@@JamieEmmons my previous video was about the ants in case you haven't seen it! Not a lot has happened with them since that one 😁I'll give an update as soon as I have some more footage
I'm using my samsung s22 with a clip on macro lens. For lighting it is just a small cheap hand hold work lamp. Definitely need to get some better equipment soon
@@k0kiF1 yes it is realy not easy to film with the animals moving and I need to keep the macro lens at just the right distence to not get a blurry image. Also you see every small movement of my hands and I definitely don't have steady hands 😅 But indeed I'm pretty happy with the quality for not too expensive equipment. I want to get a better camera for close ups of animals but I know nothing about camera's so I need to do some research to know what to get
@@HomemadeEcosystems the best solution right now for steady shots is to get a good tripod. Don't get one of those cheap tripods where all three legs are linked together, instead look for a tripod whose legs are independent of each other because that way you can adjust them all freely, especially in uneven terrain. Don't shell out $$$ on a professional grade tripod if you don't have the budget, you can get a very decent one for $100-150 (if you want a transverse center column, if not, then it's less than $100). Also, you can get a macro focus rail slider for minute adjustments. There are manual as well as motorized rail sliders. The motorized ones are very expensive, though, whereas the manual ones are less than $100. If you do invest in the tripod and macro focus rail sliders, there is a bit of a learning curve. You just have to see if what I mentioned works for you, because your movements will be extremely limited, but picture quality will be better if that's what you're looking for. As for cameras, if it's fast moving subjects you want to capture, it would be best to use a mirrorLESS camera because they are capable of adjusting lightning fast whereas a DSLR would be cheaper but too bulky and takes longer to focus. Obviously, the mirrorless cameras are way more expensive and you would have to invest in a macro lens on top of that.
Tip, water the ground prior to placing your catch cup, and add a thin layer of damp soil and crushed dead / decaying leaves in the catch cup you'll catch a lot more in less than half the time. Tip, take a potato cut it in 2 halfs hollow out both Half's place it in the ground in damp soil hole side up, check it daily for a variety of insects empty it put it back in the ground until your happy with your catch
0:53 PERFECT protection. They'll never get wet now! Retry this but do it in a forest or somewhere where more bugs may reside, I think you'll get better results that way. 2:27 Damn why you gotta roast us like that? LMAO That terrarium is super cool looking though! I'd love to see more! You're so funny btw!

you’re the only channel that I have notifications turned on for that isn’t a 90 day fiancé commentary channel. Idk what that says about me but…I love ur videos.
A tiny shovel, I am still grinning insanely about your "about" section which says "I make eco systems" to which my brain, of its own accord, answered "I am an eco system" I really don't know why that gave my brain a "happy" rush, but it did! I think I am entering that phase that happens to really ancient beings, when I have started regressing, that or my brain has a clean up crew of springtails!
If you want to make a river you need a pomp thar pomps the water back to the other side. You can cach bigger insects by flipping rocks or wood in a forest and catch them by hand. Or you can use the method in this video but bigger containers
After dealing with mean people all day I came to relax to a video about ecosystem. You had me in the first half, ngl. But around 2:32I felt attacked again. Thank you for puttin salt in my wounds..
If Luna moths are considered birds then Roly polies are my favorite bug up their with rhino beetles, lady bugs, dragon flies , lightning bugs, etc. (yes most of my favorite bugs are Beatles) Since buttflies and moths should be classified as birds of the anthropoid lineage just like how bats are birds from the mammals linage. :)
Should I retry this but this time in a forest or something?
