When shops make mistakes by not listening to me or RTFM reading the manual or book or literature that came with a compressor inside the box sometimes all the information is written outside on the box but technicians do not read
So I get to experiment they become my lab guinea pigs lab rats and I make them remove things and I start measuring and testing to increase my knowledge and learn from their mistakes on their dollars $$$
Because I get paid to redo their work when they don’t listen to me or follow instructions.
I have many wild and bizarre stories about shops over the decades I have worked with that would burn up many customers compressors.
I literally had one very large high volume general automotive mechanical shop told me it was OK if they burned up compresses because they just turned them back in under warranty and get new ones.
I got to do a lot of fun experiments they were tell me to do things and I would listen to them knowing it would burn up the compressor.

It’s a four seasons issue, I’m on a second compressor in one year in a 2012 GMC truck, first one lasted 10 months before it started sending metal into the system, got a new one under warranty and the new one is just as noisy as the original, procedures were followed to the T! I’m going back to factory the GM compressor that lasted 175k

@@craigd5169 after you replace your accumulator, replace your compressor replace your condenser replace replace any refrigerant lines that have a muffler on it
Replace your orifice tube I don’t remember if your truck has a expansion valve
Flush evaporator out with flushing solvent
Just leave it on your vacuum pump overnight you can vacuum all you can do is dry your system out better .
Make sure you have the correct amount in the system
Get a cycling clutch switch don’t use the old one

I consider any oil in a replacement automotive compressor to be shipping oil, thus I drain the compressor and add my own known quantity and type to balance.

The next video on this replacement compressor with a new AC Delco Delphi is uploading right now
He did not read the instructions again and just threw the new compressor on
Now guess what he has to do

@@coldfinger459sub0 Remove and drain Delco compressor. Hopefully the knocking compressor has just a few ounces of oil inside, no more.

So did you have to replace the compressor or recharging the oil solved the knocking problem?

This was the shop owners personal vehicle, his wife’s daily driver.
After pulling off the compressor and pouring out all the oil, it had the correct amount of oil inside of it. It wasn’t over oil that wasn’t under oiled. The whole entire system was flushed. . All, New, Parts.. there were several videos done on this at different times
      From the time of first
To the time of Recharge, and then coming back to take care of this noise
And then I think a month or a couple months later can’t remember he put in the new compressor and I took care of the problem . He did not get the 4 SEASONS compressor. I got a different manufacture.

I will add that when you buy compressor, it doesn't come with a manual. I bought my denso compressor from autozone and no manual or instructions were not provided. I've bought an evaporator from the dealer, and still no instructions were provided with the part. So the diyer is left blind on how much oil you need to put back in or left at the mercy of Google to get the right information.
Unless someone pays $200 a month for the ALLDATA, repair manual, everyone is left without knowing what needs to happen an how much oil needs to go back in or replaced when changing out ac parts.
This is my biggest frustration with dealers and auto parts is they don't provide you with instructions or procedures for oil balancing.

Somebody stole the instructions out of your DENSO box 📦
I think as far as I can remember every DENSO box I have ever seen in the last 30+ years came with very good instructions
I even did one or two videos opening up a dental box and one of them showing how many languages that instructions were in and how clear and detailed they were
Dealer does not need to waste money putting instructions in their boxes because supposedly the parts are sold to people who know what they were doing that is the way they look at that
And if the person doesn’t know what they do and they break it that’s their problem for not knowing.
And as far as the dealers concerned then they shouldn’t be buying the part in the first place and letting the dealer install it (correctly lol 😂 )
Because supposedly everybody learned this in high school auto shop for the four years they were in high school going to auto shop
Supposedly they learned this when the parts houses like Napa or others throw air conditioning seminars that are one day long or two days long classes all about air conditioning in their parts and procedures supposedly mechanics attend those ?
Supposedly people pay to fly themselves out to manufactures training classes at different locations around the country to attend the air conditioning classes (supposedly ?)
Supposedly if they’re really serious about air conditioning in this trade they fly out to the MACS expo for three or four days where the training seminars are put on by all the big parks manufactures and OEM vendors even the EPA shows up to tell you what the latest rules laws and regulations are ( supposedly ? )
But when you ask the automotive technicians who are installing these parts and things don’t work right or break.
Did you go to any classes or seminars or factory training for parts manufacture training ?.
And the look on your face is worth $1 million like a deer in the road with the headlights and eyes 🤣😂😅😭
There was a comment by somebody today answering one of my subscribers questions that you can get a one month subscription cannot remember now if it was all data or Mitchell but for $20 for your particular car you can access all the information on your car I don’t have to spend $200

What is the best way to get all the oil out of the old compressor? Sometimes a drain plug is there and it works well but if not, sometimes I turn the old compressor over and rotate the pulley to move the plate/pistons and hardly anything comes out. If I put the same amount in that I took out then I would be only adding like a half and ounce to the compressor. Is there a minimum about that should be in regardless? I’ve head that something like 75% of the oil should stay in the compressor but a lot of times I can’t get even 20% of the total oil amount out of an old compressor. Always worried that I have either too much or too little oil in the system

New compressors are much different than old compressors that had large sumps like an oil pan inside them that had a reserve of maybe 4 ounces or 6 ounces those days are mostly long gone.
If the system is allowed to run low on refrigerant charge in the first place, the majority of the system oil well I’ll be stuck up in the evaporator
This is why I usually you’re only getting a half ounce or almost nothing, but drops coming out of your old compressor
But yes, when you start it up and you know all the oil is stuck in the evaporator. You still should at least have an ounce in the compressor rotate it turn it around rotate it stand it on it shaft, seal, nose down, spin it several times let it rest for 20 or 30 minutes, so the oil can pour towards the lip of the Front Shasta, Seal, and lubricate it Before you install it and run it.
This is usually why are you seeing my videos? Even if I know I have a system that only has three or 4 ounces in it and it’s really really low.
To do a full complete test. I will fill the entire system to factory charge and operate it for about 10 or 15 minutes under heavy load, doors and windows, open fresh air, high speed fan.
And then I will properly recover the refrigerant to the lowside slowly in this manner, I know all the oil has been washed out and picked up out of the Evaporator and distributed correctly throughout the whole entire system, including the compressor .
If I did not, and I was replacing the compressor when I turn it upside down to drain the oil, they will be almost nothing inside the compressor .
You always have to read the shop manual for procedures and quantities. There is no guessing. .
