austin is a million times better in terms of quality of life IMO. Natural beauty, lakes, greenery, not pure concrete. People are more accepting generally too
@@dcole879DFW has more lakes and rivers than Austin. Austin PD has been gutted due to liberal politics which is causing crime to rise. The liberal politics in Austin decreases the quality of life for mostly conservative cops. DFW doesn’t have any more “concrete” than Austin. There is 10x more to do in the DFW than Austin.
He won’t make “less”. He IS leaving to make more. He has his San Jose retirement, his executive DPD retirement and now a new source of income. He will in fact make more than ever. That’s the only reason he left. He will stay in Austin for 5 years and then leave for his next job chasing even more money.
I have lived in Texas all my life and lived in Dallas as well like by Lovefield and Oakcliff and other locations in Dallas and yes it was bad before Chief Eddie Garcia came!!! He is the best that Dallas has ever had!!! I hate to see you go but I totally understand about Family....Wishing you well and safety and happiness in everything you do. Thank you for your service here in Dallas!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
chief of police eddie garcia, i feel your pain with respect, hope, and appreciation, in 2024 BECAUSS as a human, civilian, educator, media advocate, and almost but not yet retired school administrator, it hurts to see LEADERSHIP & heartfelt words of wisdom in our day and age of 2024!!! God Bless You! GOD WILL, and YOU will be FANTASTIC in your next venture in LIFE, too!
Good for you chief! A nearly 33 year career in law enforcement…what an achievement. You don’t last all those years without taking scars with you but glad you’re prioritizing what’s most important FAMILY on this other side of life. Good Luck!
...didnt know you were from Puerto Rico... but that doesn't matter, your health & service, do! GOD BLESS YOU now and in your future too! wow! RESPECT your decision, too! 2024 & more, you & your family matter TOO!
No one in Dallas betrayed you. This city worked too hard to keep you. The city put a lot of money behind you to keep you in place. Dallas adores you! No betrayal here. The person who betrayed you was Broadnax. Broadnax hates Mayor Johnson and is using you to get even with him. He couldn't wait until the ink on your contract had dried completely before firing off a memo in Austin. That memo quickly made its way up the highway to Dallas. That's how your leaving was discovered. Everyone was "blindsided" by this information. EVERYONE!! I know you have a good working relationship with Broadnax but even the best of relationships cannot stand once ulterior motives come into play. It's a real shame. You were truly the best to do it. We're going to miss you terribly! If things don't work out in Austin, come back home to Dallas where you are truly beloved and appreciated! We need you here. We really do! I don't think your "done" with law enforcement yet. I really don't. You will have to get used to not wearing that uniform. I think you like the uniform. You wear it even when you don't have to! I think it is part of your "DNA". You seem to live in it. As I said earlier, if it doesn't work out in Austin, COME BACK TO DALLAS! This is your home! WE LOVE YOU!!!
You were made an offer you couldn’t turn down. It’s ok. Just saddens that Dallas did tricks to try to keep you and make you happy and you said you wouldn’t leave. To retire and be gone is one thing, but to retire and start new job still with TC is a slap in the face.
He had it planned before hand, it’s all a money game, and for him to say he’s leaving the police department is kind of a slap in the face, he’s going to be the head of the police, and fire
I thought he was leaving because of the crime being so bad in Dallas I don't see very much of it going down or decreasing. There has been quite a bit of turnover in the police chief Department over the last several decades. Sorry to see him go but I'm sure it will take a lot of pressure off of him and his family
Here is some more context on why Garcia said he is retiring from law enforcement: www.wfaa.com/article/news/local/dallas-county/dallas-police-chief-eddie-garcia-talks-one-on-one-with-wfaa-ahead-of-retirement-from-law-enforcement/287-a5aa69a2-3148-45b5-bf22-58af7d481a52
He is still a blue line gang member. The desegrated flag in the background states so. One thing that stands out to me happened in the first two or so minutes where the chief stated he could not be with his men and women on weekends. He completely lost his responsibilities to his job long ago and this remark proves it. He is the PD chief for the people he serves. the men and women that report to him are just an extension of his public service and nothing more. Once he made that remark you know his entire career has been about us vs them. PD's all across the US have too much power, hide behind immunity, and when they mess up they get paid holidays, may end up getting fired all to be litigated by their corrupt police unions to be hired back with back pay that we the people end up flipping the bill for. Its time for we the people to take their requirements back and work for us. Not against us.
I dont live in Dallas. Probably the best chief or one of the best that Dallas has had. I am sure its not easy working for the city of Dallas . Big loss for them
I hate police but I must say Dallas PD is overall some of the chillest police. To the next chief keep it that way otherwise there will be consequences 💯
Sorry man but things are not positive. you lost a policeman just a few weeks ago & Dallas is a dumpster fire atm . Tragic because Dallas wasn’t like this
I don’t see how that is his fault. I live in Dallas and have watched democrat politicians destroy this city with woke policies and pandering to idiots.
He seems like a nice guy, but I'm sorry the downtown of Dallas has not felt safe and especially as we all witnessed last week how that woman got knocked down cold by some homeless deranged person and the other three guys that were also there that were similar to that guy didn't even do a thing. And she seems like a frail woman.. that was just sickening. And on top of that some of the dart lines don't feel safe either not even for some tourists. I hope that they rapidly fix that if they want to have a safer downtown. I don't know what happened to that mayor either who changed political parties for what:? For his own personal perception of how he wanted people to view him?
It’s his life. Make less but live a little more in a city smaller than Dallas. Best of luck Chief Eddie Garcia. Thank you for your service.

Thank you Chief Garcia for everything you did here in Dallas. Wishing you the best of luck in Austin.
Big loss for Dallas i wish him the best in Austin. i hope they can replace him within the department.

He was good for Dallas!
33 years in any profession is tremendous, nonetheless in law enforcement. Joining at 21, the state minimum age, this job IS his identity.

Excellent interview.
Thanks for watching the video!
I WOULD LEAVE TOO!!! STAY TF OUT OF DALLAS!!! NOTHING GOOD HAPPENS!!!
Don't leave us 😢
Congratulations 🎊 🎉
He was a stand up guy. Regardless he fought for the city. And now its time to fight for his family. Honorable!!!
Respect

Any job is a “money game” and anyone who says anything different is lying.
Stop being a hater.
Heard he did great things for Dallas. Congratulations sir
You heard wrong.
@@txhuntsman yeah just here say. I’m with Houston and have a few friends with Dallas. Probably a talker like the rest of them!

Paying public servants more then congress or in some cases president. So sad
I loved how Dallas police don’t harass you just to meet their quota
I dont live in Dallas. Probably the best chief or one of the best that Dallas has had. I am sure its not easy working for the city of Dallas . Big loss for them
We had a male and female couple in your academy that came to our FD because of the lack of leadership
He left San Jose with little to no tats, now he's got full sleeves. Is that a requirement for TX-LEO's? :D

Did anyone thank he would say under the mayor that he works for😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hell nah 😂
Nice
A kid from Puerto Rico who didn’t know how to speak English
To now a man who doesn’t know how to speak Spanish lol
What's the point of your comment?
A TRUE good & honest immigrant. Dedicated to the American way.
I don't blame him, take the money and run😂

Yes it’s been a great ride collecting paycheck by doing absolutely nothing
