    I really appreciated how you explained the future of this tree, step by step, root ball to graft usage to parent foliage removal.

      Thank you Kale! I intend to capture the tree's story, from grafting to finished tree in 8- 10 years. I think it will be quite interesting! Have a great Sunday!

      I'm also very glad boars aren't an issue here. Squirrels, chipmunks, skunks yes. Surviving a boar attack when Robert Baratheon could not surely is a fantastic story.

    That's one of the best stories I've even heard about a bonsai and its journey. You have an impressive success-rate with your pine grafts. Enjoyable video. Thank you for sharing.

      This is about the best comment I could read! Tha k yoh Susan! Getting better and higher success rates every year, but thunbergii onto nigra is relatively easy as these two are quite compatible.

    🤣 The ending Fotis, really liked the format and sharing the story. Part of the beauty of Bonsai clubs too I guess when people share the interesting stories of the tree itself or how they got it, more of this please.

    Story Time! As I said last time this narration/story type videos are really elevating your videos. And these trees with there own story like falling from a bench or getting roughed up by wild boars leave their scars/traces on the trees like everchanging and evergrowing. And making these traces/scars a feature is really cool👍💪 Happy Growing

      Thank you Christian! I appreciate your input on the format! Imagine how nice it would be, to be able to follow the evolution of this tree 5 or 10 years in the future and be able to summarize back to this point. Cheers!

    Good to hear you talking on the video. I activated the CC ready to read and, surprise, you're telling the story. I recently bought an Austrian pine and a Mugo pine (this last one inspired by one of your videos), I removed about 70% of the nursery gallon and I was worried because pines are delicate, after this video I'm not scared about dealing with pines anymore. The end of the video was funny 🤣 "...created by a pig"

    • @ArkefthosBonsai
      @ArkefthosBonsai  4 місяці тому +1

      I wouldn't call pines delicate but yes, removing 70% of the root system can be fatal. It's the aftercare that matters most. For example, we have a few cloudy cool days and I keep this tree in the greenhouse with humidity above 90%, I mist the foliage many times a day and in 10 days I water with root activators. Plus, in most cases I prefer to repot in September. Still this tree might die, but it is important that it is squeezed into a small pot and now was a good time! Thank you for your kind words and I really appreciate that you liked the joke! Cheers!

    Very compliments my friend for your job on this beautiful and very strong austrian black pine! I think you did a great repotting and the winning move was the mycorrhiza....you could also use a solution based on group B vitamins in the first few days to further encourage rooting. This pine has so much potential!👏👏💪💪😉

    How is the tree today? I hope it has survived that root work. I don't think that I would have been that brave to bare-root an older pine like this.

    • @ArkefthosBonsai
      @ArkefthosBonsai  Місяць тому

      The tree is fine! Not all pine species have the same resilience. This trunk is Pinus nigra, they are just different, better in surviving! The thunbergii grafts which were further ahead in spring took a big hit from the root work and stopped growing for 2 months. By then the nigra buds had started a slow elongation. They now have needles popping up and they set new buds for next year which are looking very strong. It was in full sun up until yesterday when I moved it in half sun until September. I'm going to show the tree in the upcoming updates video. But this repotting is so necessary for a tree to become a bonsai. It's unavoidable. Cheers!
