It may seem like they "defy gravity" yet their incredible leaping skills are possible because of gravity

Sifakas are not monkeys. Monkeys usually have shorter snouts with a dry nose. Meanwhile, sifakas have long snouts with a wet nose, typical of lemurs. In addition, sifakas possess a toothcomb, a set of lower teeth used for grooming. Monkeys lack this dental feature, but it is prevalent amongst lemurs.
Sifakas are a kind of lemur! There are two ways to identify a lemur. One is their snout; lemurs have long snouts with a wet nose, and a split upper lip. The second way is in the lemur's mouth. At the front of their mouth, lemurs will have a toothcomb, a set of lower incisors that are used for grooming, which sifakas do possess.
Sifakas live in many different kinds of forest, or areas filled with trees. Some, such as the Silky sifaka, live in montane tropical rainforests, where it rains constantly. Others, such as Verreaux's sifaka, live in spiny forests. These forests are dry environments, and the trees are covered in spines for protection against other herbivores.
Sifakas are some of the biggest lemurs on the planet. They can grow to about two feet in length, and weigh at most 13 pounds. The only lemur that is bigger is the indri, a lemur that weighs over 20 pounds. Sifakas also have a large tail about as long as their bodies, which they use for balance in the trees and when they are leaping on the ground.
