I like the use of the screen to dry grains! Sometimes my motivation to make bulk spawn is low because evaporating the surface moisture from the grain uses every baking sheet in my kitchen and achieving uniform surface moisture becomes a time and space consuming process. I went to my local hardware store and bought a small window screen for ~$11 US. I think its a good alternative if folks dont have the tools to build their own screen and it saved a lot of time

@90 Second Mycology true. I am sincere glad people like him exist. And you too. LOVE your videos. Definitely more my style. No flash, no drawn out explanations.......very well done. Short videos are just easier to absorb the information. You do it well. Plus I still subscribe to his videos too......just watch them 2x speed 😂.
This is exactly what drew me into Mr. Myco and his Methodology. Aside from the final product, his advice based on true lived experience will get any aspiring mycologist into the blue. Yeah, he got dialect. Yeah, he got home brew. But guess what? After years of being himself on teh interwebz, WE get to cultivate cubensis! Give Willy his due. He certainly has given it to us. Mush Hugs, Willy!
Kudos! I also adopted his screen tek for a couple months. Lately I've been getting black specks(contam) in my bags while colonization. I was wondering if it's because of hulls and old grains stuck in the screen crevices from previous dries. Have you had this problem?
I stopped the video @4:09 and I ordered the same rye berry's for 22$ 25lb and the damn package said it was 5 stops away, and I checked it later and it said it went back to the carrier for some issue wtf!?!? I'm so pissed
I just made 400 kilos do it every week, You should take them when the grains just start to split. These are a little raw still need a little more cooking. Gypsum is for shiitake you may get better results from using 50% gypsum and 50% calcium carbonate, you may get even better results using just calcium carbonate and no gypsum. You need to try a little with all your strains, for example, Pleurotus hates gypsum, etc.
hey what was the room temp when you where drying your grains? if your in the P.N.W. and especially if your above sea-level they will dry at completely different rates, but really if you include your preferred room temp that could drastically help some that may not know better.
Willy, I'm following this vid for my first go, gonna be growing PE and GT, on the sterilization step can I use a vacuum sealer to get the air out and seal the bags? And should that be before or after pressure cooking?
Willy what about buying grain bags that are already sterilized but have been sitting on a shelf my local hydroponic store sells grain bags but who knows how old they are because there not labeled do you recommend buying from them?
Thanks to you my journey in mycology has been far less arduous with your expertise. Many thanks in love and light brother!😁 Keep up the outstanding work!

WHat do the berries wiegh after hydration? You started with 10lb dry, what wa the weight of the berries after hydration? I need to know how much grain to hyrdate to equal 18 lbs after hydrated
Theres several ways. Moisture in the grain is key too.. my 1st time i had cracked corn in my wild bird seed, makes a starchy clump... luckily it still worked. Not ideal tho. Ive done brf vermiculite. Wbd bird seed. Never rye yet. Looking forwarrd to it. You can use pop corn and more too.
Its really and truly a learn as you go kind of thing. The best "tips and insider tricks" come from personal trial and error, my first time ever growing mushrooms not knowing anything i harvested 4 ounces dry from two flushes of purple mystics. If I had known to soak the block I could have got way more and for me personally pinning conditions were very confusing but after one grow i know exactly how to create a sick ass pinset and what cause pins to form. Get out there and do it, if your even slightly intelligent it will come so fast.
Honestly you weren't missing out on much, the last couple flushes are much weaker potency wise than the first 2. Those flushes would most likely disappoint you or those yours sharing with. But sometimes they can still be decent
Hi, I found a substrate recipe! What do you think: Rye grain, bird seed mix (including flax seed), brown rice flour, a few spoons of vermiculite. Would this work? I think it's good food for the hungry mycelium. Please give me your opinions, thanks in advance
Check your local food co op. Or health foods style grocery store. Check the bins with different seeds and grains. I found rye berrys for .99c /lb at my co op.
Had me thinking about Arvin with all the “As you can see”, mush love brother

Awesome video! I'm soaking rye berries, using this method for my first ever grain spawn inoculation. This helped a bunch
How did it go?
Thank you willy. A lot of this info just isn't on forums. You're doing gods work! I've been using a window screen for over a year lmaoo
Kudos! I also adopted his screen tek for a couple months. Lately I've been getting black specks(contam) in my bags while colonization. I was wondering if it's because of hulls and old grains stuck in the screen crevices from previous dries. Have you had this problem?
You need to clean and replace the screen from time to time yes. Always through full clean up after each run
Awesome video! I'm soaking brown rise, using this method for my first ever grain spawn inoculation. This helped a bunch
Fact. Willy is the golden teacher. Thank you sir
Can we have an oat video?
Yeah I noticed Willy doesn't really mention Oats for some reason... I wonder why...
I stopped the video @4:09 and I ordered the same rye berry's for 22$ 25lb and the damn package said it was 5 stops away, and I checked it later and it said it went back to the carrier for some issue wtf!?!? I'm so pissed

Agreed. I actually do a 12 hour soak and a soft boil for 8-9 minutes with rye
I haven't heard of using calcium for this. I have a bunch of it and was going to try this. Do you know of this is good for Lions main?
Trip Team Family! Always great videos. Loved the last traveling and foraging video.
Lmao i just used my window screen instead of making my own drying rack thing like you have. Works well, after its cleaned of course 😂
This is by far the best method I've ever seen.... thank you
This was a great video, 100% success from this video...Thank you

Just starting out thank you for the knowledge that you share with everyone nothing but love trip team family
How long can you leave un-inoculated, sterilized grain spawn in a bag? Can you do that?
Yes my question as well
Perfect every single time as u said. Thanks

Have you tried adding a 2% Karo syrup to your grains? While their in the water
You could add light corn syrup to do the same thing right? Good tip
Thank you Willy! TRIP TEAM FAMILY!
Would love to see a full tek on how to do bags was just looking at getting some but not sure how to do them
Great video, Willie.
Thanks Trip team Family!
Can you store sterylized grain in a fridge for later? If yes for how long?
Clear straightforward tutorial. Thanks!
Trip Team Family. Thanks Willy for your videos and for help making this hobby a fun learning experience. Cheers!
I like to have a bucket that I drill holes to act as a strainer as I rinse it to clear water
Grains came out dry, to where mycelium stalled. Can we add more moisture somehow to save the batch
Where can i find the popcorn and wild Bird Seed techniques ?
Hey man.... much love from Seattle!!!
Willy what about buying grain bags that are already sterilized but have been sitting on a shelf my local hydroponic store sells grain bags but who knows how old they are because there not labeled do you recommend buying from them?
Willy have you or would you consider doing a video on a Martha Tent
Willy when you heat the water, is it the same water you soaked them in or new water? Love the channel
Every video is nonstop knowledge. Thank you . Trip team family 🤯
Is there a link to building the drying rack?
Does that pellet hi-yeild gypsum from the feed store ok? Or is it to concentrated and I might add more than needed?
That's a good question and did you get the answer by the way
@@riverside321 Nope 🤷♂

Willy your the stuff IM glad to be part of the trip team family
So far I’ve just bought rye bags ready to go from MycoLabs, not making my own just yet.
can I just mix whole rye flour with a substrate from my growkit after about the third flush?
TripTeam Family. Thanks for the info my guy!

Trip team family! Ty
Nice video. Question: how long to PC and at what PSI? Thanks
could this process be used for popcorn too?
What exactly does the gypsum do?
Much love TRIP TEAM FAMILY!
There is no PP unicornpack where i live. Can i just use ovenpacks used for cooking chicken ?
Im a newbie, question; is it ok to soak corn overnight?and what about brown rice. The same amount of soaking time?
TripTeamFamily! 💪🏼
Thank you!!!
Then you pressure cook it?

I also cant stress enough, STERILIZE STERILIZE STERILIZE. ISOPROPYL Alcohol is your best friend. Be liberal af with it as well.

So this post simmered strained H2O is best distilled water and saved for agar?
Trip Team Family!!! ; is this a worldwide contest?
Almost always my luck n have it a little too wet but havent had any issues so it must be absorbed back into the grains
What is the purpose of the gypsum?
#TripTeamFamily - Amazing as always!!
outstanding bro Mush Love #DopeBoyCertified🛸
How can i do this on a small scale without the screen and stuff?
Check your local food co op. Or health foods style grocery store. Check the bins with different seeds and grains. I found rye berrys for .99c /lb at my co op.
