It is amazing how focused they are. They started the band when they were 12-14 years old and play together for 7 years now. At that age my interests and hobbies changed every other year.
@@akaalexanderking So do I but unfortunately I'm not so sure about that. This is quite an "old" band and I think there's a much bigger market for bands with vovalists. BTW do you you know this: HAL-CA「Rising Moon」9th九州・沖縄FINAL STAGE【優秀賞&オーディエンス賞】 ua-cam.com/video/BMMZB4U_mEk/v-deo.html This was from November 1, 2015 when they were 12, 13 and 15 years old!!!
I really hope they can make it, I don't think I've ever seen a bunch of school kids play so well together. Maybe that's a weird thing to say, but the way the guitarist moves her hands doesn't look like it's a young person doing it, but much more like a veteran player. As for vocals, they have played a few covers with Maki Oyama (who btw is also a musician worth checking out), especially In the Mirror by Loudness was pretty good. Unfortunately there are only "fancam" recordings of that: ua-cam.com/video/3thAXV4laAA/v-deo.html. However the thought of them getting a singer makes me a bit nervous because the wrong singer can ruin a band for me.
As was already pointed out, their live recordings with vocals are unfortunately only available as fancams filmed on mobile phones, but still worth checking out. Here's the link to the cover of Loudness' In the Mirror, an absolute classic in Japanese metal: ua-cam.com/video/3thAXV4laAA/v-deo.html Here's Maki Oyama's (the singer) acoustic version of the song. It's a live studio recording, so much better sound: ua-cam.com/video/MAFJE-Uqklg/v-deo.html And in case you haven't heard Loudness' original, here's a live recording from 1984. The song originally came out even before Metallica's Kill'em All - so it was quite ahead of it's time: ua-cam.com/video/7SuwT84JOkw/v-deo.html Their guitar player, Akira Takasaki, is basically the Japanese Eddie Van Halen and one the main inspirations of Asterism's HAL-CA, he even did a clone of Eruption called Exploder, also worth checking out: ua-cam.com/video/V-ojqUiR-tE/v-deo.html HAL-CA covered that as well, of course in her homework series ;) ua-cam.com/video/ptTm2KOWt_w/v-deo.html
Balzingly good! I just started following them early this year. Someone mentioned it to me to check out and I was pleasantly surprised. They are very talented. I for one don't mind for them to just continue to be an instrumental band. Vocal's aren't' needed. Music is good as is and it's masterful. 🔥🔥🔥🤘
Has anybody suggested to review Hanabie " we love sweets" yet? Or 花冷え。「我甘党」Music Video【Official】. This is a mixture of Babymetal and Maximum the Hormone. Another crazy japanese female band.
ASTERISM Official Web Site says: Guitarist: HAL-CA ( Haruka Noma) Birthday: November 23, 2002 This tune was recorded at a venue named Graf in Fukuoka, March 2019. Therefore HAL-CA was just 16 at that time. She's a very talented and well educated musician who started to play with Miyu and Mio as a band at age 12. They grew up together and enhanced their skills and abilities as musicians.
Honestly Hal-Ca is a force of nature and Miyu is her equal which makes them such an "assassin" pair on those strings. Poor Mio on drums is fantastic as usual but never gets any shine time but without him keeping these beasts in check the songs would be no where as good. Hal-Ca has that "Hendrix" vibe on stage and was born to be a rock star, Miyu is just sensational on that bass and his playing is often overlooked simply because he is a bass player. These kids write this music, arrange it and then play it and at their age (still in High School here) that is stunning ( have been together as a group since age 11). I am so glad to see a reactor truly appreciate the total skill package that they have and still lose it when I hear "they need a vocalist" nonsense. Listen to the instrumental, the music is their vocals much as the old masters penned works (I guess today they would struggle on YT without a vocalist as well). Great review and now we wait and see what happens now that these kids have signed with BabyMetal's label. I am holding my breath as they will get greater exposure BUT I only hope the suits leave the fusion of Metal/Rock/Jazz creativity alone and don't saddle them with a vocalist just to try and gain some more mass appeal. The only trio of talent I can compare them to in my lifetime is Cream (1966-68) who I saw LIVE several times. These kids I think will end up even greater than that super group especially since there is no ego wars that derailed Baker/Bruce/Clapton after a few years. These kids have incorporated a lot of the great players and blended that into their own style which is so unique. They are one of the few bands I would really make every effort to see LIVE when touring starts again.
Finally, back to Asterism another favorite band of mine out of Japan, between Hal-Ca, Miyako and Midori you can never go wrong. I bought their latest album Guernica and it is phenomenal as the rest of the EP's. One of Hal-Ca guitar hero is Michael Schenker and she does Into the Arena Cover so majestically and adds her own flavor to it I was speechless when I heard it ua-cam.com/video/FtzmmQX1cmk/v-deo.html
Asterism is one of those group where I've had to rewind after saying, "Wait, what did they just do?" The sweep fingering on this song was one of those times when I first saw it. Their song "Stars" was the same way, especially at the end, but some versions are better than others. They have two versions on their channel, and I much prefer the Live version as opposed to the 360 Battle version. ua-cam.com/video/LVIJFhF68Pg/v-deo.html
These J-metal bands seem to have an attraction to the gallop rhythm. Iron Maiden landed in Japan and flourished there it seems... Many talented guitarists in Japan these days!
HaL-Ca is a Deadly Shredder better than most . She had Bucket Head play a couple of songs on their album . She a very fast and talented Guitarist , can you listen to the song called Disperse , check she out . 🎸🎸🎸🎸
Great reaction. Saw this band first on your channel. They are amazing. But i would not go to a live show. To much only instrumental. Which i always loved. But not for a whole show. Thank you for this reaction.
I rather the "straightforward" metal style, of this song.👍 The kids also have a cool cover of Judas Priest "Ram it Down", nice to watch, not necessarily with reaction purposes.
For Asterism to make it, imo, is for them start writing songs that can better emotionally connect. You can only get so far with flash-jamming instrumentals. I'm not saying you can't make a great living with a great guitarist, bassist and drummer doing instrumentals. There's a number success stories with that format. But it's going to depend on their songwriting. There are better musicians than Band-Maid, for example, but their prolific songwriting is so strong they could take their unbelievable musicianship and songwriting to the top 10 bands. But I'm also rooting for Asterism. They've got plenty of talent and time. They just need some stronger songs... and a vocalist.
That's a good point Tom. Still, I hope they'll find success without a singer to be honest: that for me would mean they had truly reached their max potential
The future of kick-ass is safe in their hands. It's too bad your first reaction was to the studio-live, not their live. That one is so insane it might even be worth its own reaction. They keep modifying and adding to it...ua-cam.com/video/buQPvINJcA0/v-deo.html One more comment: They have done shows with guest vocalists, but I would rather see them stay instrumental because there are no vocalists who can improve on this.
Well, Maki Oyama was not bad at all. Unfortunately, she decided to move in another direction, it seems like heavy music is not her favourite. But that cover of Rage Against the Machine "Guerilla Radio" was fantastic. Actually better than the original! Well, that's my feeling, of course. But those bass and drum fills have definitely added to the greatness of the song. ua-cam.com/video/hCqh6S2SGuI/v-deo.html ASTERISM - Guerrilla Radio
By following her on Instagram, have you seen her playing bass? The first time, my jaw dropped to the floor - she slap like a demon!
I've seen that yesterday, yeah. Mad!
@@akaalexanderking Guernica albrum reaction.
they are so amazing and they know, how good they are. thanks for the very enjoyable video.
They're on a different level 🤘🏻
Asterism is a force of nature. I hope that when we could get the normality again these young people could spread their talent around the world.
Really hope so as well Juan 🤘🏻
Was lucky enough to catch them at SXSW when they were in Austin, TX couple years ago and they were awesome.
It is amazing how focused they are. They started the band when they were 12-14 years old and play together for 7 years now. At that age my interests and hobbies changed every other year.
True that, impressive commitment
The first minute or so after they all 3 come in is basically an homage to Hit the Lights!💪🏻🤘🏻
And a good one as well
Great reaction...It's unfortunate that they are not given the opportunity internationally...They would KICK -ASS...In festival shows...
Such a great stage presence for an instrumental band 🤘🏻
Finally! Thanks for that.
My pleasure, what a band!
This bands amazing, I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

Brilliantly said. There are a few bands that make great music but the vocals destroy the whole experience.
Agreed, the more instrumental bands, the happier I am 😁
