So glad you talked a bit about Dana. I hiked the AT, Colorado Trail and the Tetons in a Terraplane and, even fully loaded, it was the most comfortable pack I've ever worn. There's something about how he builds frames, yokes and hip belts that make those packs fit like a second skin.
Thanks for checking out the vid! I honestly forgot I mentioned Dana until now, glad I did. Quite the legend! The Terraplane looks like an awesome pack…that 83L is no joke! I bet that was a beautiful experience :)
Nice!! That Scree looks awesome, I like the zipper style and the daisy chain capabilities. Honestly 30 for me has been the absolute perfect day pack capacity so no doubt 32 will be super sweet. Hopefully this upgrade works out really good for you :)
Awesome review man. Super in-depth. You've sold me on the 30. I originally ordered the 20 but after packing it out I realized the 30 makes much more sense for me. Plus, this colorway is sweet😎
Awesome! This is a pretty sweet day pack for sure, I’ve used it a ton since I picked it up. Totally agree, the 20 would be just a wee bit too tight especially if you need to carry more water. And this color rocks! It’s a fresh departure from the lime green and faded safety cone orange out there…
Good review of the coulee 30! I just ordered the scree 32 I think the coulee line is the replacement to the scree I like that this one looks more simple on the outside it will probably fit in better in a city environment but I thought the scree would give me just a little added flexibility for carrying more gear should the need arise. Although I do really like the exterior front pockets on this one as well. Great review.
Hey thanks for checking out the video ! Do you have any larger Mystery Ranch backpacks ? I’ve been curious to try something in the 55-60 range. Scree looks like an awesome pack, the daisy webbing really adds to some versatility, and you have more inner pocket options. Definitely can see how the coulee is a more simplified version that may not have all the options someone would need for taking the pack a little further. Looks like the scree has a more water resistant zipper? Anyways thanks for checking it out, you’re a trooper for making it through that vid haha. Happy new years
@@zacmagers Not yet this is my first one. I have an Osprey Kestrel 48 which I love, it carries larger loads pretty easily. I usually pack pretty light just for day hiking but I use the larger 48 liter Osprey for doing bushcraft type things when I carry more gear like saws and things. The largest pack I have is an REI Flash 65, it's a bit too large so I hardly ever use it anymore but it's one of the most comfortable packs I own. I just have no desire to fill up a backpack that large lol. Depending on what you're doing, I find that even a weekend backpacking trip 48 liter size is plenty if you pack very minimally I find I usually need a lot less stuff than we think we do. The hard part is finding gear that compresses down small, sleeping bag is the bulkiest item I have. How long do you plan on going out for with a larger pack?
Oh the REI Flash was a pretty big home run pack for them! Solid choice. Well you certainly are able to keep your weight in check by limiting the physical space to over pack with items you may not need or use. As long as you have what you need to be safe and warm, that’s all YOU need. Btw, you have an amazing channel! I know it’s hard to keep ideas flowing and the editing, keep on going man you have an awesome approach on the niche and I’m sure a lot of new home owners need the help:)
@@zacmagers Thanks man, appreciate the kind words! It's tough to keep fresh content flowing these days especially with a lot of life things changing lately. You got a new sub from me, I always like supporting the smaller channels, they need it! Happy new year to you!
@DIYDad1 Well I greatly appreciate the support, I’ve subscribed to your channel as well, I’ll be a home owner someday and I’ll need advice! It’s been a crazy couple of last years, do what you gotta do and move at the pace that works for you, keep on rocking. Be well :)
Thank you! I can’t bring myself to watch these early on reviews…I was still adjusting to talking to a camera but really loved the gear I was discussing. Thanks for checking out the vid!
Thanks for checking it out! Glad you enjoyed :) Well, I’m a very new backpacker so unfortunately I haven’t been lucky enough to explore various backpacking styles and brands in the 40/50 L class. I hope to accomplish more backpack recommendations and testing as I gain experience next year. For Mystery Ranch, I’ve been playing with the 30L coolee and it’s been amazing…amazing enough to where I may consider shaving weight somewhere to accommodate something like the Bridger 55 or 65. From a specification view, the Bridger looks like it has a killer shoulder strap system ( one of many curious features ) and I’m really anxious to try that pack out, think that may be my next pack…
@@zacmagers awesome! Thanks for the reply! If you ever try out the Bridger I will definitely watch it! Any other hiking bags you would recommend not from Mystery?
It’s for sure on the future list, I hope to review a lot of there bags. So far all I’ve done is the Coolee 30 ( this is my day hike / camera bag ) and it’s the bees knees so far. Nothing bad to report so far
Thanks for sharing that, I may have been a little careless to say “ modern phones “ won’t fit, probably should have been more specific about my iphone 14 pro max and similar sizes. It’s a tight squeeze. But there’s plenty of regular size modern phones that do indeed fit. Just buy huge bricks like mine! Thanks for checking out the vid :) Hope you enjoyed

I decided to buy the scree32 for my daypack/go bag when I upgraded from Walmart packs.
