Birch will last about 3 or 4 months in the dirt like that. Birch bark is incredibly rott resistant. But the wood is not. It breaks down instantly.

Never debark your cabin logs. Bark adds a ton of water and bug resistance!
Bro what? Lol
Bark attracts bugs, water gets under the bark and rots the wood
@@tylerfricks7369 should have burned the wood.
huh
You are partialy right. If you don't peel the layer under the bark, then, it's better with bark. The layer between bark and years will rot faster without bark, and demage cental part of the log. But if you carve it all the way to years area it can last for decades. Wooden planks for fence are prity thin. After twenty years of exposure to rains, snows, frosts, without any varnish or paint, they are still tough. Maybe some of them could be rotten if they were in shadow most of time, or maybe their bottom because of dew in the grass or mud deposits
Unfortunate for me, the jungles around my area dont have any properly sawd off logs and planks nor nails

@@tarp-grommet can you make a tent?
@@dejanjovanovic2298 Why would I "make a tent"? Why would I make a log shelter, for that matter?
@@tarp-grommet it's survival situation. Dystopia. Your house is gone. Your condo has been taken taken by corporational fascists. Stores are not working. No cash anymore. Only points that corporational fascists give to their capo-slaves for hunting you, per example.... You'll need some fabric, at first, if you want to make a tent. skins, maybe. Buffalo skins. But there are no buffalos anymore. Cow skins, then. No cow's anymore. In Netherlands they are already exterminating cows. Cows fart, you know. So the ozone layer is being blown away.... Maybe you can derivate fabric from plants. Hemp, for instance. But, can you recognize a hemp plant? I can't. I saw it once, but it looks almost the same as some useles weed i am strugling with in my vegetable garden. And will it be waterproof? I don't know. They are making even construction blocks of hemp today. But who knows how to derivate textile fabric from hemp? Oh, my mother nows. Maybe her peer from the other side of the country also knows. But they have no strenght to do it.... So, good old bushcraft is available to everyone. Or fox style architecture. Badger style architecture.... Everybody can do it. You don't need to learn the craft. These videos are showing some examples, just to illuminate those who had their primitive survival instincts burried, to show them it is not some quantum physics to make a shelter. It can be done in many ways, depending of surroundings, means and situation you are in. And one don't have to know how in advance..... some people are watching these videos in order to prepare. I'm watching this because of estetics. Of some primitive charm it has, and maybe to make some really primitive shed in my yard
Those thin, barely buried framing supports are holding on to dear life. I'll give it a week's worth if rain max before it caves in.
The second I saw the nails... Another video was with a tarp covered roof, that he proceeded to stick over 50-75 wooden "shingles" on with nails. Pretty sure this is the same scam as those "indigenous pool builders" who made dirt pools, but it eventually came out that they were using heavy equipment to build, and the structures were abandoned immediately after and deteriorate. These are built for the views. hopefully he takes the nails out and disperses the wood on his sites after building all of these.
Why are you people so critical I’m the comments just enjoy your mildly interesting video
@@user-rw8zb9jv6n Because this gives people extremely unrealistic ideas of how to undertake such an endeavour
@@TehMafiaTV all those "pool builders" are just copying the original. Mr. John Plant, AKA Primitive Technology. He actually builds structures and appliances with 100% primitive techniques and tools. can i get a survival tutorial on how to make nails? lmao
I’m pretty sure you combine a little bit of moss and a dead butterfly to get nails
@@Daniel-hj4xn you do that but you first need to make a hammer out of some dead bugs and a chunk of iron that you get from a iron bush
you first must build a normal fire and make a bunch of clay bricks to make a furnace build the oven(furnace) and make a few molds for the nails
Take all your metal you panned in the river or creek and get that ish melted down and pour the molten metal into the molds.
Or go to the store and buy a couple pounds for 10 bucks.
@@deputyfuzzball you can get metal from riverbed deposits like how they pan for gold but with iron and such. We can make nails. If you have the rocks its much easier you just smash em into bits and heat em up and try not to melt your arms off

I'd say Survival craft, would be no nails, rope, or such modern adhering materials.
But in my opinion bushcraft is just using what is available around you, and building stuff out in the bush.
It is so easy to criticise, but lets be honest, it is far better that people actually do these activities to their own satisfaction, then not doing them at all.

My pest control tech brain is just screaming, " TERMITES!!!!!!!"
Only issue with the pine boughs and bark dust in between the logs is it ain't gonna keep any water out. I'd recommend slathering as much beeswax or pine sap as humanly possible on the inside to waterproof it. Other than that, it should retain heat pretty well. Birch is a pretty ok hardwood for small shelters like that. All you need is a little fire right outside the door so the smoke don't get in, and it heats the area. Not bad.
Me over here asking why you removed the bark. But also I hope the bark didn't go to waste. Lots of things ypu could use that for.
