  • This video shares 3 specific examples of how to break large tasks into smaller parts. Use the ideas and the main concept behind task breakdown to apply to your projects and tasks.
    What major tasks and projects do you have coming up that you can use help breaking down into smaller parts? Many times, people put things off until later or procrastinate because tasks and projects are way too daunting for them to even begin! Think about what the specific things are that need to be done to bring the whole project together at the end. Do things need to be done in sequence? What are they? You can give yourself deadlines for finishing each specific part of the project or task so you don’t fall behind. Hold yourself accountable for meeting each deadline you set. Writing steps is key! Larger tasks and projects need to be written down to prioritize effectively and plan accordingly. Use the backward planning technique and your imagination. See the “end result” first, then plan backward from there to present moment. In your mind imagine the END PRODUCT or END RESULTS. Then, write the specific things that need to be done to get you to that point. Do not rely on your memory for everything. You WILL forget fine details. You have to get in the habit of writing things down.
