      You Do a PCR which is a standard lab procedure to amplify DNA. The trick is that the DNA polymerase needs a fragment of DNA to start, which are called primers. These primers can be designed so that they specifically bind to a part of DNA that is exclusive to turtles. That way only your DNA of interest gets amplified.

      Kinda hard to look for sasquatch eDNA if you don't know what sasquatch dna looks like.

    • @Kazurhix
      @Kazurhix 5 років тому +2

      @@utahnl well, I would assume since the most common area Sasquatch "sightings" take place in are in Alpine forests in northwestern North America, & it's presumed to be some kind of great ape, scientists could just look for ape-like eDNA that isn't human.

    • @joeelliott2157
      @joeelliott2157 Рік тому +1

      Lord Kazurhix is right. If Sasquatch exists, and they found it's DNA, it would stand out. It would be immediately identified as an unknown hominid. It might return a result of: [ Unknown Hominid - Most closely related to Humans - Last Common Ancestor: 5 million years ago ]. Or maybe [ Unknown Hominid - Most closely related to Orangutans - Last Common Ancestor: 10 million years ago ]. It won't tell you how tall or big the animal is, or if it walked upright, but you would know there is (or was, since eDNA may last a long time) an unknown specie of Ape in the area.
      The lack of any such evidence is a VERY strong indicator that Sasquatch does not exist. Unless one accepts the supernatural. If Sasquatch is some sort of Shapeshifter 'Wizard' then I suppose it's DNA might be undistinguishable from human, it would be the DNA of the 'Wizard'.

Logically, if evolution were to perfect a creature whose primary skill were to hide from view, how could you know it existed? It could be with us every second and we would never know.
