- Dell gave me this outrageously large super ultrawide monitor to discuss it's potential for CAD and visualisation/rendering, have you seen what it's like? This one is the Dell Ultrasharp 49 U4919DW, it's a 5120 x 1440 49" monitor with a 32:9 aspect ratio. With a few tricks up its sleeve.

Absolutely phenomenal, I don't know why but I'm smiling ear to ear over that much screen real estate that I'm not going to see for quite a while. It's been a few years since I've upgraded my monitors so whist that monstrosity is off the menu, a curved ultrawide shouldn't break the bank.

I have 3 of the Dell34" covered, they are nice for parts that are long and wide, but not for parts that are tall... I also have (2) of the Dell 43" displays... IMO those are the best CAD monitors
Amazing monitor - thanks for the review - I want one. This is a device that has software updates (just like a consumer-grade NAS). It's normal to apply software updates, whether to a TV, a NAS, a monitor, or a motor car - updates are an everyday fact of life now.

The TV is specifically aimed for being used as monitor as well. Only complaint I have heard so far is that people get headaches and eyestrain because of the sheer size of the TV.

Nice! I use 2x4k dell monitors for my workflow, which includes cad and am happy with that.
you can rotate the top portion of your NZXT AIO to sit horizontal, i dont mean unmounting it because i know the hoses would clash with the ram, i mean just grab the top of it and twist it.
4:16 I got that monitor and I use 3ds Max on it I can confirm that it's fine when it comes to straight lines like it's not a huge issue at all you can game on it and be productive at the same time.
My 4919 will arrive soon :) what kind of equipment you are using on the top of the Monitor (like camera) and control panel on the stand ?
Is this monitor good for colors calibration ?
And what is your opinion about Samsung G9 for colors calibration ?

Does this have built in speakers or what are the audio out options? I want to connect a pS5 as well as the usual laptops etc but the options to get sound are very restrictive if the device its connected to has no audio out.
Does it get annoying looking farther to the left than normal to see the tool list or does the curve help that?
Need support for using this monitor: When i play Resident Evil 4 (Remastered version UHD-4K) PC game at FULL SCREEN, it cut 20% from top and 20% bottom of the game actual image/picture at 5120x1440 pixel 32:9 aspect ratio. If i want to see full image of game, i must change video settings from the game to 2560x1440 pixel and 16:9 aspect ratio. What is the problem? Do i must change settings of monitor to see FULL image on screen for Resident Evil 4 PC game. At this moment i have LG 32" nano IPS 4K monitor and i see the game FULL SCREEN at 3840x2160 pixel 16:9 aspect ratio. Please help me to solve this issue.

HI, could you please inform or anybody here, whats the cable exactly called (or a link to buy one online) that connects the Dell 4919dw to a Macbook 2021-2022 M1/M2 chips via USB-C. The same cable charges the Macbook pRO (90W) anda also gives video signal to the monitor as a main monitor and the Mac closed mode like you show in your video. Thanks great review.
I use the 34 inch version, U3419W. Can’t get hold of the 49 inch anywhere much as I’d like too.

Good for global collaboration, one side of your screen is in Japan and the other is in Texas, gives your eyes a good workout!

Hi! How do you mange collaboration with Teams and ultra wide monitors? Do you have any tip for software that dived the space into what windows thinks is physical monitors? We have the experience that we need to change software so teams sharing of only the software doesn’t work. And when sharing the full screen the aspect ratio will look unreadable on a 16:9 screen
Yea I've had that issue... whenever you share your desktop you instantly here "I cant see the text, too small!" so I now use an app called Sizer which forces applications to exactly 1920x1080 in size, or can be any 16:9 ratio, and then I only share a window in Teams rather than my full desktop. I prefer it that way as its less intrusive too.
@7:26 IMP Query: When this monitor connects two laptops or Desktop side by side say one side windows from my personal computer and other windows from my office laptop, can a single mouse and keyboard work on both windows without switching or clicking any additional buttons or installing any software on office laptop which is blocked by company? I need to buy only it it works in this way....
I bought the LG 38" 38WN95C UltraWide last year and it is the best decision I made to improve my productivity. I cannot vouch for its gaming performance as it is connected to a late 2013 Mac Pro and the dual D700s are not known for their gaming ability.
I bought this monitor a month ago to boost my productivity. And my goal is fulfilled. I work as full time product designer and accessibility specialist.
In daily basis I need to access multiple sources like websites, wire framing and prototyping programs, illustration and photo editing programs, PDF documents, etc from different computers.
I use the monitor for both 1-PC-use exploiting its wide space to access multiple windows/screens simultaneously and 2-PC-use using PBP functionality. I love both ways!
It’s super adjustable, has very sharp image, it’s curved and colors looks great!
I have not really tried it in gaming but I have read good reviews. You will not regret this purchase 😊

When you started talking about the built in KVM-switch my first reaction was: "Nooo, use Synergy instead!" And Io and behold... I use it on three computers simultaneously with one monitor for each computer. It works like a dream. The only thing that I haven't figured out is getting Synergy to switch over my 3D-Connexion Spacemouse. My workaround this far is to use three spacemice instead.
+1 for synergy, absolute life saver for when you’re using more than one PC.
Hi TFI, im following you for some years for now.
Im an Fusion360 user and i get a problem which i hope Inventor doest have it.
If i have many importing instances of the SAME assembly (a component) to a new project (a main assembly right?), Fusion rename automatically all parts to Body_A(1), Body_A (2).
When im making a boom to main assembly instead to have x Q-ty for Body_A, i have 1x Body_A(1), 1xBody(2). How does inventor do on same context?
And btw freacking nice monitor lol. What is that control board for?
Even as a 49", the height of it is still 11cm shorter than my 34" 16/9. I vote for a 43" oled, and 2 pivot next to it. That sounds better. I've never experienced a curved display, so that could change the game...
I have the UltraSharp 49 and am looking for specific directions on how to set up the split screen (Macbook on left, PC on right). Does anyone have a link to the specific directions?

I agree, a good monitor helps. I use a 38" 3840 x 1600 160 hz. I love the extra vertical height for 3ds max, Substance Painter, and unreal engine workflow. Then gaming afterwards 😊

Is 160 Hz significant better than 60 Hz for CAD?
I'm confused if I should buy this or the Odyssey neo G9. Having the extra curve means you don't need to look so far off to the side. Would love some thoughts about this?
The answer to that is really if you want to game on it as well or not. They are really completely different monitors. One is 60hz, the other 240hz.
How would you say this compares to multiple QHD monitors? A few years ago I persuaded my management that 2x Dell U2515H's per Engineering and CAD seat was a worthwhile investment. We have been running these for around 3-4 years and they are great, usually, around this time I would be considering replacements (and passing these down to other departments). Although a 49" single display would be cool do you think we would see any benefit?
I think I discussed this in one of my many takes that ended up being binned, I probably should have made this a primary talking point tbh. This is always gonna be up the individual but for me I prefer 1 display over multiple, ever since I went to ultra wide I began using a second montor less and less. Then when this came along, I just don't see any reason to. There's pros and cons to both solutions but with 1 display you're using less power, less cables, less power outlets, less video card outputs, there's no gaps or breakages between applications... however combining it all into 1 display is not the same cost as 2x QHD displays. And with 2x QHD displays, one tends to be a permanent residence for Outlook or Vault or ERP or whatever, so your main design tool never expands beyond QHD. Pros and cons.
@@Neil3D its a tough one. Personally I run 3 QHD displays and have felt that's the ideal for our style of work, Inventor in the centre, client drawing to the right and Excel and Vault split on the left. I like the idea of running Inventor on a larger display but I think the compromise from 3 down to 1 would be a hinderance. I would take the leap to 4K but it feels like many Autodesk applications don't scale well. Who knows, the next jump may be to VR!
@@benholmes19 SimPit Technologies out of New Zealand makes projection cockpits for use with 2 or 3 short-throw projectors. Might be an alternative to using super ultrawides.
I am currently running (3) 20" monitors salvaged from the firm I work for cuz they are the right price. I am ready to upgrade but this may be a bit much for me.

If you get an Mx master mouse (logitech) it has a built in program like Synergy.... i work as a designer as well. Master 3 and MX keys you should try!!

How is the performance of Inventor on it? Have you (can you) run InvMark full screen?
My 10900K (FORMULAWIN) upload to the leaderboard was done at the 5120x1440 full screen res, tbh there wasn't much if any noticeable difference going from 3440x1440 to 5120x1440 in terms of performance drop off. But that to me seems like a good idea for a video tho, what the graphics scores come out at for different resolutions!

What's wrong with a 23" 1080p monitor? Well, for starters it isn't 2010 anymore! (I will look into one of these wide monitors. Dual monitors doesn't really work, but one of these wide monitors may work great.)
Now tried wide screen for a year now but it has big drawbacks! so I will go back to more square 43”…Wide screens are to low for 3D Cad and Inventor. icons/menus shows extremely small and can’t really change size without scaling. Way better having 2 monitors with different settings

Looks like you are a better buddy, buddy whit Dell than me. I did BOUGH 3 computers in the last decade from them and wore them out thill the last microprocessor... maybe you can do a good word for me ad Dell... can use some sponsoring for screens at the moment....

You lost me a 60 hz, I work and game on the same rig. I'm using the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG349Q, 34" CURVED.
Love the straight talking vid's. Was always wondering about the curve with CAD (were AutoCAD ... maybe Revit one day).
Considering the Dell U4021QW maybe as it has the 5120 but also 2180 height, as bit worried about only having 1440 pixels height.
That U4021QW looks fire as well, I'm assuming the sheer size of the display means you don't need to set scaling above 100% but you'll probs need good eye sight for it... same with this one. But yea that looks quality.

This guy is shedding this monitor with so much praise, one starts to doubt his integrity, at least to the extent of 3d productivity, since he seems to put so much focus there. Especially when he totally neglects answering one very important question for any 3d monitor.
And the question is; does this monitor have CAD/CAM mode? Period. If it doesn’t, then please cool it with the praise, at least for pro 3d folk, this is not a thing to consider.

Clearly you are not being transparent. A monitor such as this requires a budget of around £2300 at the monment. This comprises of building or buying a suitable desktop pc to support such a wide monitor.A graphics card suitable for this resolution if you can find one at the monment. ancillary to this you will need suitable space on a desk both depth and width.To run it from a laptop is not recomended as overheating is an issue even with a high end gaming laptop. The high price is a reflection of technology in its assendency with expensive production and shipping costs. Most people should consider the technlogcal sweet spot of 36-38 inch screens for gaming.Wide screens for fast moving content sometimes cause spacial disorentation in 20 % of people. Best use is productivity in business,visual disability, or home working where screen real estate is requied.

Curved monitors are silly and it's too short for a productivity monitor. They cut a monitor in half horizontally and sell it for the same or more why are we putting up with this?
Warning don´t buy that shit! Horrible and lose source non stop... and the Dell support is the WORSE!! Going for Apple where I know i get help and ye suck with double screens but worth it! Shame on you Dell!
