For your camera man, you can promote him to admin in game, in the players tab. Hit esc when in game to get to it. From there you can make him invulnerable via admin tools. Admin tools can be opened via Alt+F10. And if you don't want the build and repairs welding up your plans, set their ignore color and use that color for planning and just paint over when ready to weld.
I'm pretty sure the reason why voxels aren't airtight is because airtightness isn't mesh-based in the game, but block based. Essentially, each face of a block has a tag that declares it as airtight or not, which probably significantly helps performance by simplifying the check a lot, but as a consequence since voxels aren't blocks they can't have that flag or fit into the grid properly to be detected even if they did.
I’m starting to think that you’ll need a smallish grinder pit at the bunker, so that you can simply push wrecks into a hole and you won’t have to spend so much time grinding them, especially as the wrecks get bigger Edit: Also I think the base can simply be called “Hidey Hole”
@@travispluid3603 that’s a good idea, since it would be able to get all the blocks while a grinder pit, with small grid blocks, sometimes can’t get all of them, maybe a combination? He paints it pink then chucks it in a pit, with the blocks the pit don’t grind can get be ground down anyways without him having to go into the pit itself
I was just about to make a comment about a grinder pit. @largelyunemployed you could even turn your current mining pit into a grinder pit and move the setup to get some fresh ore. Since it's circular you could make it look like a giant trash can that you shove dead Reavers into.
This is truly my favorite series on youtube. Nothing else can make me stop everything im doing like this series. (Psst: you can press P for more color options)
I don't know if someone already mentioned this, but since the Warfare updates added deflection to projectiles, having angles on your armour is actually viable! So your aesthetic turrets are well protected and looking good!
Idea for the airlock: Event Controller looking at the doors, so when they're opened, they can start a timer block that will automatically close the doors.
You could call it "Is belong to me" so the missing part is 'all your base' "nothing to see here" and "inconspicuous place" As all cleaners and polishes have 'test in an inconspicuous place' in the instructions, lastly "hollowed out volcano" As that is ALWAYS the best place to put a secret base.
This is genuinly only one of TWO series on youtube that i look forward to and get sad when the episode is over. Props to both YOU and MAGIC for making sucn a great series. I think the base should be named : The Ant Hill
Believe it or not this series got me back into space engineering. Currently trying to survive on a x4 gravity Helgan Its going... poorly so far, but its been a blast
What an incredible episode!! That space battle that went on with or without you was like watching a Star Wars movie! Okay, how does Fort Providence, or Providence Bastion, sound? Whatever you decide, it's going to be memorable! Love this series, and Magik is such a gifted editor; you're not so bad yourself (LOL).
Been a long time since I have found myself this excited for a UA-cam series in a while. I find myself checking my subscriptions specifically for new episodes several times a day. Also, Magics editing is absolutely hilarious, I had to pause after the absolute violation at 1:25 because I was laughing so hard. For you two to pump out this level of quality despite the challenges (looking at you power grid) is honestly impressive. Even the small details of creating and naming all the chapters don't go unnoticed. As for a base name, could always go with "The Lunar Reef" if you wanted to stick to aquatic-ish names since its a static location for all the ships to live/dock at.
As someone who started watching your videos when your Rimworld 100 day video came out, it's been absolutely crazy watching you jump from like, 3 thousand subscribers to 15 thousand over about 3 months. You guys definitely deserve it! The editing has been getting consistently better in a noticeable way over the series so far. The series itself has been incredibly entertaining, and got me into Space Engineers, I'm still struggling to figure everything out, but its been fun. Looking forward to seeing your channel continue to grow!
Use the mining hole to create a receded hanger for the SFFP and it also includes the nanogrinders. One you can get SFFP out of the way of your autocannons and two you can find and clamp any destroyed ships and tow them to the hanger and have the nanogrinders go at it. Unlock the sun after you add some lights. Base name suggestion: SLAB (super ludicrously armored building) End game goal - get the base to space? I can imagine the beautiful shot of this behemoth rising from the crater, armed and armored to the teeth.
thankyou for posting this stuff. its one of the only things keeping from a depressive stupor. just had to put my dog down and bury him. on friday and im not coping well with it, this is helping alot
I'm so, so sorry my friend. I've been there before and the pain can be difficult to explain. People seem to come up short on empathy when it's a pet. I hope it gets a little easier each day
Base name submission: The Shoal or The Reef. Something to keep with the aquatic theme and as a place where all the ships can come back and "rest" after a long voyage.
Re: airtight voxels. Air pressure was a feature added very late in SE's development, and it was shoehorned into the code for block grids. As such, the devs would have to code it from scratch if they wanted airtight voxels. Consider this for a series goal: a piracy hit list; make a list of ships that have scary sounding names, then try to conquer one of each of them in battle. Pros/cons: pro: well defined milestones offer satisfaction upon reaching them. Con: your ship is not fit for purpose.
I recommend calling your base the Aquarium. Since the last ship name was the Remora and those windows into rock walls remind me of indoor aquarium exhibits. I don't know much about Space Engineers, so i can't offer any advice there. Just loving the series and all the effort you two are putting into it And I agree the nanobot things are totally fine if they're just speeding up mundane tasks and not giving a hard gameplay advantage.
Can you keep doing the bit with the text screen goals? I feel like that’s a really good way for us as viewers to know what to expect and what to look forward to. Also, if you wanna for fun, look up the elite dangerous warp drives. Instead of jump drives hopping every 7 minutes, these drives throw you into like 40km/s and you can watch your travel :)
Airtightness is solved in space engineers by volume in the grid bounding box, each block can put up its own invisible walls that block leaks, and then the vacuum works its way inwards (or maybe is different algorithm) Voxel airtightness would require doing that calculation for the entire voxel network, or somehow translating voxels into blocks, and may have unintended or inconsistent consequences like a misplaced vent attempting to pressurize the entire moon.
Paused at 2 minutes because I see you have your drill out. You can BP your base, paste in creative, fill in the rest of the box and save, then project in your normal game save for B.A.R to finish up for you. I do this to pipe up defensive towers out in the fields away from my base. I have a tower BP that I published for sheets and giggies [Search for Strickk in the workshop] that I use all the time to build underground without disturbing the voxels. If you go this route for defenses just turn off the B.A.R and lay out the pipe you need on the ground without building it up. BP it then add to a projector.
The nanite system will grind enemy and not owned blocks with out repainting them, that is mainly for your own grids. You can even set a weld and grind priority based on block type, or even disable welding or grinding of certain types like armor ( SO much steel plate from a few large grid ships ). When you properly capture a ship that you want to grind down to parts you will need to set the ownership of all its clocks in the K menu to NOBODY.
sometimes, good youtubers just pop out of the ground and have massive success, becouse the videos are just fun to watch and youre one of them. (please tell the mushroom that he should consider eating more lettuce instead of peanuts)
A very nice series I have enjoyed so far and I am looking forward to seeing more. Following a few ideas. I am bad with words, so please take it as ideas and not as "YOU HAVE TO DO THIS" About the defense of your base, I might have a few suggestions: you have put all of your guns onto your production bunker, so a target when hit, it will surely destroy something important. It might be an idea to build a defense tower or two above the cliff of your habitat dome so it can defend against enemies engaging you from the other side of your base. Also, when enemies fire at distant towers, they are less likely to hit your habitation dome by mistake. Your main gun also seems t have a blind spot right above, so multiple towers might cover each other. It might also be an interesting design challenge to build a strip miner ship running your pit mine script, so a flyable platform you can put on top of deposits digging a huge hole, fill some containers and then dock on a landing platform at your base to unload. By requirements, it would have to be a ship larger than the SFFP as it would have to contain big containers, power stuff and maybe contain a few simple refineries to compact bulk stuff like rock and big volume ores down. It might also be an interesting challenge to build something to fold the mining arm in. For the nano repairs, I think they are fair for construction, but during battles, they offer a big advantage as they repair armor betting shot immediately, so a balance idea might be to turn them off for combat engagements. As for a base name, how about "Tranquility's Edge". Tranquility Base was the name of the Apollo 11 landing site. Edge can be read either as blade's edge, as on your strong reinforcements, or as the edge of the crater where you've set up your base.
If you plan to add more weapons, i would recommend assault weapons, it seems quite well balanced and also has a progression system, my only worry is that the npcs might randomly get one of the weapons at the end of the progression system anyways good work! Edit: base name idea, Fit for shelter
Also you could use the reinforced window mod so you can decorate with windows more, though it is quite restricted in the window sizes only 1x1 and 1x2 windows
Reavers don't have self-destruct warheads (to my knowledge at least.) What happened is that you ground the AI control block, and those explode violently when hacked. This is a feature of MES and is designed to stop you from doing exactly what you were trying to do.
well it has anti-air guns on top of it, so it got to be "Flakturm", like the German ww2 above ground bunker/towers, that were extremely expensive to build
A bit late to the party, but seriously funny and entertaining series! You got me back to playing Space Engineers with your mod collection! Well done on the editing! hi Magick Mod suggestion: *Block Picker* (CTRL+G to choose the block you're aiming at) Regarding Hacking/taking over ships/grids - from the mod you got - *Hostile Takeover*: Blocks that are Control, Medical, Weapon, and Trap - All these blocks need to be either disabled or destroyed to capture a grid. Once disabled or destroyed, the grid will disown itself
I loved the task manager list you had on the SFFP you should keep doing that to help keep this series going. Great editing and great content please keep going
Magic has a lot of patience with you, also i'm not apologising for questioning your airlock :P also to save some base power i'd hook up a sensor that turns the vents on and off when it detects you inside the airlock to save some power
"i can now do this" *proceeds to comit homicide and multiple bank robberies* Btw, call the base the raptor trap xD Ps: people who says you should weld everything by hand should try welding 1000 blocks which are layered without breaking any of them first
I hope everyone appreciates how much editing is doing for these videos. Don't get me wrong its not like he's polishing a turd (gameplay is very good) but makinga cohesive linear story without a lot of filler is an unsung gift
Absolutely! This was close on 6 hours of footage too. I earmark it for him, give some light direction, and try my best to stick to a particular theme, but the real narrative work each episode is done by Magick. We have a similar setup for the Rimworld vids. I record the gameplay en masse, he cuts it down to a rough narrative, then he sends it to me for scripting and narration where I iron out the kinks. It seems to work really well.
Consider this: the base can be as big as you want it to be as long as the large part is underground where nobody can shoot at it.... So basically you should Hollow out the entire moon.
May I suggest the design for a fighter ship (kind of ;) ) It should be large grid ship, put bunch of large cargo containers, large reactors, large ion thrusters, bunch of gyros etc, usual stuff for a ship to move. Then surround it with grinders in all directions, also put bunch of build repair systems (like 50 or 100, make sure to have power ofc.). also don't forget shields, pit backups as well. when you finish building it, the main purpose should be to fly around in any fight near ships and let the repair system do the work (it will grind the enemy ships down thru the shield while in range), and ofc, turn on grinders if happens to collide with any :D I play same scenario with all your mods and have built one, Works like a dream :D Just make sure to have enough power for thrust and build/repair system. Make it large and powerful enough to be normally maneuverable. I have install over 100 build and repair systems as well as over 20 large reactors and over 10 shields (1 main and rest is backup). Shields have more HP if you provide them with more power, so, more MW you provide then you have more HP on shield ;) And not forget some weapons (surround the ship with bunch of disco ball defenses and set it to target specifically small grids and missiles, as well as set them to Target FocusFire, Target SubSystems and Repeal Mode set to ON) Anyway, it is just an idea and a pretty much big project but it is you gameplay and you can decide lol Keep up great channel and content m8
@@LargelyUnemployed Cannibal Reaver :D Sometime my ship get damaged but it is only my driving skills lol I'm thinking to upgrade it with lots of H2 thrusters as well and maybe add more build/repairs and reactors lol I hope they won't get thru and blow up my H2 tanks lol
You should make the hangar in the mining pit. Like drill into the sides of it and build a hangar there. I know this sounds hard, but it also sounds very cool
With ricochet being a thing in SE now, the angled blocks are worth more than the stats would suggest, just incase anyone didnt know about the ricochet thing, bullets can now bounce off if they hit at an angle.
i propably wouldn't play space engineers if i didn't know about those nano bots.. and i know about them thanks to you! tried playing the game after buying it but all the stuff involved in building seem very tedious. it feels like i have to click so many times just to create a solar panel, but knowing those steps can be automated helps a lot.
After your drill drills out a nice deep hole, build solid conveyor straight down and set up the pistons so that it mines into the side. (I assume that it will work the same as long as nothing is changed besides the orientation.) Then you can have an underground hanger big enough for your ship to sit in when you come back to base.
Maybe, its a little bit late, but you could place hangar doors over your top windows. In case of an attack you could close those to be more secure, it also could look nice
You could double up the windows at the bunker to make them a bit less weak and keep your industry safer. Works best for flat windows, as you can turn and build them right on top of each other. Although the bunker looks cool, I was confused at first when you started building into the side of the crater and then stopped and built all the important stuff out in the open... Would have made more sense to me to keep building deeper into the rock, to keep it safe. That said, it might be harder to make it look good for UA-cam maybe? Anyway, love the series, looking forward to the next episode!
I should have said this in the video, but the plan is to fill out the creator! It's also quite difficult (for me) to build into the and make it look visually interesting.
Im not sure you will see this. But in light of a comment you made earlier in the series. I do suggest a mod called "more upgrade moduals" with its dependency it adds basically tiered yield, power comp, and speed moduals. All the way up to x100. But the trade off is not only are the benefits increased that much. But so are the downsides to them.
I wouldn't lock the sun in place. It takes away the need for pretty lights, and I'm a sucker for pretty lights (in and around the base). Amazing series tho!
Use those nano bots as much as you want. We didn’t come here to watch you weld a million light armor blocks so if using them means we get more of the content we love and/or you enjoy you making the series more, then more power to you
The Rotary Airlock mod has a nice 1 block solution. I put a glass door in front of the and bathroom to dress it in. Also there a drill and fill system mod if you like the idea of square mining and leveling the crater floor. Also the build and repair system on small ships is great for small scale salvage ops may able to dredge up some superconductors and reactor comps from that.
@LargelyUnemployed the BNR for small block is way cheaper too. If you set I to grind only and janitor mode for hostile and neutral grids, it'll break down anything in range. If you want a more traditional approach, that giant hole in ground could be a nice grinding pit.
As for end goal the series is Upgrade the SFFP and have the base span whole crater you settled in so that way you have a proper home set up with different rooms for different tasks
I personally feel that the nanobot repair mod should only work on stations and grounded ships. Like ships that are parked and attached to a celestial body or a station. I believe that might be a little more balanced than just auto repair everywhere.
I kept to a similar self-imposed rule in this run. There were a lot of requests for a nanobot-based ship deleter, but I thought that might have broken the run a little
Base name: shelterhole Also if you rebulid the remora it should get as diffrent name because that way it is a ship not a pile of components that can be replaced.
Well, if you want drones so may be you build drone bay in that pit youv mined. it will look somewhat like a wasps nest. Some day in the past i builded one of those and it was interesting. Cos every drone or a small ship you have will be in the safe zone under the kilometers of dirt and steel. Also R.I.P. Remora. P.S. Good luck for you, i realy enjoy watching your videos. Realy funny and relaxing) And you need to belive that i realy enjoy it. COS i never write a comments to ANYBODY!)
Nanobots are really nice. Who wants to spend hours running back and forth getting materials and welding a bit and running for more? I wanna build and they let me do that easily. You still need resources and if you want to salvage something you still need to disarm it. There is a ignore color that you can place your new blocks in, which stops them from welding while you plan. When you are done planning you can just paint the entire area with control/shift+mmb or the entire base control+shift+mmb.
42:20 Suggestion... since you asked for it.. you REALLY should go ahead and move that 203mm UP a few blocks for the symmetry of the LOOK of your Brick Base (your words.. not mine.. ;).. ) Other than that I think you're doing a BANG up job on this play through.. SUPER glad I stopped by and found your channel! REALLY entertaining mate.. keep up the good work!!
or you could go a different direction with a very similar name. The Tortoise Head. Because enemies will be trying to hold in their poo when that 200 mill opens up.

Absolutely agree. I reckon the mining pit is a good candidate too
Rather than a grinder pit, make a Nanobot Pit that turns on the nanobots only when one of a couple sensors detects another grid inside the pit.
@@travispluid3603 that’s a good idea, since it would be able to get all the blocks while a grinder pit, with small grid blocks, sometimes can’t get all of them, maybe a combination? you should take advantage of the huge hole you dug as a hanger for all the mining ships and drones
Idea for the airlock: Event Controller looking at the doors, so when they're opened, they can start a timer block that will automatically close the doors.
Or that autodoor script, since he is using scripts.
The Nanomachines automatically grind down hostile blocks (can be turned off in the control panel)

Well done on the editing! hi Magick
Mod suggestion: *Block Picker* (CTRL+G to choose the block you're aiming at)
Regarding Hacking/taking over ships/grids - from the mod you got - *Hostile Takeover*: Blocks that are Control, Medical, Weapon, and Trap - All these blocks need to be either disabled or destroyed to capture a grid.
Was totally vibing during the timelapse with Enough playing
Another one ! It's awesome. I try to watch others to get my space engineers fix but non are as good as this channel
"i can now do this" *proceeds to comit homicide and multiple bank robberies*
Btw, call the base the raptor trap xD
Ps: people who says you should weld everything by hand should try welding 1000 blocks which are layered without breaking any of them first
For additional defense, you could build some sam-sites to provide crossfire. One on the plateau above etc.
22:10 SICK track by Neffex.. LOVE IT!
yaaaaaaaaaas it's so good
I hope everyone appreciates how much editing is doing for these videos.
Thank you! It is nice to be appreciated
18:56 I really thought the sun coming up was a massive explosion in the distance when it first appeared
Consider this: the base can be as big as you want it to be as long as the large part is underground where nobody can shoot at it.... So basically you should Hollow out the entire moon.
Don't forget you can take a blueprint of the base itself so you can use a projector to repair it when the reavers have had their way with it.
May I suggest the design for a fighter ship (kind of ;) )
It should be large grid ship, put bunch of large cargo containers, large reactors, large ion thrusters, bunch of gyros etc, usual stuff for a ship to move. Then surround it with grinders in all directions, also put bunch of build repair systems (like 50 or 100, make sure to have power ofc.). also don't forget shields, pit backups as well. when you finish building it, the main purpose should be to fly around in any fight near ships and let the repair system do the work (it will grind the enemy ships down thru the shield while in range), and ofc, turn on grinders if happens to collide with any :D
I play same scenario with all your mods and have built one, Works like a dream :D Just make sure to have enough power for thrust and build/repair system. Make it large and powerful enough to be normally maneuverable. I have install over 100 build and repair systems as well as over 20 large reactors and over 10 shields (1 main and rest is backup).
Shields have more HP if you provide them with more power, so, more MW you provide then you have more HP on shield ;)
And not forget some weapons (surround the ship with bunch of disco ball defenses and set it to target specifically small grids and missiles, as well as set them to Target FocusFire, Target SubSystems and Repeal Mode set to ON)
Anyway, it is just an idea and a pretty much big project but it is you gameplay and you can decide lol
Keep up great channel and content m8
This is so unhinged I love it. We BECOME the reaver
@@LargelyUnemployed Cannibal Reaver :D
Sometime my ship get damaged but it is only my driving skills lol
I'm thinking to upgrade it with lots of H2 thrusters as well and maybe add more build/repairs and reactors lol
I hope they won't get thru and blow up my H2 tanks lol
make a rolling blueprint of your base and project it onto the base, then the buildos can repair mid combat
scatter some decoy blocks around
You should make the hangar in the mining pit. Like drill into the sides of it and build a hangar there. I know this sounds hard, but it also sounds very cool
It really would be cool. Plus plenty of opportunities for me to crash while flying in and out of it 😂
With ricochet being a thing in SE now, the angled blocks are worth more than the stats would suggest, just incase anyone didnt know about the ricochet thing, bullets can now bounce off if they hit at an angle.
I didn't know about the ricochet thing! - that's great to know
i propably wouldn't play space engineers if i didn't know about those nano bots.. and i know about them thanks to you!
tried playing the game after buying it but all the stuff involved in building seem very tedious. it feels like i have to click so many times just to create a solar panel, but knowing those steps can be automated helps a lot.
Dunno if you noticed, but your ore detector reported platinum at 36:07. ISTR you have important plans that involve lots of thruster components.
After your drill drills out a nice deep hole, build solid conveyor straight down and set up the pistons so that it mines into the side. (I assume that it will work the same as long as nothing is changed besides the orientation.) Then you can have an underground hanger big enough for your ship to sit in when you come back to base.
Oh that's really fun. Could use it to tunnel around the place too
7:28 sneaky transition there
Well spotted 😏
dont stress the haters. don't even acknowledge them. Just have fun and play man that what were here to watch.
Maybe, its a little bit late, but you could place hangar doors over your top windows. In case of an attack you could close those to be more secure, it also could look nice
Very cool idea. I give myself an (optimistic) 3% chance of ever remembering to actually close them 😂
You could double up the windows at the bunker to make them a bit less weak and keep your industry safer.
@@LargelyUnemployed that sounds cool yes, and thanks for explaining!
I shall free it from its chains soon!
The small ship idea is genius
@LargelyUnemployed the BNR for small block is way cheaper too. If you set I to grind only and janitor mode for hostile and neutral grids, it'll break down anything in range. If you want a more traditional approach, that giant hole in ground could be a nice grinding pit.
I'd suggest adding lights outside as well, that'd make your dakka stand out quite nicely imo
I did off camera! Will show it off next time
I´ve completly fallen in love with your videos, keep up the good work
Thank you so much! Comments like this keep me going
For a base name....the Last Bastion would be a good one XD. Cause if you lose this you are out of hope :P
Rotary Airlock by nukeguard, for those who don't like the look of double door airlocks.
Your missile turret is backwards btw.
name suggestion : The somewhat safe sanctuary or the slab
Not gonna like the SFFP looks like the Rocinante from The Expanse.
Loving it :D
Moon base name.
Lunar Forge Outpost: Where determination and resourcefulness meld into a thriving lunar crucible.
2:08 station shield I believe can provide air
i LOVE THIS SERIES
keep it up
As for end goal the series is Upgrade the SFFP and have the base span whole crater you settled in so that way you have a proper home set up with different rooms for different tasks
I think this is it
I personally feel that the nanobot repair mod should only work on stations and grounded ships. Like ships that are parked and attached to a celestial body or a station. I believe that might be a little more balanced than just auto repair everywhere.
I kept to a similar self-imposed rule in this run. There were a lot of requests for a nanobot-based ship deleter, but I thought that might have broken the run a little
To help with base defense some turrets that are piped through the rock along the rock wall might be a good idea
Agreed. I think we ring the entire crator with them
Base name: shelterhole
Also if you rebulid the remora it should get as diffrent name because that way it is a ship not a pile of components that can be replaced.
I think you should name your base: my idea is the bffp or base fit for purpose
God tier content. You’re extremely underrated mate. Keep up the good work 🎉
Did not know you until yesterday - already here. Amazing content, you are making me to want to play that game again, after 10 years.
This is my first playthrough in years too! Really enjoyed it back in 2014 but had barely touched it since then
Series lore suggestion, the spectator could be Magic the Editor.
Realy funny and relaxing)
And you need to belive that i realy enjoy it. COS i never write a comments to ANYBODY!)
Base name: hole in a hole outpost
2. What if you make a rule of 1 build and repair on ships and two on bases
When you make the mining drones you should call them the sea lamprey or the cookie cutter sharks
Love this series
I think "the pillbox" might be good for the bunker base
42:20 Suggestion... since you asked for it.. you REALLY should go ahead and move that 203mm UP a few blocks for the symmetry of the LOOK of your Brick Base (your words.. not mine.. ;).. ) Other than that I think you're doing a BANG up job on this play through.. SUPER glad I stopped by and found your channel! REALLY entertaining mate.. keep up the good work!!
I agree, it will look so much better!
Nice! Another episode of the suit only series! ❤
I reckon to store the somewhat fit for purpose dig a pit Along the newly added defence area. So it is out of the new defences line of fire.
Loving the series so glad I stumbled across your channel lol my suggestion for a base name is Fort Rox cause it's on a massive rock lol
Might i suggest "The Tortoise" as a base name, since it's a heavy protective shell?
or you could go a different direction with a very similar name.
The Tortoise Head. Because enemies will be trying to hold in their poo when that 200 mill opens up.
I’ve never seen refineries on their sides but I will say I really love the look
