So fun exploring a new place! You'll soon get used to getting around and will feel like that "big fish" again. My husband and I moved from California to Washington state when we were 50 and 57. I had been wanting to move for such a long time and finally there we were. We've been here 20 years now...7 years ago we moved to another city (very small) and are enjoying our time here so much more! Enjoy yourself, Joel...new life, new place, new chances!!

Another Washingtonian here - We live west of Longview on a hill overlooking the Columbia River with a lovely view of the ships passing by. We love the PNW weather so these soft rains, unlike California's violent storms, do not bother us.
I’m never going to stop mentioning how I’ve stayed in Leeds and what a fun city it is. The green spaces, the lovely homes and of course, the very nice people.
Joel, I don’t surprise you got scouted. You are handsome man with fit body, definitely a photogenic.
I’ve said it before, on your channel with Lea, you’ve given me a new place to explore when next I go to the England. Thanks for that little peek at Leeds.
I worked at the side of The Corn Exchange building for many years. Keep trying the food and tell them if it wasn't nice, I'm sure they would improve and appreciate the feedback. I was at Guiseley, the theatre just before Christmas to see a new musical called "Somewhere.'" 🎭. Written by Sarah Bishop from Yorkshire with music by Leeds own group "The Dunwells". I love their music. I adore Penhaligons too. Put some of their fragrance on and strut your stuff on the catwalk! Take every opportunity, I think you and your beau together would be a great modelling combo! You must visit The Royal Armouries too, worth a visit. Maybe summer when you can check if they still do the jousting, you might get able to take part for a fun, different day out.
I just think that your new "domestic" life is such a good fit! So happy for you. Thanks for the little view of Leeds. Take us on some more tours of the area all around
You're very photogenic so I'm not surprised you were spotted that quickly. Maybe, London being as big didn't allow you to shine as bright. Love the video of the city by the way!

Joel, I’m not familiar with London but Leeds looks like a very nice city. Allow yourself to get comfortable in your environment and surroundings, adjustment is hard for most people, I’m sure you’ll learn to love living there. ❤🇺🇸
When I did my biggest move, it was from an extremely rural town surrounded by the cold ocean and redwood forest, to downtown Seattle, it was very difficult at first for me to adjust. Instead of redwoods, my apartment building was nestled between skyscrapers. But Seattle was so cool, because there were bald eagles (for real!!) nesting in neighborhood trees. It was a culture shock for sure. But so so exciting! I'm so glad you're experiencing something so new for you. And living with your boyfriend. And being a new person in Keegan's kids' everyday lives. Glad you're vlogging the experience for yourself to look back on.

So nice to see you starting to settle in to your new area. All of your moving vids have brought back so many memories of big moves I’ve done and having to re-adjust to a new place. I always have that shy, little fish feeling at first. Definitely enjoying these frequent videos as you settle in!

We are looking to move from New Zealand to Leeds.. would love your thoughts on cost of living, food, good place to get dairy free/vegan yum yum cakes and AWESOME latte as a coffee snob! I'm currently living in Germany, but from Yorkshire. I grew up an hour from leeds and only went there for shopping, gigs (even when I lived in nearer Leeds). Try Harrogate, Skipton and York.
'West is best' for me, all the way North to South in UK, but I read Leeds has a Harvey Nik's and decent nightlife, plus Betty's fab cakes so I hope you will make a go of it. As a dyed in the wool London gym bunny, Joel, I imagine it will be a wrench but I wish you all the best. Life is full of changes you never planned or ever expected!

Love the videos Joel. Found you recently on here. It reminds me when I left London in 2000 to live with my partner in rural Oxfordshire. He had a house there and I had a flat in London (which I kept) I was anxious at first but eventually we spent 13 years in south Oxfordshire before moving in 2013 to our olive grove finca in Andalucia. I am like you about change but it is nice having the complete changes at different stages of your life. Good luck lovely xx Frank

A key thing for me in any place I look at living in is closet space. It's always nice to walk/drive around a new neighborhood after you move in.
Your video yesterday made me giggle when you were talking about Ava loving her tennis ball. I bought a Cocker Spaniel in July after researching the breed and stumbling onto your videos of Ava. I named her Orlagh and she has been the most amazing addition to our family. Anyway she is Obsessed, OBSESSED with balls. So I just had a little giggle at the similarities.

How would you say Leeds' economy looks like it is doing? It seems to be a thriving little city. It never ceases to amaze me to see how many people live and work in places that I've never given any real thought to (and conversely to see well known, famous cities with empty houses and boarded up businesses.) Wherever you go, I always appreciate seeing new places through your eyes. The most ordinary everyday things look so different! One day maybe video cameras will feature 360º shots so we can turn the focus to look around while you walk! (Oof! Imagine how much more editing there would be! But maybe AI will have an auto blur.) 🙈😎

Hi Joel! I er hope you will be very happy in your new life. You and Keegan are so nice and I'm sure you belong together. I live in Newcastle and my daughter lives in an apartment in central Leeds. There's lots going on in Leeds on the restaurant front and of course the bastions of civilisation - John Lewis and Harvey Nichols. It will take you time to settle in but once you have sorted your stuff out you will feel as if you have been there for ages! Yiou are very nice looking so I'm not surprised you were approached to be a model!

You should consider being a tour guide if only for the weekends in London. It would give you the chance to make extra money for people coming to London for the first time as well as keeping in touch with old friends in London.

It was so nice seeing you feeling more optimistic and inquisitive in your new surrounds! Even though your first solo outing in Leeds didn't seem to "wow" you, it still was important to start learning how to live in Yorkshire. You'll no doubt find some great places to grab an Americano (and probably a cake or cookie 😘) and get some work done. Maybe your cousin will have found a great place!

Re. The scouts: Did you get one of their names, where are their offices, their phone # , e-mail? If they contact you, be careful of the info you give to them. They are probably legit, but if you get scam vibes, be careful.
BTW, I don't know about over there, but modeling agencies often also handle commercial acting. 😃

Hi Joel~ I'm so glad that you got those moles removed! I put one of mine "off" and it turned into melanoma. Leeds looks like such a cool place with those beautiful buildings! I looked up the population of Leeds. Seattle and Leeds are about the same size. I live in a small suburb about 45 miles north of Seattle. Take care!

Maybe the model scout can get you some connections to acting. You seem happier and more excited about the situation now, maybe you are just getting used to your new home. Where he is living alot of people who are utubers only mention the general area they live for privacy reasons and by putting out his location you could put him in danger. Alot of people are against someone who is LGBTQ community and try to harm them. Joel also has to worry about Keegan and his kids safety as well. Utubers have had people stalkers and people threatening them. Would you want a bunch of strangers showing up at your door? I think not. I think that it is best to keep his location private. For his own safety.
@@Iamjames1985 Lucy was moving in with her boyfriend within a few days, so the house was going to be a rental property, and if he put the information out there it's his choice, Noone else has the right to share OTHER people's personal information. It's about consent and choice. How about I put YOUR name, address and phone number and email address information in this platform would that help you or bring you some people who are not so nice. Would that put the security of your family members at risk?

Being completely honest, the second I heard “Leeds” I was instantly hit with a pipe dream of you and Keegan collaborating with my other favorite British UA-camrs, Ash Watson, Nike Wilson & crew, also of Leeds.
Welcome to Yorkshire!! You should have a visit to Chapel Allerton, it’s only 10 minutes from Leeds city centre and it has tons of quirky shops and bars, there’s a cheesemongers, fishmongers, fruit & veg shop, a old fashioned sweet shop, book shop, great gift shops with unique items to mention just a few. Plus there are lots of independent coffee shops with some yummy cakes and goodies to tempt you in.
It's so funny how small the youtube community is! I started watching you when I was moving from the U.S. to Europe. You watch the Chateau Diaries (which my husband appears on sometimes) and we both watch Shane and Ryland and their various channels. Best of luck with the move - I can relate with the feeling of "guilt". Over time it fades, but there are still some tough times. xx

Hi Joel. Please comment on the linguistic use by the English of the “Intrusive R”. For example: Lia becomes “Leer”. Pizza becomes “Peetzer”. Ava becomes “Aver”. To the American ear it sounds funny and wrong. I’m a big fan ❤
So glad your settling in to your new home / city. A big move is stressful but you seem to handling it fairly well . I'm getting ready to buy my first house in a much smaller town of 14,500 people compared to one of 150,000+ , luckily I grew up in the area and will be closer to my family !!

There’s a nice little cafe called Olive and Rye in the centre I think, it’s in one of the arcades. Good coffee! Also Farsley is really cute and some parts of north Leeds too - Roundhay park is lovely for a walk

Model scouts look for people to take classes and pay for them. It's a business. You will pay for classes and really not get any good gigs, save commercials if you're lucky. Plus, you shouldn't give your personal information to a random person. I'm surprised Joel, but I will eat crow if I'm wrong.

Your mole removal reminded me of the two that I had removed on my back, in the 80s. Back then, I just got a numbing shot and then some... I was going to say dissolvable stitches, but I recall having to go back to the doctor to have the stitches removed and a check up. However, all went well. I can't imagine getting them lasered off. Perhaps it's a better way to go? You'll have to let me know if there's any scaring afterwards. The way I had it done, left me with two little scars.
My favorite part of your videos, is when you're driving... I don't know why, but it's cool watching your surrounding, as you're driving!!! Have a blessed day! Cheers!
LOL!!! My son laughed at me once, cause I said "cheers" to an employee once at a drive through, here in America. I couldn't help myself. He was speaking with an English accent. I felt it was appropriate. Wot do you think!?!? LOL... That's another thing you'll hear me say from time-to-time, is "wot"... And I don't even know why it happens. One time while I was working at a bank, I was speaking to someone and he asked me to repeat what I said. He told me I sounded British the first time I said it. I just laughed, 'cause I'm a total Yank. However, since I speak 7 languages, it's messed with my speech, that people say they here an accent when I talk and their immediate responses is, Where are you from!? Their spouse is like, "don't tell him." I'm like, "here, there, and everywhere." I kind of grew up a military brat. Meaning that my dad was in the service, before I was born. That mentality of moving from place to place was a constant thing, even though he already got out of the military. He would tell us that he wanted his boys to explore the world and be geographically educated. Probably why I decided to get my degree in Travel and Tourism.
