"Cradle of Love" is a rock song written by Billy Idol and David Werner for Idol's 1990 fourth studio album Charmed Life. The song is the album's sixth track, and was released as its first single. The song became one of Idol's biggest hits in the United States, where it reached nº2 on the Billboard Hot 100, but stalled at nº34 in Idol's native UK. It was also Idol's first, and (so far) only nº1 hit on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in the U.S. The song was also featured on the soundtrack of The Adventures of Ford Fairlane. It was nominated for Rock Vocal Performance, Male at the 32nd Grammy Awards. It was well received by critics, and was frequently cited as a highlight of the album. Alvin and the Chipmunks covered this song as the opening track to their 1991 album The Chipmunks Rock the House. In 1992, "Weird Al" Yankovic included the chorus as the first song in his polka medley "Polka Your Eyes Out" from his album Off the Deep End.
Billy can still rock it, so many age and lose the star power, and Billy is still a Rock Star. Even playing without the full volume of the band....it’s called talent.

I was in my early twenties when Billy Idol stormed the charts and with his epic rock MTV episodes. At first I was put off by his name. But while thinking that on hearing him sing on the radio only I could tell he was a live wire. Just like another name turn-off of Johnny Cougar until I saw these guys perform on videos and tv promos I didn't truly appreciate them.
Billy Idol put his heart and soul into his music and singing. That's a rocket, the "real deal"!

I have seen Billy Idol and The Police in concert separately.. Sting is lame compared to Idol.
This version lacks the power and balls in the studio version. Unplugged SUCKS for this tune. Studio version = power screaming guitars, screaming howling Billy boy. This live version sounds like something on the Dick Clark show. thumbs down. Everyone, listen to the studio version off of the Charmed Life album. and play it LOUD!!!!
