If you want to make the popcorn in advance, I would keep it in an airtight container until the day before, then transfer to the favor bags. The popcorn can lose its crunch fairly quickly if not in a good container!

I think you'd be ok adding a pinch or two of salt! Or if you're worried about what it will do to the candy coating, you could sprinkle the popcorn with some finishing salt before it dries.

It will start to get a little stale after about 5 days, even in an airtight container. Better enjoyed fresh!
