Wow! Just found this channel, and all I can say is THANK YOU! Santa brought my 9 yr. old son a canoe for Christmas, and all he wants to do now is hit the river looking for smallmouth. He has been frustrated the last few times we've gone because I have caught them, but he has not. I was having the hardest time articulating the sorts of things he needed to be looking to find. We sat down tonight and watched two videos, and he is already chomping at the bit to get out and try all of the stuff he learned. Your illustrations and slow motion made it so easy for him to understand (and dad might have been sitting there taking just as many notes). Subscribed to the channel and now about to go back and check out more!
That is awesome to hear! I'm honored to have helped in some way. Hope you two kill 'em all summer 💪
Love jigs, i catch them all the time it seems like mostky all on jigs. And ned rid or blade baits
Great video. First off, a technical aside: your editing/sound mixing is 👌Second, I literally busted out my fishing journal and took notes. I appreciate you clearly articulating intuitions I've had and methodically presenting tips with illustrations of what they look like while actually fishing! This is top-notch content. I look forward to putting the tips to practice this coming weekend with some buddies!
This is a safe space for fishing geeks! It means a lot that this is useful to you. I don't claim to know everything, but what I have learned I want to share with y'all so you can have as much fun out there as I do. Good luck this weekend!
Hey man, wanted to drop a comment. Love your input. Too often when searching through UA-cam for tips, they’ll laser focus onto lures or weather or what have you without dropping practical knowledge like you have. This video is exactly what I was looking for.
I really appreciate that feedback. That's my goal with videos like these. I love certain baits don't get me wrong, but I aim to teach people instead of sell products to em.
@@RivermanTV- Right on, overall everything you encapsulate into this video was very good information. And don’t we all have our top picks for lures? Haha it’s part of the fun. The way you dissected the river was easily digestible, it gave me the opportunity to look at the river I fish with a new set of lenses. Props to you man, as a returning angler after a long hiatus I feel I needed this to grow my fundamental knowledge. Sorry for the rant, if you can’t tell I’m rather passionate about this subject! 😂
@@juicebox6718 you're always welcome to be a river geek here 😉
Great videos! I am learning a lot from your channel!!
That makes these videos worth it! Love to hear it. Thanks for watching.
Killer job man 🔥You broke that down and picked it apart ! Top notch content from a top notch River Smallie hammer
Thanks bro 👊 Means a lot coming from a straight stick!!
Just found your channel and through a couple of your videos and they are awesome super cool insight
Really appreciate your feedback! I'm glad you're finding them useful.
Man, you boys up north sure have some incredible water and gorgeous fat fish!
I'm continuously blown away by the dimensions of northern river smallmouth. They've got their skinny southern river cousins beat hands down imo.
Great video! Wish I had smallmouth rivers where I live.
Where are you located? It'd be tough to go a whole summer without river smallies...
@@RivermanTV- I live in north Georgia. We have shoal bass and other river species but no smallmouth rivers. I have to go to western North Carolina lakes to get to smallies.
I can't believe the size of all the smallest in that river!!
Some of these northern rivers are just magical
Very good video ! New subscriber here I fish tge deleware river in ny and is very similar to ur river
Thanks for coming along! The Delaware looks like a really cool place. I'd love to get out there one day.
Come on out ! I’m not a huge river guy more lakes and large mouth but I’ve noticed similarities in what ur doing I might have to pick your brain I just moved right on the deleware I’ve done ok but I’m sure u could shed some light … not to be a d**k rider but you deff got it down pat
I throw the same ones glad we’re on the same page … have u tried the core tackle hoverstroll heads?
@@everythingoutdoors-vl9bl I've got some of their tush heads but I haven't used em yet. That's all I have from them.
Good stuff!! What kayak do you use? I do river fishing and looking for a kayak that’s stable but also easy to move around fast moving waters. Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏻
In this video I'm in my Old Town Topwater PDL but that's not normally my river yak. I was traveling and doing some tournament fishing on some big lakes so I had no choice. I'd highly recommend the Crescent Shoalie as a dedicated river kayak. It's a great skinny water boat and turns really well. If you check out some of my recent videos, I'm fishing out of that.
What trailers and what swim jigs do you prefer ?
I mostly stick to Dirty Jigs swim jigs. Their finesse swim jig is my go to when I want something a little smaller. I usually pair it with a 3 inch keitech style swimbait. Lately I've been using Strike King Rage Swimmers in a green/silver color.
What river are you fishing? Looks great 👍
Unfortunately this one must remain unnamed 🤐
@@RivermanTV- I live in NJ I’m not poaching you’re waters lol I was just curious where you were fishing you know STATE. I can find my own fish.
@@georgetollefsen994 I understand. I only say it because they aren't my waters, I'm not a local and it ain't a big body. It's more of a not posting on the internet, nothing to do with you. It's in MN.
@@RivermanTV- okay cool 😎 thanks brother!
