your anxiety persists despite yoga and meditation practice, see a healthcare professional (your GP and/or a psychologist). Maybe you need therapy. Make sure you get the right help if your anxiety persists and don't be ashamed to seek help, especially as a boy. Boys tend to seek help less as they are taught to be tough in many cultures, but this makes them the victim of mental disorders more often than necessary. Seeking help for mental problems is not a sign of weakness, it's a sign of strength and courage. Last, you're not alone. Many people suffer from anxiety. Don't let it linger. Good luck!
Good thing I came to this video I been having Anxiety for about 7 months there were times especially when I didn't know what I had, until I went to the doctor and he told me what it was..I would have trouble breathing and now with this video and the exercises I will be doing multiple times a day ...thank you for the steps so I won't panic anymore.
Have anxiety where I feel like I can't breathe. I convince myself I'm going to stop breathing. Usually breathing exercises make me feel more anxious. The first 2 helped me so much! Thank you!
+Edvin Löf I also have it right before I go to sleep. I don't really mouth breathe as much during the day so I think I get short of breath falling asleep because I'm trying to still breathe out of my nose which is harder for me while laying down. I saw a nose throat and ear doctor who said my nasal folds (think that's what they are called they're in the back of your nose) are large which makes it difficult for me to breathe out of my nose. I also have bad allergies. I would see a nose throat and ear specialist they can tell you what's going on. I know it's scary feeling like you aren't getting good breaths. I still get anxiety over it at times.
Hey Caren, really glad I found your video. I've had anxiety for the past 4 years. Managed to overcome it within the mind however I've noticed my breathing is still extremely shallow and pretty much every night I'll wake up from a panic attack. This video really helped me work on my physical side of my health :)

I have anxiety attack 24/7. Not kidding. I can´t breathe and it´s purely psychosomatic. I feel strong pressure under my sternum. I feel pressure on my ribs and stomach, whole torso. It´s like something is crushing my ribs and with it crushing my lungs. Even slow walking is huge problem. And don´t get me start on staircases. Cause is my work. I am over stressed.
This is great I've did it at work while working and although it's not the ideal place or environment to do it I really felt more relaxed and light. But then my co-worker wouldn't shut up and it pissed me off :) I'll definitely will do it at home. Thank you

For the first one (elongate your exhales), do we exhale through our mouth or nose?
+jyn88 I suggest exhaling through nose mostly, but one or two exhales through your mouth can be calming.
Thanks for replying!
Thank you so much for this. I've been struggling with anxiety and panick attacks all day, but this actually helped. I feel calm now :)
