- An improvisation in a Valerie Dore / Italo Disco style circa 1984.
Crumar Orchestrator: string machine
Roland SH-101: bass
Roland Juno-60: synth strings
Linn LinnDrum: drum machine
Reverb: built-in Roland M-10DX digital mixer
Delay on Linn claps: Boss DD-3 digital delay pedal
Wow! These are the sounds that dreams are made of. Congrats dude!
Those Fairlight and PPG Wave are there to cause even more stomach burn to the viewers right uh? right uh?
Well done...mission accomplished! Lol
haha, yeah I like how that PPG is just lying on the ground there like it's some redundant piece of kit ;)
Aaah, it's that simple....lovely. Thanks for your reply, and all the best!
Thanks,
Robbie
Another song of yours touched me...again! Thanks, mate!
The same here... this one, "Siluripedio" and "Italy, 1984" are all songs from Paolo I can listen all day to!
You captured the vibe perfectly. 👏 The Juno-60 part is awesome.
Good old Analog synths, cant beat em..much better than modern digital plastic crap !! nice Juno 60..
you know you've got too many synths when you see a PPG Wave just sittin' unused on the floor in the back of the room! ;-)
Not to mention the Didgeridoo standing on the wall on the right
@@ollecram8647 To be fair, the Didgeridoo is the ultimate synth and can only be used in special cases.
Great job Paolo! I love this tune. Take care, Sam.
Thank you, Sam!
Thank you, dude - the LinnDrum has separate outputs. Simply run the individual "claps" output through delay.
Dude -- a PPG Wave on the floor, Fairlight CMI on the left, and a Moog/Roland modular ... what a crappy setup. LOL! SO JEALOUS! :D _Very nice!!!_
:D :D :D :D
THE BEAUTY.
Beautyful....
Good Work !!!!!!!!!!
Lovely sounds
Absolute awesome!
Amazing as always, you're a master!
Absolutely beautiful!
Thanks.
complimenti! sul tuo canale trovo sempre dei capolavori di video :) sono fiero di essere iscritto al tuo canale :)
Super
Amo i sintetizzatori
@Accordeons6000 Merci beaucoup!
"How it's built one Italo" . That's why I like the 80's Italo (but not the 70's rock) -world of unique sounds and the opening for technological progress
oh my god its so beautiful ;)
Magic
Top party entertainment! Well done!
good old PG Wave 2.3 in the background
Love all your video's, real oldschool!
In this song, how did you get the delay on the claps only?
Thanks dude!
I owned a Juno-60 27 years ago.
a typical italo - disco from the 80's well done man ,try also to play some ( den harrow's ) song like ( tell me why ) very good videos
Nice work! I think a little reverb on the snare would add to the feeling - Good Luck.
I fuckin' love this
this is like sounds Valerie Dore The Night
Nice music. What kind of stand is that your boards are on?
Grande, come sempre!
P.S: Ma sono io o l'SH101 è solo sul canale stereo destro e l'HH della Linndrum solo sul sinistro?
Does anyone know what synth was used for the bassline on do they know its Christmas by band aid? I know its not related to this
I think they did use PWM (and they probably used it out-of-logic-control; it had just sounded ok so they utlized it) + heavy low-pass filter put on simple sound-and-silence ADSR sound.
I appreciate your work and I think your Juno-60 sound is just fabulous. :)
But I want to dig more into "The Night" bassline, which seems to be easy to fake, but is in real life hard to imitate. :)
Bello! Tastiere dappertutto, ma che posto è?!!!
STRINGS AT THE BEGINING ON THE CRUMAR CAN EAT FOR BREAKFAST EVERY KORG KRONOS STRINGS
the orchestrator must defintely have been the inspiration for the streifett they sound similar
Wow, is that a Fairlight in the back?
Mejor impossible directo al corazon
Este tipo es un PUTO GENIO/MAESTRO....un verdadero CRACK!!
hey can u please tell me what are the chords you are playing on the crumar orchestrator from 0:37 to 1:00? thanx, badass synths by the way i wish i had one.
How are you so damn good!!!????😬😳
Thank you for your music! Could you play Dream (P.Lion)?
Thank you, Francesco, yes, it's on the to-do list
@@SynthManiaDotCom Nice Job Paolo. Your track remember me Valerie Dore! For further inspirations I could suggest another instrumental version, in a playful italo style: lukemcqueen1986.bandcamp.com/track/futa-sight-instrumental
I thought they only used the Linndrum for claps on early Valerie Dore music. Wasn't the main drum sound a Simmons kit? BTW love the orchestrator. Wish I could find one that worked.
This is Valerie Dore style - style only, I wasn't going with the goal to replicate all the instruments exactly here (although I do have all those machines too), but just get to the feel and vibe. As per my previous comment to someone who asked a similar question, "this demo wasn't meant to be a perfect replica, but just inspired by Valerie Dore's sound I grew up with. When I'll have time, I'll do a better cover including more similar sounds."
I hear you. You definitely indeed got the early valerie dore vibe nailed down. Your performance here sounded like "the night" and "get closer" hybridized together.
The PPG is a good shoulder boy.
Is the SH101 the best for different italo basses ?
+sniff28 Well, best is relative to taste, but the SH-101 is certainly versatile for bass sounds. However, there are many synths that are also great for bass, a few examples, Minimoog, Pro One, Odyssey, OB-1, the Junos, etc. etc.
As Paolo says, I can confirm the Juno-60 is AWESOME for Italo bass! Just listen to the octave bass he plays in his song "siluripedio". He somehow managed to upload that song in an amazing quality: the actual bass played directly from the synth is not much different!
makes me wanna make some 80's muisc, but I gotta dust off my linndrum samples
Amazing piece. poor ppg-wave synth on the floor.
Are there any libraries of these synths for my akai s3000??
aaaaaahhhhhh
...just add Dora Carofiglio. :-)
very nice indeed, but to be honest - real studio version (Valerie Dore) sound more refine!!
This is a UA-cam demo done in five minutes
This is what Angels play in heaven
Thank you and yes, this demo wasn't meant to be a perfect replica, but just inspired by Valerie Dore's sound I grew up with. When I'll have time, I'll do a better cover including more similar sounds. Btw, if you're referring to "The Night"'s bass line, I'm not sure PWM is involved, rather, judging by the sound I think oscillator unison might have been used in the bass - but I'd need to listen to it closely with headphones to get a better idea - I'm just listening to a UA-cam video of that song
gotta love those linndrum claps!!!
This is really nice, but Valerie Dore's (early) bassline had a feature: it was a pulse-based sound and was changing the pulse width during time. So the bassline was getting from narrow pulse width to more width one on every 1/8 tact bit.
I can never get enough of the Nicolosi synth sound. I wish they made more songs in this style with Dora. Maybe you can get a Dora style singer and make some new songs.
Amazing!
Thank you! Cheers!
well done dude. the claps sound wicked
lovely electric dreams
Thank you - I think that was a basic OnStage x-stand
another great song.. loving it :D
Well...with its internal ensemble effect the Polysix can sound very similar to a string machine. But all that I could find on the internet was a comment on gearslutz from a Polysix user who only thinks (!) that the V.D. sound was probably made with a Polysix (at least he was "pretty sure"). The Orchestrator sounds so spot-on here that only a direct A/B comparison might bring us closer to the answer...so let's GET CLOSER! *lol*
I'm wondering if other Crumar string machines (like for example the Crumar Trilogy) can do the same layer of cellos and violins as well...ideally resulting in the same "Valerie Dore"-like sound of course. Does anyone know?
Hey, nice work you do! I'll be releasing soon my new album project with this style: "New Romantic | Romantic Dance".
Grazie! Ho avuto da fare nell'ultimo mese ma ricomincio con i video domani
Grande
oh my daze!
My idea of the perfect midlife crisis. A studio of amazing analog gear. Thank you synth mania - I’ve been following you for over 10 years.
My pleasure!

Man, you gotta do a Billy Idol "Eyes Without a Face" style jam ;0)
so this is how magic is done...
reminds me of being a kid...2 thuMbs waaay up!!!
Gorgeous!!! ^_^ Se ti servisse un chitarrista... ;) :D
Thank you
great tune!
Thanks!
